The ONLY reason I would wear the Speedmaster is the fact it is more subtle in appearance than the Sub. Flashy anything is very off putting.

The problem is that you’ve got some really flashy watches and that speedy is too muted for you. You have an elegant style and dress formally at work. A guy like you might need the solid Moonshine Gold Speedmaster to stay interested.

I feel the same way. It’s a historic and beautiful watch, but every time I try it on, I just cannot pull the trigger on it. Your gold Neuman dial Daytona is gorgeous so with options like that, the Speed,aster doesn’t stand a chance. Great content.

Nice video. Similar here, just had 6 weeks without mine and pleased to bring it back into rotation. FYI assuming just a slip of the tongue but incase you weren’t aware the speedy is 50m WR! Also to add, the newer models come with a clasp which features on the fly adjustment. You can pick these up from the AD and retrofit.

Curious about your comment "the case only has a water resistance to 100 meters, but I have no problem wearing this in the rain". I should hope so, haha. You should have no problem wearing it to go swimming.

I love and hate them so much, that I've bought and sold the 1861 twice, and bought it again for the 3rd time recently. Hoping this will be a keeper...i love it more than the new versions. Update...i may keep my IWC Mark 16 instead and sell the speedy ha ha ha

My kids always prefer the Moon story of my Speedy over the diving history of my Sub! The Speedy is “affordable” classic that should be part of any watch collection! Cheers!

Must say I have never seen the Moonwatch compared to a gaudy Solid Gold Daytona interesting!

To me the Speedy is like the Submariner. It’s a “perfect watch”. But this means that once the magic wears off, it’s just boring, especially if you have a lot of other more interesting watches. There’s something nice about a flashy, slightly too large watch. Maybe not as a single watch collection, but as part of a larger collection to shake it up. Now a solid gold Speedy would be something fun to wear.

Yikes. I would never get caught out in public wearing that Daytona (That's just personal taste). The Omega is just class, easy to wear, perfect weight and size, stunning to look at, understated but if you know you know.

Compared to the Rolex Daytona the Omega Speedmaster Professional is the BETTER watch by ANY possible metric: Price, availability, precision, accuracy. My "Speedy" with the 3861 calibre is exactly ONE SECOND late every eight weeks. There is NO WAY on GODS green earth that a Rolex Daytona (or "any" Rolex for that matter) is gonna perform like that. The very BEST that I've ever seen with a Rolex was "two seconds fast per day". When I decided that I wanted to purchase an Omega Speedmaster, I left the house on a saturday morning, went to my local AD, sat down with him over a cup of coffee, discussed the question "Hesalite vs. Sapphire Sandwich" ... and one hour later - without any brand or purchase history with that AD - I left the store with a brand new shining time piece. Try that with any Rolex AD ... you can call yourself LUCKY if you're not getting laughed out of the store. First time customer asking for a Daytona ...? Five to ten years on the waiting list ... if you're LUCKY. Last saturday I checked on the white Speedy. Out of this world beautiful watch. If you need the Daytona "Panda" vibe ... this is the one for you ... for half the price ... in an instant ... in a better quality.

It should have a adjustable clasp. All watches above $500 should imo.

One thing I don't like about chronographs is that 100% of mine stopped working (3 watches), but maybe that is just a correlation rather than a causation to some degree. I've never had any other watch break. My Speedmaster from 1979 needs a mainspring and servicing. It's been down for about 10 years now. I inherited it and getting it fixed is going to cost a tremendous amount of money. Replacing the mainspring isn't much more than the servicing, it is the recommended servicing that is so costly. Well...now it is 45 years old; the mainspring snapped at 35 years old. I suppose it has to go to a shop once per 35 years. Adjusted for inflation, I don't think this watch was much more brand new in 1979 as just the servicing is today. $972 today for the servicing, but back in 1979, these weren't as hyped up as they are today so the price has gone up.

I think the current Speedmaster Hesalite is about as perfect a watch can get. If I had one criticism, it would be it is a touch large for my wrist (which is the same size as yours). Though it wears comfortably, I do often look down at my wrist and wish it were 2mm smaller in diameter. It's said often that it wears more like a 40mm watch due the 42mm size counting for the asymmetrical crown guards, and I truly think it does, but the large dial counters and "smallness" to the overall perception of the watch when looking at it on your wrist. Also, just want to note, the Sapphire version (black dial) has the same printed indices as the Hesalite. It's only the logo that is applied. But they do have applied indices on the new white dial version.

I found my moonwatch somewhat large and the daily winding was tedious. I sold it.

The answer is simple it doesn’t give you the recognition of wearing a Rolex. You like the look of the speedmaster but you don’t really love the watch.

I have a feeling that the Speedy Pro might just be the most flipped and re-bought, rinse and repeat, watch in history! I myself am onto about my 7th I think (not including other Speedmaster's I've also owned). It's odd because Omega has been my favourite watch maker since I was a kid, and I've been a space nut since I was a kid, and The SpeedyPro is the most famous Omega watch. But I've never fully gelled with it. I love the whole design of it, but never wear it, but know if I sell it I'll just buy it back again. And it's not just because I'm being influenced by the "every serious watch collector must own a moonwatch" banter. Nah, I truly love it and will always own it. Just prefer wearing my other watches.

Also it looks like you have been sold the old style bracelet. There is a new version with sliding micro adjustment similar to the one on Rolex Submariner.

Excellent video! Maybe the white dial will be more interesting. You really don’t need the Speedmaster when you have your Daytonas. You can always buy it back at the ADs.
