@@queen_of_the_moths it probably was the flu. People don't think the flu is serious but I had it in 2018 and was also unable to leave bed for three days and had lingering symptoms for over a year. If you go into the doctor with flu symptoms during flu season they give you a flu test so he probably had one.

I think it was - right before COVID hit big there was concurrently also a stronger wave of the flu going on in the US between dec-jan. My gf and another friend got it too and experienced symptoms similar to drew minus the loss of taste so it probably really was the flu

It's not him being dead that makes it egregious. It's what they're suing over. If Juice whirl had actually done something to seriously profit off their work, it would be understandable for them to still want to be made whole. and yet plenty of people make music every day that doesn’t sound similar enough to that of a world famous band they almost definitely listened to to get them sued. bear in mind Yellowcard has a very good legal team, and if their legal team thought that this was not a valid, viable case, they would never have initiated the lawsuit. the lawyers of a band that’s been famous for over a decade probably know more about how music plagiarism works than you.

All they know is that sometimes these cases go in the plaintiff's favor, and after the Blurred Lines lawsuit they likely felt more confident in winning these kinds of cases. It's weird for you to say that the lawyer must've had a good reason to sue since he's a lawyer, but this lawsuit would've never went their way with a competent jury.

Good news everyone! Yellowcard ultimately dropped the lawsuit against Juice WRLD's estate. Bad news is they're still gross and reading more details about the case made me even angrier. Yellowcard was pursuing a $15 million dollar amount, as well as royalties to the song "Lucid Dreams." From what I read, the $15 million amount was excluding additional damage that Yellowcard wanted to pursue. Those additional damages would have been from Juice WRLD's concerts and appearances because they alleged that the song effectively launched his career. While that's likely true, the implied reasoning behind all this is that, to some extent, Yellowcard alleged that _their melody_ and thus _they_ had launched Juice WRLD's career and thus deserved a slice of his success. Absolute leeches. Disgusting.

Being broken up has nothing to do with the fact that someone could be making money off of a song that they feel is a rip off of theirs. Royalties are a big part of financial stability in the music industry. Even tho Juice is dead his estate will still make money off that song, and Yellowcard doesn't want someone making money off something they feel they wrote first.
