You gave me a lot. I didn't really have friends when I started skating to ask for advice or push me to improve, so I always just layed your videos while I skated. Now all of my skating, all my progression has you at it roots. Skateboarding has given me so much, and you gifted me skateboarding. Thank you Ben Degros

Totally understand, the burn out is real and recently it has been harder and harder to get views with the change in the algorithm, and shorts and TikTok taking up so many eyeballs. Respect for the 6 years you put in and what you brought to the YT skate community. Never commented before, but have enjoyed watching your videos.

Thank you so much ben. You took me from a 17 year old kid who didn’t care about his setups, just knew what he liked and when it was time to retire it just to start fresh, to a 24 year old who doesn’t know what he likes but knows what he likes about everything and it’s been fun not knowing. Your videos are like a security blanket for me. Much love to you and best wishes for what your future holds and like any true skate enthusiast, you’ll be back. At least hopefully for my sake.

I am a 45 year old father that got back into skating this summer because my two daughters wanted to learn how to skate. I took the opportunity to get back into skateboarding and love that my girls are also into it. I searched through youtube for videos and content but didn't like how a lot of what I saw was not enjoyable to watch or was just click bait. I always came back to your channel because of your no nonsense, no fluff, and honest content. I really enjoy watching your videos. I appreciate that your reviews have always come from a technical and practical standpoint that is backed up with a lot of testing and skill. I appreciate your honesty and ability to remain true to yourself. Thank you for your contribution to skateboarding. Thank you for helping me get back into something that I loved as a kid and continue to love as an adult. Good luck to you and your future endeavors! See ya on the next video. Much love and respect from Wasilla, Alaska.

Well said! I’m 46 and got back on during COVID and couldn’t just sit at the park on my phone after the first few days. Ben’s content has always been great. You might like Chad Caruso’s channel if you want to pick up some progression basics and then advanced stuff. The back catalog has a ton of how to stuff and then he has skate travel vlog material from his 50 states/50 tricks challenge and this year’s skate across America. Cheers from Long Island!

Dude, the older we get our time on the board becomes more precious, and you dont wanna waste that skating the wrong set ups. On that same note, you've helped so many people learn how to find thier perfect set up, (and your channel will continue to do so) so you have fully earned the right to enjoy yours. You've provided a real service to skating man, I learned more from your channel in the last year or so, than I did through decades of skating. And you've always done so with integrity, you and Joa are the most non youtubey skate youbers out there and this is why we love you guys. Do your thing man, you've earned it. Really resonate with everything you said in this video, I’ve felt myself in a similar funk making skate videos on my channel. Getting discouraged by all the repeat “content” that gets posted every day, a channel such as yourself was extremely refreshing to watch and a much better change of pace compared to the super fast and quick cut style videos that exist today. Oddly enough I felt myself disappear online for a while, and this has inspired me to post more and to focus on making skate videos that I would like to watch myself. Great videos Ben and thank you for the motivation ! It’s always great to pay the bills but it’s even better to put out work that you are truly proud of.

Thanks for helping get this 'old guy' back into skating, after 17 years off. I probably broke my wrist at 24, didn't have insurance, needed my body operational for my job - had to make a tough lifestyle choice. By the time I got the insurance thing figured out, I had a career, other hobbies, life was happening. I never forgot how much fun skateboarding is, or how important it was to me, but your channel reminded me that there's nothing stopping me from going out and riding my board. It's taken a few sore months just to get my muscles and muscle memory back, but it's been great! My son is 3, and seeing how eager and happy he is just to watch his dad skate, that alone makes the struggle worth it. I love that humbling feeling, too, of being totally frustrated with something and putting in the work to make it work. I didn't watch you channel for the setup reviews anyway, so I'm excited that you're still interested in posting when you're feeling inspired, I'll be looking forward to those when (if) you put those up. Good luck, thank you - I just might have to pick up drywall!

A few years ago your channel made me step on a skateboard and go ride again. That is something I am thankful for now. Even if I wasn't able to skate for more than one year since the full-scale invasion and all the other stuff related to it started in my country. One of the best channels about skateboarding on YT. Always loved your chill style, man. The algorithms are both a good and a bad thing on this platform and modern social media in general, they can push you and your content, but over time they can become your cell, so I totally understand how you're kinda tired of it after all these years and just want to enjoy skateboarding without taking time from other important things in life. Thanks for your videos from Moscow, I hope you won't delete them, cuz I'm sure the info will still be valuable for the future viewers. Awe man…. My second wind skating at 36 was basically all accredited to your channel. I wanted to so bad and then I typed “skating after 30” in KZfaq search and first video was you. I didn’t think there was any guys skating this old unless they were pro. I also jacked my knee up pretty bad after about 3.5 of skating again and I don’t get out skating much now. But that second wind was the best time on my board I ever had. I still go out from time to time but it isn’t as fun when the pain starts. Anyway your channel was a blessing and I wholeheartedly loved every video. Saturday mornings were coffee Ben video and skate….. all before 12 pm lol.

All good. There was a period two years ago when I was skating a lot and doing a lot of home remodeling work and I was watching so many Ben videos man. It a very overwhelming period in my life where I had to learn and get it done on all front and I damn near drove myself crazy. The amount of things I learned from you is truly hard to describe or explain. I'll always be grateful for that.

Ben, you're a legend. It's probably ridiculous how many people you have got back into skating or got re-hyped when things felt stale. Thanks for all the amazing content and all the best.

Thank you Ben, for your countless hours of wisdom and knowledge. Your videos actually made me a better skateboarder by helping me understand how my skateboard works after almost 10 years of skating. It’s all good, don’t feel the need to force yourself to make content, when you’ve made far more than enough. Thank you for the memories, and I hope that you can rest and be happy.

Thanks for all the content Ben! As a 39 year old dad who fell in love with skateboarding who has adult money, but the problems of an adult body, I get it. I went down the rabbit hole of trying everything that I could afford now, I looked to you for guidance. I respect your position and you will be missed. Much love. I’m back in my early 2000s BS with a 7.88 and 50mm F4s on thunders or venture lows.

Thank you, Ben. As a skater of similar age I really enjoyed your content. As a home DIYr, your drywall and finish carpentry helped me a ton.

It was an absolute pleasure talking with you at the RDS Skate Demo at Mahon Park back in July 2023. Your technical-focused approach to skating, enthusiasm for building and reviewing setups, and your friendly personality has been such a positive influence on my life in skating and engineering. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and to have that conversation IRL! I was super excited to have my setup reviewed by you that time. Wishing you all the best Ben!!

I can't say anything other than thank you Ben. You have been helping me for almost my entire skate time by constantly being a motivation and also kind of a role model to me. Because of you I started skating again after tearing first my outer-, and then a year later my inner ligament on my right foot. I am 16 now and I must say i am so grateful for what you've done for me and so many other people. I have huge respect for you and your decision. Greetings from Germany.
