So I'm definitely experiencing an over supply. As of right now, I'm managing it okay but its definitely a lot of work. #oversupply #breastfeeding #pumping

Can you please make a video about how you started off your breastfeeding journey to create an over supply in the beginning. I had the same issue your spoke about in this video and I am hoping to start with a bigger supply in the beginning this time so I don’t have to switch to formula later on. Ended up getting my period back quickly too. Thank you Lex! Also used your code for a glider!! Can’t wait for mine to come in!!

Would not use a pump at all and just use a Haaka to catch letdown on side he is not feeding from

I wish I could make a half of it. I’m struggling with my supply from the beginning. I tried everything and I feel defeated. Did you do anything different? Sorry for asking but I watched so many videos about increasing milk supply and nothing worked for me. Congratulations on your new baby and great job with delivering him🙂

Donate! I donated to 6 babies across Texas when I was pumping. It was the best thing I have ever done.

How do you go about donating? Do you know the mothers that you are donating to, or do you donate it to a medical facility? I think it is wonderful that mothers donate their milk, just wondering how it is done.

I so wish I knew how you make too much I struggle with making enough to just feed my baby's I'm due with another one in November and I'm hoping I can figure it out

The best thing you can do is find a lactation consultant in your area! They can help make sure you’ve got a good latch and they’ll do weighted feeds to make sure baby is getting what they need. Oversupplies like this are actually not normal and can cause problems for you and baby, so don’t look at this as an example of what you should be making for your baby. I think it’s amazing that women with an oversupply can donate their extra milk, but it’s not the norm!

I agree with finding a good lactation specialist to meet with, another thing that saved me was I started pumping before my babies were born in doing that my milk actually fully came in 2or3days before I had my youngest I made sure to have the colostrum available right after I had him and the nurse put a tiny tube on my nipple so he would get confused by the bottle that nurse was a Saint because same with my oldest the nurse just gave him the colostrum by bottle and then it was a really hard battle to get him back on the nipple instead of a bottle. Most places you give birth at or even sometimes in drs offices and always with midwife birthing centers all have a lactation specialist that will meet with you prior to giving birth, right after giving birth and then be there if you need them you just have to ask. I really really recommend meeting with one prior to going into labor I would say meet with her 2wks before your due. Sorry for rambling but hope this helps.

I was pumping about 8 ounces each boob every two hours prior to birth. I got my milk in before my kids were born and they were both preemies due to preeclampsia. Thank goodness I started pumping before they were born. I had a good supply in my freezer and gave them my colostrum that I had pumped probably a month before they were born.

That's awesome, Lex. I donated milk as well. I absolutely recommend becoming a donor. It was so rewarding, but even more so during this formula shortage. The screening process was very easy.

My first baby breastfeeding didn't go so well. My second baby I was producing 12 ounces out of each boob. When he was 12 months old I wanted to slowly start the weaning process but it jumped up to 16 oz. Per feeding. I said forget it we will keep going. Went all the way to 15 months

I feel you with the milk situation. A blessing for sure. I created an over supply on purpose but didn't think through the freezer spaced needed. Oops. But i have been able to donate to another mom who cannot produce breastmilk for her baby due soon. I just got approved to donate/sell to a milk bank. I plan to use that $ for a freezer.

Can u help me learn more about how to get a better supply? I am on baby number 8 and I always have a problem getting enough milk. I have to take lactation pills and pump so much but I only ever get an oz to 3oz! I was kind of wondering what is your routine? How many times to u pump per day and how long? Do u pump throughout the night? I just really want to make it to a year or so but I only ever make it to 3-4 months. It really depresses me

Pumping/BF mama here 🖐 My advise would be to pump from the very beginning. When baby feeds on one side, pump the other side. If you don't feel very empty after baby feeds, pump a shorter time to try to empty it. Water, water, water. Don't stress. Eat all the calories you want! Just like Lex, pump from the get go. Every 2-3 hours even through the night. You can always lower your supply if need be but it's so hard to boost it, at least it was for me.

Supply and demand. Stay hydrated! Oatmeal! Lactation drinks, cookies etc.

Oh I so wish I would even produce half of this. No matter what I did for both my kids I only ever produced max 4 oz a day. Had to pump exclusively cause even after seeing a lactation specialist BF hurt so bad, I’m super sensitive. I gave up at 3 months for both of them cause it was just depressing that I couldn’t produce and messed with my mental health. It made me feel like I failed both my babies. I’m super happy for you though. I wish I had someone I could get milk from.

Hey lex I have a question (breastfeeding wise) I have one boob that is a over supplier and one boob that’s starting to become a over supplier I exclusively breastfeed but I’m wondering if I should pump as well my boobs are never not full but I don’t want to pump and he not have enough milk for his next feeding any advice?

There is a formula shortage my daughter's baby turned a year old in June and it's crazy. She is trying to give him regular milk and give him formula at nap time and bed time and through the day sometimes she combines the two just to get by and it's really expensive to. So breastfeed if you can because it is really hard to even find formula right now. That was a great video for women that are having a baby. Good luck everyone who is expecting.
