It's impossible for any peel off/liquid wrap to be as good quality as an actual paint, the properties are very different and it's no way near as hard. I want the best quality paint finish, which is why I'm going through this process of a full respray. Also, peel off paint means you can't do any paint prep underneath, which means unless your car paint is perfect you'll get a rubbish finish.

So? It's his car and maybe he bought it for himself to enjoy and not form the next owner. I'm not into pink cars...a little to Paris Hilton for me. But when the day comes and he wants to sell it...he will probably have the only pink Exige in the world. Not from the factory, but still a unique car.

The plan is to leave it yellow like the Lotus flower. I'm realistic though, if it doesn't work too well in reality, I'll look to change interior bits to make it work.

I have considered this, but as there is a white pearl in the paint, I think it's better to keep things simple and try to get the best paint finish possible.

A few reasons why I don't want to wrap: 1) I'm confident in my colour choice, I'm sure the car will look awesome in pink. 2) The car has done 60k miles now, the paint isn't perfect, so a respray will make it look like new. 3) Wrap qualities are awful, edges lift and the quality of material is bad and has terrible gloss. 4) Wraps cost nearly as much as a full respray anyway 5) repainting the car gives me the opportunity to do a few other things while the car is in pieces

GFWilliams GFWilliams What about this stuff that is actual paint where they first spray down a peel-able coat and then paint normal paint over the top? It certainly looks pretty good. Have a look at topaz detailing vids. It is supposedly normal hard paint but first they spray a peelable later that it goes on, then the normal paint and it can be polished etc. It’s nothing like that dip stuff

A wrap costs not far off the same as a paint job, but doesn't even come close to the quality of a paint job. As with everything on my car, I'm aiming to have the best quality result, and a paint job is the way of doing this. Plus, I'm confident in my colour choice, I've done lots of renders and this shade of pink works very well on my car IMO.

Why can't a guy have a pink car? That just sounds sexist to me. @@GFWilliamsnet I hope it works out, but worry it's such an exceptionally bold colour, you'll find it more overwhelming in reality than you do in your mind's eye. Maybe Topaz Skin could provide a happy middle ground of giving the perfect finish/colour match without the permanence.

@@lefroy1 Unfortunately most skin/liquid wraps are so expensive that you could actually respray a car twice for the same price...
