It's kind of funny that the fanbase refers to him as Hammond of Texas even though that line is said like once when Teal'c introduced him to Bratac.

Are you just going to ignore every other time Bratac addresses General Hammond as Hammond of Texas? It's literally what he calls him every single time. There's even the line "has Hammond of Texas fallen in battle?" "No sir, he's just retired."

In my head Canon Hammond of Texas had a posting in the UK at some point and while in London met a man called Harry Hart they became friends. Hammond taught Harry how to cook proper BBQ and Harry taught Hammond that Manners Maketh Man which is the reason why Hammond was so good at being a General for the SGC.

@@SGtidbits He went through one other time. It was the episode where he and Teal'c go through the gate with that Goa'uld fighter and rescue SG-1. The one where he finds Teal'c on Chulak talking with Master Bratac and giving a speech about the Jaffa Rebellion.

He also went through the gate when they setup a ambush to destroy Anubis's superweapon. He was commanding the operation from the planet while O'neil and Carter flew the F-302.
