Diminished chords are built with minor 3rds. You will see that each of the keys in the chord are equally spaced.
The goal is to be able to play them in all keys, and to be able to identify a diminished chord when you hear it.
The cards can be found at www.pianokeyfinders.com. You don't need them to be able to play the chords, but they make it a lot easier!
