My 2018 Ford Raptor with only 80k miles has left me stranded in the middle of no where after losing oil pressure. Its a well known fact that the Ford Raptor is prone to Cam Phaser issues as well as problems with their oil pumps and I guess my truck decided go out all at once while towing my crawler through a very remote area in Eastern Washington. Unfortunately for me, I think the engine might be ruined.

I think he uses things to their fullest and unfortunately that does wear things out. Most people do this stuff 1% of the time and he’s doing it more frequently buts it’s why we watch. Even his taco is down at some points. I go back and forth where I’m babying my vehicles and then to the other extreme where I’m figuring out how to have more fun off-road and not worrying about them.

I found this channel due to the Ford. There are very few quality channels where they use a full size Ford in an “adventure” sense. That said it’s just a vehicle and if it’s the right time to move on then that’s a decision you have to make. Keep the high quality videos coming and I’ll be here for the ride!

Buys a salvaged title ½ ton truck in the lowest tow rated configuration, doesn't service it at all, uses it to do everything it wasn't engineered to do, then his subscribers blame it on the truck. Are ya'll forreal? Then puts an 8k+ lb truck on a trailer rated for 7500 and shocker, gets a blow out. 🤣

Damn man. Maxx you really need to slow down and figure things out man. A Raptor is NOT a towing vehicle. Yes it can tow but you have seen for yourself it's not very good at it. The Tacoma is nonexistent at this point. A few videos back the only thing running in the flood was a hopped up Subaru. The SxSs are broken as well. Not my business but you don't seem like you take care of things very well or do basic maintenance, like oil changes on a Raptor when it needs it. Everything does not need to be in such a hurry. I subscribed way back with the original Taco stuff but this channel really has no focus any longer, unless it's just you breaking shit. My advice (not that it matters) is to sell all of the projects stuff like the toterhome, sub, and the cows. Buy you a real towing vehicle, get both Tacos RIGHT, and make some quality adventure vids. I'd love to see some vids of you and the family doing some remote offroading (newer Taco), rock crawling (old Taco), and Para stuff mixed in there too. I find myself just skipping over these random vids. You don't have to be wild and always destroying stuff to get views. You really need focus!!!

Sorry that you caught issues with your truck, I've got a 2010 SVT Raptor with a 6.2 engine, and I've not had any issues to date. The maintenance is a big part of the upkeep on any vehicle, especially the newer ones. That's partly why I wanted a stock V8. I keep the regular maintenance up, and I use mine on the farm. It earns its keep, and looks good doing it. I've got 137,000 miles on mine and I'm the third owner. Good luck with your future endeavors!

I work for a class 1 railroad and we use super duty trucks F250/350 and the Chevys 2500/3500 gas for our department (signalmen). They are superduty for a reason. Cast iron block engines, dual alternators, 4X4 and loaded up to 12K lbs. We beat the crap out of them. My current truck has the Ford 6.2 and has 200K on it, no issues. I drive through fields and rough roads, bounced crap off the headliner when I have hit sink holes. I was impressed enough to buy my own F250. I looked at the Tundra, it just seemed high priced for what It is and I don't trust the V6 turbo

Unless regular is gonna be $5.00 for the next couple years 🙄 the 2016 chevy I drive gets 9.4 empty or loaded heavy... the 2018 gets 10.4 empty or loaded heavy... both have the same rack setup, not much drop when towing at max weight (like another 3/4 ton truck or small excavator) lol the only time it slightly increases at all is driving in flat country interstate with a tailwind 😆👍 Both sit roughly as high as the raptor, so between front end aerodynamics and then the bed and racks sticking outside the body I believe that really hurts the mileage, otherwise 100% happy! No cam eating cylinder deactivation nonsense or modern EPA diesel tomfoolery to worry about destroying my wallet... Just the last of the good ol 6.0 gas motors with the long proven heavy duty 6 speed automatic transmission... Oh and a floor shifter for the transfer case instead of an electronic dial 😁

Honestly man, the raptor isn't made for towing, it seems like you've been trying to tow with it a lot. It's only meant to tow once in a while. That's your problem. It was never designed to tow constantly. If you are going to tow that much get a diesel heavy duty. Doesn't matter if it's only 6k lbs, it's lightweight for a truck designed to tow 20k lbs, and it will tow reliably for decades

I've seen dozens of Raptors and ecoboost F150's come off the dealer lot that develop this problem within the first 5-10k miles, just in my area. The dealer would have no way to know the condition of the timing chain tensioners unless they dug deep into the engine, which a dealer isn't going to do. He's got a great vehicle, well built and capable, and once the repairs are done, it'll sell for top dollar and be as dependable as it was on day 1 off the lot, if not more so because of the upgrades.

I'd be willing to bet that the majority of vehicles on the road get far less care than Maxx gives his vehicles. crazy watching this.. just sold my raptor for "timing" in more than one way... flew to Vegas and bought a nice Land Cruiser regeared and am about 1800 miles into driving home to VA! I feel way more comfortable even on an incredibly tough drive.. over 10,500ft Rcokies and 2,500 miles total I trust this more than a much newer, many less mile Raptor that I loved and raced too often! GLWS! I made a bag!

Jut started your video and I saw that you were in colfax, that’s cool as hell. I live in Spokane so I wait that looks familiar after you said your driving home from Idaho and I took a closer look at the sign behind you. Sorry about truck man, but I’m first time viewer.

This stuff happens. I had a bit of an episode when my truck blew the rear differential bearings when towing my camper. It was a not so fun story filled with a borrowed truck, a train trip, missed time at work, an injured dog, an expensive repair, and ultimately buying a new truck. Reflect on your misadventure, and identify some ”lessons learned.”

Damn, what a ride. I’ve definitely used that little park along the river there to sleep or take a piss in the middle of the night. Usually windy, so I’m surprised you slept so well. I think my favorite part was when you talked about making a decision. It’s so easy to just sit there and kick tires for hours and literally waste time. Thank you for sharing that, especially at that moment, kinda rung with me looking back on my own moments like that (where I didn’t make a choice, lol)

Uhaul for the win! I was headed to Death Valley and the transmission blew up outside Bishop. I got a tow to town, then on the way back from the weekend in Death Valley (piled into my friends' SUV) I was able to rent a Uhaul and trailer to get back to Sacramento. Of course it was snowing heavily over the pass at Tahoe so I had to go south to Bakersfield.

When I was younger my dad was always buying old vehicles and calling for me to go get them. Some were a turn and burn while most were an adventure in what next? One such trip he found this nice 67 Chevelle that was 4 hours from the house. His story was it was a great running car, my thoughts are I'm taking the truck and trailer.... Well I get there and it was a really great running car. So loaded and heading home and it started to snow that heavy slick crap. I'm having a hard time keeping the truck and trailer on the highway, plus the fuel pump is acting up. I got close to home and a friend of mine followed me home just to make sure we made it. The Chevelle was so good I could have jumped on the bus and went and drove it home, but my Dad's buying just didn't give me the confidence. I bought the car from him and it had a 6cyl in it and I drove it a long while. I feel your pain when it comes to road trips and how long they can take when shit happens. Just look on the bright side of things you had the equipment to not really be stranded and you worked it.
