The last game doesn’t need jump-scares to be scary. The horror of it isn’t shadow-demons, but rather the fact that you’re a college kid who eats noodles alone every night, fixes their pipes with duct-tape, and experiences a black-out every 10 minutes; you live with crippling anxiety, constantly thinking something is coming after you, but in reality it’s just going to be the very thing you expect, the thing that happened yesterday.

That part where the camera angle is through the eyes of someone else while you control your character is actually a very good visual representation of "second person POV."

Another game that does the same thing but better is Nobody Lives Under the Lighthouse. When being chased by the monster, it takes on the view of the monster while you run from it. It's extremely well done.

@@NomadSage07 theres a demo on the 2021 ps1 haunted demo disk called 散歩 - Walk by Kazumi Games that does it from the perspective of the person chasing you too and its super cool, same concept of a school girl getting followed home at night too but with a different take I really liked. Super cool concept

Fun fact: The "Snake" that you see slithering at the beginning of this video, is actually not a snake at all. It's called a "Slow worm", which is a species of legless lizard. Unlike snakes, legless lizards have external ear holes, movable eyelids, and more flexibility in their jaw.

"There's no way a human has that much blood in them... right? 2... 3 pints." Jack the average human as 5 liters or 1.5 gallons in them. You can lose 2-3 pints and actually still operate. So you did remember something partially correct about the human body. I actually had to double check and make sure since I heard you say that and just sat there thinking; that seems too low. Anyway. No-Snake Hotel is actually nicely done. Well done devs. Hope to see Jack get scared by Choo-Choo or whatever it is titled soon.

Huh, I think the second game utilizes a second-person POV when you’re looking at yourself through the eyes of the stalker, which is something I very rarely if ever see in video games. Might have only seen it once before.

Ya I watched someone figure it out, basically 2nd person is playing your character from the eyes of another. A good example is a mission in Driver: San Francisco where you drive a car while your camera is fixated inside another car tailing you.

I love how fucking taunting that first game is to anyone who has a fear of snakes. The testimonies are so ridiculous but then again I can imagine my ophidiophobic mother saying something like that because she would yell “watch for snakes!!” every time I stepped outside our house. And no, we didn’t live in a known snake area, we lived in the suburbs of the US-the only snakes nearby are harmless garter snakes.

I think the chase sequence (9:24) of the second game ‘Almost home now’ can be considered as an example of a 2nd person POV, it’s such a smart and cool game mechanic but it’s underutilized because it’s hard to pull off.

Imagine your the “chaser” (camera) behind the main character, when you put in a input to move left, the main character and the chaser will both move left

Perfect for J'ndiana Iones! The reason there are no snakes in this hotel is that they're too dummy thicc and their slithering keeps alerting the guards. The snake hotel game was really cool, though. Would've loved to see more. Actually, a hotel where all the staff were snake people would be cool. Now I just want any snake game. Ssssssick.

If you enjoyed the stalker POV from Almost Home Now, I'd really suggest No One Lives Under the Lighthouse! It implements that feature really well with its chase scenes!

This reminded me of the time I found a baby snake in the hallway of an employee dorm at an amusement park. Tried to catch it so it wouldn't get stepped on, but it went under someone's door. Well, this episode was a bit more funny than scary, but still enjoyable. My favorite was that looping time story, the “third” game that was really creative. My take on the was that the boyfriend had a drinking problem and accidentally slept in when he was supposed to pick his girlfriend up and she got mugged. Once he found out he killed himself out of guilt and is stuck in this that loop..

The first game actually has a little story to it! The developer got together with someone else and decided to make games based off of each other’s worst fears which is pretty cool if you ask me. So the other guys fear was snakes 🐍 so that’s just a quick horror game that was designed for him :)

The second game you played kind of reminded me of another horror game called “No on lives under the lighthouse.” I only watched someone talk about it and I didn’t play it myself, but it still scared the shit out of me. But it was still really cool. It also has a scene that has you with the perspective of the monster, but you still control your character. I don’t know how long it is and it still leaves some questions unsolved, but it’s still epic. You probably won’t ever see this, but I suggest you check it out. Cause it does a great job at being literal nightmares.
