Ric Jason Borderline personality should be more difficult to diagnose, but also they are showing one needs a new set of eyes and ears to give the right dx. Believe me - I was getting diagnosed with teenage depression when I was dealing with PTSD and probably as a teen already Borderline personality. Disorder ( back when Iwas a teen though Borderline personality wasn’t existing yet as a recognizable psychiatric disorder

I'm also pretty sure she realized that that wound won't kill her since she is in a hospital. If she really wanted to end her life there were more serious injuries she could've caused herself.

My biological father is a psychopath / narcissist. I know what it's like when noone believes you while being abused mentally, emotionally, socially and physically and get BLAMED for it.

Crazy isn't a diagnosis. Insane isn't a diagnosis. No one with any form of mental illness, even ones that make them a threat to themselves or others, are crazy.

Just her attitude was enough to tell me that she's wrong. A good psychologist will always think of their patients first rather than their own pride. I've been in and out of therapy since my early teen-years and I've met many psychologists and psychiatrists like her.

@@vaska1999 Clearly. It makes me wonder if it's even worth seeking therapy, when you are treated by those sort of people. "I've had twenty years experience! Blah blah blah!" Okay so that means people like her who are supposedly 'renowned experts in the field', instantly know me better than I know myself as an individual? "Thanks for your help Doc! I might as well go catch a train now, since I'm a washout then." And don't get me started on medication, a 'quick fix' which it turns out makes one feel much worse than they were before. Either due to constant reliance or a series of detrimental side effects, no better than alcohol or illegal drugs then. At this point, I would say the only pragmatic and permanent solution to one's physical, emotional or mental ailments, is to concede.

Better to bleed to death with normal dignity ppl in clean hospital, than be tried to be killed by hammer again AND be traumatized for the rest of her life. That alone I could totally get it. The fear of getting LABELed as mental .....well, I don’t know how it works in U.S.; but it does seem terrifying😨💬.

And then there’s me wanting an ASD diagnosis changed to ADHD. Well actually I would rather not be diagnosed with anything as an ADHD diagnosis would also be not good for me but I’m pretty sure I have ADD instead of autism.

@@rachelcookie321 I am autistic. Diagnosed. My psychologist told me recently that autism and ADHD quite often go hand in hand. She thinks it’s possible that I have ADHD as well. I am not hyperactive, but she said that being the opposite can also be a sign of ADHD (lethargic). It’s quite fascinating, really. I never thought of myself as having ADHD.

@@dmf1301 yea, there’s ADD which is a type of ADHD but without the hyperactivity. My mum has been saying for years she thinks I have ADD.

​@@rachelcookie321 ADD is actually renamed in the DSM-5 as ADHD: inattentive presentation, versus ADHD: hyperactive presentation (there is also a third which includes both types of symptoms). ADD hasn't been an official term since the 80s, just sharing incase this info will be helpful in the future. One reason it was changed is because the inattentive (or non-hyperactive) type of ADHD is usually found in girls and mistreated or ignored throughout childhood as it does not APPEAR to interfere in the child's life or children around them through hyperactive/distracting behaviors. I myself was diagnosed (inattentive) late and its messed up some aspects of my education, so I hope you get the answers you're looking for!

@@meng_jan A simple one. But it's a bit of a story. There was this incident with a housekey. I didn't have my own, 'cause my parents liked to have control over me. Some kind of a sick game, I guess. Whenever they wanted to punish me for something, I had to sleep outside. Even in the frostiest winter. They just laughed about it... Anyway. My father once told and showed me, where they hid some spare keys. But some time later, when I wanted to grab 'em, I did not find them, where they should supposed to be. When I confronted my mom about it, she just laughed at me for decieving me. I went mad and yelled at her. Later on she told everyone, that I wanted to harm or kill her and she feared for her life over some simple "misunderstanding". Every soul believed her and didn't question her version of the story. But said psychiatrist did. He questioned her about this "misunderstanding" she was talking about. When he realised flaws in her story, he used it against her and asked: "Miss, if their is obviously some sort of a communications error between you and your husband, why are you blaming your child?" I will never forget her reaction. Instantly her kind and helpful behavior turned upside down and she went into fullscale-attackmode. She yelled at everybody for not doing their job. Especially the psychiatrist who questioned her. Everyone was finally convinced, that I told them the truth from the very beginning.

@@thatydanielle5867 Oh man, where do I even begin? I could publish a whole series of books about it. After her so-called "confession", I was released from the mental institution, went my own way, and never spoke to or saw my mother again. It was probably better that way. I had serious trouble adjusting to the world outside of that toxic childhood, without a family to back me up. But somehow, I ended up making it. I hated my parents for years for what they did to me. Now I just pity them for who they are. They are absolutely incapable of seeing their mistakes and taking responsibility for their actions. After a few years, I found out they got divorced. This did not surprise me in the least. Instead of self-reflection, they point fingers at each other like spoiled children on the playground and cover up their crimes by denouncing anyone who knows their little secrets. I once tried to build a healthy relationship with my father, but as I said, he did not change in the slightest. He took a new wife and put on the same show as before. He mocked and ridiculed me in front of his new wife and other people and manipulated our past in his favor. For example: he pretends to be a loving and caring father and he wanted to protect "the family" from my mother. But in reality, he was just a slavering bloodhound who never questioned her and always did her bidding. I got tired of it very quickly and broke off contact with him for good. Now I am just a failure of a son to him. At least that's what he tells his people.... Like I said, life can be harsh without a family to back you up. But let's be serious: with that kind of a family, you did not even need enemies. Even if it sounds crazy, but these days every single struggle in my life is like a gentle breeze compared to my childhood.

This reasoning is the exact reason why people who have severe depression (and other mental illness) attempt suicide. They don't know any other way to stop their suffering. People just seem to forget that people will do anything when they feel like they're trapped and there's only one way out.

I've got a 25 year old daughter who I think has a mental health issue, possibly histrionic personality disorder. She started acting out as a teenager and it's only gotten worse since then. About 4 years ago I had to go no contact with her because she made me feel so bad I tried to kill myself. Constantly putting me down and day turned up at my front door and said that none of my clothes were nice and threw away 90% of them and I was unable to stop her. I'm disabled and use a walker to get around and she goes batshit crazy if she sees me with it in public because she is embarrassed by me being disabled and if any of her friends saw her then they would laugh at her. One day I mentioned I was coming to town by taxi to get meds from the pharmacy and then we were going to meet each other afterwards at the supermarket cafe. Was in the taxi and I got a phone call from her saying that she had got the early lunch time at work and she wanted to meet her directly as she had to get back to work in 30 minutes so I agreed to meet her inside the cafe. Imagine my horror when I saw her waiting outside the cafe and her face as she saw the driver taking out my walker from the car. I'd planned on leaving it outside so she didn't see it so she was furious and stormed into the cafe. She completely ignored me and I ended up calling for the taxi to pick me up early. After I left my daughter sent a lot of hate messages. I had to go no contact with her. About 18 months ago I got a letter from her in the mailbox saying she needed her mum as she had broken up with her boyfriend. I agreed to meet and of course she got angry at me the second I opened the door. I was bald because of meds I'd been taking and explained that to her. We chatted over tea and it seemed OK. Then my hair started to grow and she got mad at me for not shaving it all off. When I said no, I was letting it grow out and she turned up at my door with a powered razor to shave my head and I told her no. More hate messages so I had to go no contact again. In May last year she sent me an email saying that she was pregnant and she would love it if I was part of her daughter's life. I didn't reply, more hate messages. I just can't do it anymore. If I have contact with her I just know I'll end up feeling so bad that I'll try to kill myself again. She is so dominant and nothing is ever her fault. I'm just tired, both mentally and physically. Having a family member with mental health issues like these is really hard
