It's funny you should say this. I had this weird vision of what would happen if Kyle were to be taken back in time and presented this to a medieval king or lord. I came to the conclusion they would probably think he was definitely some sort of sorcerer, and the sword or knife would become a thing for fear and wonder.

@@An_Attempt I'm not a bug weapons guy, so I am not very familiar with historical swords. But if i think of the sword Kyle made a couple of years ago, and particularly the wonderfully deep and unnatural colours of the materials thank to oxidation, I have (in my very limited experience) have a hard time believing that and ancient person would have seen anything of that kind of otherworldly quality. I obviously could be wrong, it was just a feeling I had.

I have gotten sucked into watching your content ever since I watched you tirelessly build a dagger for months. I just want to say that your level of craftmanship is absolutely astounding and the methodology to Damascus mosaic textures and attention to detail even finding a flow between the finished plates so that there is no separation is art. But along with the artform you also have attention to the quality of the finished product, a truly usable, durable, and long-lived blade with beautiful and elegant curves that only lend a joist between art and practicality as those curves bare a cutting edge that could never be rivaled by a straight edge. One day, people with a fine pallet of knowledge in knives will be peering through collectables and will stop their eyes on your work and they will ask.... "Is that a Royer I see there?" even if your insignia all but dulls from the metal, they will know your work.

Wonderful musical backgrounds, and your voice is very soothing, easy to listen to. And it’s clearly evident your editing skills have progressed dramatically! I watched some of your first posts and it’s a night and day contrast…well done! * You give just the right amount of explanation of the various steps in the build process. * Love the humor and misc commentary you add (In one of your vids, you talked about your granddaughters visiting and painting your nails!) I’m thrilled to be a sub, keep up the amazing work!

I'm not a fan of Damascus usually but that pattern is stunning. The whole knife is a stunning work of art. I would pay good money for a knife like that. Beautiful job. I love your combination of forging the knife followed by finishing it with precision machines, like putting the final bevel on with a lapping disc and grinding both sides of the tang flat and parallel with the surface grinder and finishing the guard slot on the mill. As well as putting a convex bevel on it as opposed to just a straight bevel, which is quite a bit harder to do but is amazing if done well. Your end result isn't just a knife that looks amazing but also one that is of very high quality in terms of being well heat treated, very functional, precise and accurate and well executed down to every detail. It's my first time finding your channel and I'm definitely subbing. The ONLY thing i would say is i preferred the look straight after the acid etch and before the coffee finish. I liked the shinier and brighter finish personally. But regardless it is still magnificent looking after the coffee darkening too!

***I'm so glad I came upon this video and channel*** This was an amazing knife build and such an amazingly beautiful knife. This is by far one of the best knife making videos that I have come across on KZfaq and I totally appreciate it and can't wait to watch the rest. Also, you have a good voice for voiceover work, very clear and understandable. I am sure all your video courses are absolutely well worth it and if I could afford it I would be buying one right now while they are on sale!

Você está de parabéns! Esta faca é uma obra de arte em todos os detalhes. O aço trabalhado com exímia habilidade, o corte, o acabamento, o cabo de madeira lindíssima. Esse trabalho não tem preço!

Many years ago, I had someone like you create a knife for me to take back to Japan to my father-in-law. He was Samurai. The blade took seven weeks to develop, and I brought the knife on board the plane, where it sat with the Captain until I debarked and made it through customs. Your creation would have been an honor for him to hold. Great job! If you ever look up Japanese blades/knives I would like to see what you create. I am anxiously waiting to see.

the guys in japan would throw this knife in the video in a trash can, because you can not and should not cut damascus so many times , destroying the benefits only to achieve a pattern

Man the Royer clan building a juggernaut enterprise of bladesmithing education & entertainment; filming, editing, voice overs and, music selection are extremely well done and Kyle's craftsmanship is world-class! (What is the name of the track used at 11:08? I really like that song)
