Tim Curry sealed forever as "Da Man", for me when I saw him preform this role. Magnificent actor. I was a rebel early 80s New Zealand, (incidentally it is where Riff Raff grew up)loving it living it and now I am 59 ,60 in a couple months and I ha stalked his career since then till his death. Once again,"Da Man"!

It didn't end well for him but I liked his attitude in leaving. He was crying, he loved the life he lived on earth, but he was smiling too .. because he was going on. Well done.
@etarver132 жыл бұрын
Yep, he loved being a narcissistic degenerate. I’m sorry but I’m going to say this dude is living his best self or life, whatever mental gymnastics people want to tell themselves or others to justify heinous acts. This song is basically is Frankie’s using tears to attempt to appeal to Riff Raff and Magenta in order to stay on Earth to continue to use people as sexual objects, discard them when he’s gets bored, and to use people’s body parts in order to build a perfect boy or girl toy. This is the same dude who killed Eddie for no good reason, and proceeded to serve him to other people for dinner. Tears doesn’t make him remotely sympathetic.

Agreed! I saw it in original theatrical release, and while it was immediately a hit midnight movie it was many, many years before it became the cult classic of today. Nobody back then yelled out lines. We just watched in awe, enjoying the cosmic vibe created by the great Richard O’Brien, brought to life by the inimitable Tim Curry. Songs like this one are almost too beautiful to be true. Don’t dream it. Be it.

I went to a live show of Rocky Horror recently and during the cards for sorrow cards for pain the audience threw playing cards at the stage. The number of people who cry at this scene makes me think everyone is missing the point. As with most of his work, Tim Curry's character is the VILLAIN of the film. It might be slightly more sincere in the film, but in the context of the play this song is implied to be reverse psychology to trick them into feeling sorry for him so they'll leave him behind so he can stay and r*pe earthlings.

Frank needed help. He was clearly mad and self absorbed. He didn't understand consequences and didn't think about how what he was doing was affecting others. But what makes his death bitter is that at the end, when singing here, you can tell that he sees the error of his ways at least a little. And then he's killed. It would have been different if he was killed like in a battle where he was trying to kill someone else, but the fact he was killed right when he was changing is was hurts.

“cause i’ve seen blue skies through the tears in my eyes” i made this my senior quote. i found this movie when everything first locked down. i would watch it all night after a boring day of online school. this movie changed me a lot. it awoken parts of me i didn’t know existed. i look back on that poor 16 year old girl who was too scared to wear anything but sweatshirts and jeans and i smile now that im 18 and still here and expressing myself to the fullest in everything i do without shame. life is so hard as i get older and get ready to go to college. School and work drags me down. Whenever i feel hopeless i come back to this song. even when i’m crying so hard i can’t see through my tears, i look up, and i can still see blue skies.
