But that's not all the W's Discord took home this week. In fact they announced that they are releasing something called "User Apps" which basically are bots that you can use anywhere on Discord. Now usually when things are released, it's for something that comes out in Q4 2039. In this case, it's March 18th. Aka right about now.
Oh yeah, want to use Discord activities but don't want to join a voice chat? You can do that now. Well, it's more of an experiment which means it aint out for everyone but it will slowly release. Speaking of which, there's a handful of Discord experiments that are exciting.
But like all relationships, there are ups and downs. And there was a cataclysmic downfall on Discord. A femboy Discord server was blocked in a certain country :(

I’m having a hard time believing that’s the case. The company is massive, the widespread hate on loot boxes is well known. I don’t believe they would make such a stupid mistake, even if it’s Discord we’re talking about.

Note that Russia banned use of WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram and Viber only for the government chats and any people related to it. Normal people can use them without any restrictions or VPN

im a little concerned about the user apps things, some people like to keep specific bots out of their servers for a reason and this update could bypass that which then could allow for too much chaos for small server owners

I had the same concern, I feel like @ATBZ is right and there will probably be an option to disable user apps from running in your server, as someone could easily add some sort of text wall or everyone ping bypass or something else like that into a server. There might also be an option to ban specific user apps, I have no clue though.

This is a completely valid stance, but it should also be considered that if Discord goes against Russia, they're going to be blocked entirely in that region, meaning LGBTQI+ users cannot use the platform AT ALL. By complying, they are (likely unintentionally) doing the best thing for their users.

@@custom6000 I think the umbrella term is "Application Commands" for anything bot action related. They could still call "Slash Commands" -> "Text Commands" But actually, yeah, it would be lovely if there was a bit more customizability for commands. Like favorites, personal prefixes or as far as custom aliases / shortcuts

Hey, I live in Russia and to confirm the last part: No, Russia did not block any social media, such as WhatsApp and discord, OTHER companies such as facebook did block people with Russian Geolocation.

Hey, I live in Russia too, and this is false information: Meta (a company that owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) was blocked by the Russian goverment because of them (Meta) spreading bad stuff about russians (???), and due to that, any News media that aren't currently blocked in Russia have to specify, that Meta apps are banned on Russian territory due to them being an "extremist organisation" (?????) WhatsApp did get unblocked the first week after Meta's block though, due to it being a messenger app and not a social media platform. Although it is heavily monitored by the goverment (my mothers friend ended up in prison because of things he said in there lol) Twitter, KZfaq (the disabled profile pictures/thumbnails/profile banners) are blocked in Russia due to the "unsafe and unmonitored environment" (???, official report was given just about Twitter, it incldues LGBTQ+ "propaganda", Cheese Pizza (the only fair point imo, but still blocking an entire platform because of that...), Fakes about the war and the Russian army, etc.) All of that can be officially fact checked in the official Russian "Blocked Websites" report, it also includes countless amount of news medias, average websites, and even LGBTQ+ friendly area websites (due to obvious laws), which on my opinion is super f-ed up, but what can we do about that

this thing of using bots at your account could be really bad, there are some bugs that i could imagine happening the server bot and the account bot could have a simple coding error that could give the server bot's role to anyone that uses the same account bot, exemple: bot X have the server option and account option, in server Y this bot have admin and someone goes to this server whit the bot X for accounts and use a custom command that makes the bot says / ban [someone], this could give admin power to any one that uses that bot this have some potential but i hope discord don't give us a nuke that could be used anywhere
