Dipotassium glycyrrrhizate is a momecule derived from licorice as well. I really like licorice-derived ingredients for their soothing effects (don't have much hyperpigmentation yet. I'm not that into masks, though, so I will pass on this. And thank you for debunking the "detoxifying" myth. Another misleading term is "oxygenating". If anything we'd want to keep oxygen off our skin, since it - obviously - causes oxidation (free radicals).
@DoctorAnne

Exactly. Our skin gets its oxygen from blood flow, no need for products.

I have tried this mask and enjoyed it. I have sensitive skin and some fragrance sensitivities, but the mask has given me no problems. Thanks for explaining a bit more about mugwort; I knew very little about it beyond the context of use in K-skincare.

@@DoctorAnne Hmm no. It’s a bit pricey, and I’m frugal. I’m also having great luck with other active and moisturizing ingredients already so I don’t really want it. I can’t be 100% sure, but I feel like the iUnik Centella Calming Cream serves a similar purpose to the I’m From Mugwort mask because of the tea tree water and moisturizing ingredients in it. Both products have a calming, hydrating, and somewhat clarifying (acne-fighting) effect on my skin.

I have used it twice. I liked it, my skin was aggravated so I tried it. A few hours later I did see a difference. And I thought you were German 🇩🇪. My family is from Ascheffenburg. I am the first generation to be born in the States!

Doctor Anne yes! The biggest one is the Christ Child comes at Christmas at Oma’s when the bell rings we know he has left gifts. All Christmas songs I know are German. We definitely have German foods that we continue to cook which idk how to spell, but I do know how to say! Potato salad is one of my favorite though!

I haven't tried anything from the brand, but I find the packaging pretty. The rice toner is really the iconic product. Mugwort is a plant that I don't know anything about. A lot of time the Asian skincare market appropriates traditional medicine from whatever region even if the plant wasn't traditionally applied topically. Generally, if something was used topically for scars for centuries I tend to think it must do something.
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 4 жыл бұрын
I agree, there usually is some truth behind something that has been used for centuries. With exceptions of course, bleeding someone as treatment against several diseases did stick around for a long time as well and probably killed quite a few people in the process.

@@DoctorAnne my favourite type of skincare is combinations of plants and "active" ingredients. Centella asiatica and licorice are the ones I tend to look for the most. I also like the sound of sea buckthorn

I've been trying this mask for the last couple of weeks and I find it really soothing! I do not have active acne anymore because my tretinoin treatment made almost all of it go away, but in turn I have to watch out if I don't want my skin to be irritated, dehydrated and flaky, so that's what I expected from this mask, and it has been helping me now that I moved to a city with colder and drier weather. Anyway, I too prefer to use daily products that already do the job, but I tried this partly to feel fancy anyway 😅 and while I wait for my actual winter moisturizers to arrive.

Bought this mask to try, surprisingly it aggravated my skin and I ended up with small red spots all over my face after washing it off. Not sure what component of it that I might be allergic to, as the same thing happened after trying it a few more times.

I do believe our skin is detoxyfing our body - every time I eat something that is not good for me i get acne on my face - so I do belive that's how body tries to get rid of toxic stuff. Of course liver and kidneys do it as well and in more effective way so to say. But nice review of the mask, gives me a hint that it's nothing for me really. I don't know if its just my computer but the voice in this video is really strange and hard to understand because of it.
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 3 жыл бұрын
I am sorry about the audion issues, I worked on them in my other videos. While eating crap can lead to breakouts, that is not through "detoxifying", but through hormonal changes triggered by changes in blood sugar etc. There are no toxins in your sweat, just salt and electrolytes.

Hmmm. I got a free sample tube of mug wort from that company, but I haven't tried it. I think the name scared me off, I did take a look at the Pixi product you mentioned as almost everything irritates my skin and causes a little redness, but I can't do Witch Hazel. A lot of Pixi products I've come across have witch hazel, not soothing at all, to me. Oh well.
