COULD THIS WOMAN be the 'hottest modern Viking'? 25-year-old Freya, from Bavaria, Germany, is known on social media for dressing as a 'modern Viking' every day. Since she was a little girl, Freya has been fascinated by Viking history after her father gifted her a book about time travel. Two years ago, Freya, who worked as a model, decided to fully embrace the lifestyle as a modern Viking woman after feeling fed up with the 'fake Instagram world'. When she posted a video on TikTok sharing her makeup look inspired by the popular TV series, 'Vikings', Freya was surprised to find herself going viral. Freya told Truly: "For me, the Viking lifestyle represents living to the real Nordic culture, living up to the Northern gods, appreciating the world they gave us and connecting with your ancestors."

I love this for them! As a history teacher, it is so fun to see people living their best lives through historical portrayals. Who cares if it is a more “modern”viking look, it still does the time period justice. Beautiful couple, keep it up!

I'm sure vikings spent hours dressing themselves, doing hair and makeup to look amazing....and that was their main trait.

Noble Women actually did. We know from historical sources dated to the Middle Ages they spent up to 5 hours with getting ready, especially on their hair. Worst days were the ones they decided to wash it where the whole day could be spent on washing, combing and drying the hair. 😌

Even if there is some particular fanciest of the fancy noble viking woman that she wants to emulate, she still shouldn't use makeup and anything they couldn't possibly use.. clothing they didn't use or couldn't possibly create etc etc.. I mean, i don't think thats a normal or good thing to do or way to live, but if you're into that and promoting yourself that way ..i THINK you should do it right and not the fancy hollywood version of it.

@@x3merx3mer YES, NOBILITY EXCISTED WITHIN VIKING SOCIETY - and there were also noble women , guess what - so did slaves and "middle class." You did not really get it is actually me from the video you are talking to, did you ? :D and since my style is MODERN viking- maybe actually listen to what I have to say in the video on this exact topic - I can do everything I want.

You will find more accuracy in historical reconstructionists than this (Check out Jimmy, known under The Welsh Viking on YT). Their benefit is that they do mention viking was a job - but then you just get people confused about vikings/how they looked like/"viking tattoos"/who was and wasn't a viking or able to be one and you end up with Thoraboos all over.

It's one part to dress up as a viking and portraying yourself as a viking on social media that is quite the easiest part. How about living like a viking? Chopping wood all day to keep the house warm, not relying on modern tech, growing your own food etc. Your husband would be gone most of the time sailing. Does it still sound nice to you? also I don't think viking women took 2 hours to get ready each day. They had a lot of work to do.

Oh I think it's fine with the makeup, that is not the problem.. But she is not a Viking (as she says herself), because Viking is not just braided hair (not all Vikings were blonde btw) , a dress and home that looks like the real deal, it's about a lifestyle. A Viking is a warrior, and to be very precise women were not called Vikings, we were called vakyries or shield-maidens (skjoldsmøer) when on the battlefield. But most of us were "just" called kvenna which is the old norse word for woman/wife, in Denmark we say kvinde today. A comparison for understanding what I am trying to explain is that you can't call yourself an artist just because you wear a long floral bohemian dress, feathers in your hair and have a fine collection of paint brushes made from raccoon hair, you actually have to use the brushes and paint with them 😊

I don't know where she lives, but she should be friends with the Viking Queen Sol. I think the Viking style and faith is very beautiful; but I cannot handle the movies of all the fighting and pillaging. Now my son is a Viking and he is very happy and has truly found himself. I would love to dress in the style and possibly follow the faith, I'm just trying out various faiths to see which one best fits me. I hope she has much success and a happy life :) btw I loved her last dress; very beautiful and cozy for winter

No Vikings Age, these cultures she's basing this on are not Viks. They are called NORSE/ Norsemen, from Sweden the Svear... Scandinavia didn't exist until 1800rds, She needs to do more Research at Northern Universities. She looks cool though! Viking is a Job!🌞😎

ok, I might have been asleep during my time in Uppsala Universitetet then :D and believe it or not, even in Medieval History Facilities we call the time from around 793- approximately 1100 the Viking Age to ease up the definition.
