The game you're describing, "sui," its full name is Suicide. I could see sui being a regional adaptation to soften the original name. And it makes sense they banned it. Game is violent as heck. As I remember it, one player throws a ball at a wall, think volleyball height but its up to the player. If someone catches it they have to hit the current ball thrower before they run for the wall, touch it, yell "Suicide!" and become safe. Hitting the current thrower in time makes you the new ball thrower. If you miss or they reach the wall in time and yell suicide, you have to start running for wall safety too. If no one catches the ball, any and all players who even slightly touched it on its way down must run to the wall to be safe. During that interval, other players are free to blast any runners with the ball full force. If you've been caught/hit several times, you may face a penalty where you stand against the wall, hands on the wall and back facing to everyone, and you get hit with the ball hard. Who gets to hit you (sometimes everyone) and how many times depends on the region and ruleset. I saw the rules vary within the same schoolyard. We played with a blue handball tho I'm sure some used a regular tennisball too. So yeah, that's why the game often got banned. It was like dodgeball, handball and catch rolled into one violent kids game.

To my absolute shock I became a blaster main last week. Back in splatoon 2 days I always went for roller or faster weapons, and I found blasters to be too slow and clunky. Lo and behold, I pick it up now and I SOARED. I've never had such a blast (haha) playing Splatoon than with a Blaster, and I never thought that would be the case.

1 piece of advice for generally using blasters in the game: Use intensify action,especially if you jump a lot! Blasters have horrible jump accuracy and intensify can greatly reduce it

I've been playing a whole bunch of random weapons lately to grind Sheldon licenses for season 2 and I've discovered the joys of sloshing and dapple dualing. I thought I disliked sloshers because the basic one felt horrible to use, but the tri slosher feels amazing. Same goes for the dualies, the basic one felt slow and gross, but dapples feel great. I'm also enjoying the undercover brella and clash blaster, but im a lot more iffy on the clash.

Don't over extend with that weapon it's not like the sploosh o matic or the splatters shots where it can paint and has range. You kind of need to stay in the backlines after all it is a ranged blaster

Range blaster is my main and it’s allll about maintaining your ink and keeping distance. The refill time is very high compared to a lot of other weapons so if you get caught alone with no ink you’re just dead

I don’t know if anyone in chat explained wall ball to you, but it’s a game where you throw a tennis ball against a wall and try not to get hit by it. If you do you have to run to touch the wall before the ball hits the wall again. If not your out but since there’s no really set rules I’ve seen games where people have multiple lives. There was also a thing where if the ball went like far away and you went to go get it somebody would challenge you and you would have to stay in place and throw the ball to the wall from wherever you were. If you threw the ball and it hit the floor before it hit the wall you also had to run to the wall before the ball touched the wall. Also if you throw the ball and somebody catches it before it touches the ground you would have to touch the wall before somebody threw the ball at the wall. Also the teachers possibly banned it because kids tried to get each other out by throwing the ball at full force and sometimes when somebody was at the wall because they were trying not to get out people would just pelt them. Also a very fond memory of mine was how kids would keep accidentally throwing the ball onto the roof and then one day a janitor went up there and threw them all down and there were just hundreds of tennis balls on the floor.

i am a firm believer that the best blaster is literally just the normal, standard blaster. its range is a lot easier to gage and the autobombs and big bubbler are sick if you know how to use them right. idk how good it is for rainmaker because i never play rainmaker but its been super good for me for tower control and splat zones.

Pro tip for the Range Blaster, and honestly any weapon that struggles with paint output. Whenever you respawn, throw a bomb in your spawn, usually, at least in competent ranked lobbies, players won't spend the first part of the game painting their spawn, so there's bound to be spots that are unpainted. Instead of staying there and painting, just quickly pass through and paint a little bit with a bomb each time, charging up your special for when you come back.
