I’m here from another trucker channel, Alex the Truck Driver. I’m new to these videos on trucking, but can understand, as I knew, how lonely it can be. I think the transition from always being on go but lonely as a trucker, to going flat. You needed to have a plan B to fall back on. Follow your Dream and stay strong!

I got out of trucking, mainly because i finally had a accident and honestly companies work you 12-14 hours a day, even if your local and get to go home everyday, i only had 2-3 hours at best to do what i had to do and sleep. Over the road definitely much worse then local but i got out of it, i wasnt happy. Making good money sure, was decent but not enough to live on my own two feet so i got a local job work 8 hours make about 2/3 of what i made in trucking but im happy and have all the time in the world. Not happy with what i do and still looking for that, so wish you nothing but the best dave, you got me to push through the beginning of my trucking career, so thank you for that, be here to see where u go next!

I subscribed to your channel for trucking. And I subscribed to a lot of TDs but to my opinion you are the funniest truck driver vlogger out there, bro. You always crack me up on the things you describe and the “fights” you create with yourself! I respect your decision, you’re entitled to it. And I understand you because I think I’m going through the same situation. I’ve been working in a WHS for more than 10 years and I desperately need a change. And I think in your field the mental health take a big toll and the need for a change feeling is exponentially bigger. My best wishes to you and many blessings, bro. I really hope that trip to Alaska will heal you! Be safe out there!

Hey brother. You were my inspiration last year to get my cdl. I did. And within months of doing it all the realities hit me. The hours were insane. I was tired. The pay was great but when did I get to enjoy it? I wasn’t being stimulated the way I liked. I woke up at work. Went to bed at work. It ultimately just wasn’t for me. And I felt bad about myself. That I had failed. But I wasn’t happy. So I guess I didn’t fail. Either way, thank you for the inspiration. And thank you for your honesty. I’m here for Dave. Not trucking. I’ll watch whatever content you make. Also, at the start of the pandemic I spent a year in Alaska. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It’s cold as hell. Bundle up, boy. Ridin with Dave forever. Funnily enough I am actually doing seasonal work in Alaska as of last week, in order to save money to be able to pay off debt and get my CDL. You are the person I credit that made me realize trucking was my pathway to success, and I will forever say that. Cannot wait to see what you are doing next, especially because youll actually be driving to Alaska first thing lol. OTR, regional, local, I want to try it all. I have always known that its a hard working and lonely job, but I never thought it would also be affecting you to such an extent. Didnt see the signs. In the coming months while I get prepared to get my CDL (ive been waiting until I turn 21!), I will seriously go over my possibilities and where I think I will go. I have already thought of this what feels like a hundred times, but this time itll be different. I just want to thank you for the entertaining videos throughout the years, and being the person that gave me a passion and excitement that I genuinely have never had before. I seriously was just kind of lost and wandering before, wondering what I was going to do. I cant wait for the journey ahead. (Am on a new account by the way. Went to see how many comments I have, and 1! Lol. But seriously, thank you and I truly wish you the best)

We completely understand how you feel, Dave. Your well-being is the most important thing in the end. Trucking isn't an easy lifestyle (there are some good things about it, but the cons tend to outweigh the pros), so good job trying it for a while and for sticking it out for as long as you did, even after you lost interest in it. And just like you said, you still have your CDL, so you can always fall back on it if something changes in the future. Whether you enjoyed trucking or not in the end, those few years were not wasted. You got some good experience, learned a lot, and probably saw some cool new places too. Good luck in whatever your future endeavors may be.

I found your trucking vlogs and it brought back the memories of hitting docks and all the issues of dry van driving. I've enjoyed your videos and can relate to spending all of your time away from home. However, it is hard to stay motivated enough to be able to create new content when you have lost the passion. Hey Dave, I don't comment that often but God knows every day you have a new video out, once im done for the day, thats exactly what im doing. And you were the one who got me into trucking and I thank you so much for that. I didnt know you grew to hating trucking, I would have told you long ago to stop. Hearing your backstory was nice, and needed. But we love YOU, not trucking...You find something you love and you talk while doing it, thats why 100% of us are here, not because its the trucking we love to see. Your personality, your jokes, YOU are what makes this channel. And if this channel takes a dive in views, who cares? Your still making videos of what you love and people will watch if you see the passion you have for what you are doing. I look forward to the future of this channel. Well it's the same here I started 7 months ago when I thought it was a really good job the work itself is fine of course like everything nowadays they try to turn it into some fucking reality show where you're under all of these stupid time limits everything and etc basically metrics kpis dumb shit. So my job I work from home I do customer service and I do wonderful customer service the customers telling me all the time about how I'm patient etc problem is that's not what the company wants they're all about speed and I have tried tried tried to speed up I'm not meeting my call times they believe that the calls ought to be handled within three to five minutes three to seven minutes maximum. So basically I've had this job for 7 minutes decent and my wife and I are in a position that we can go buy a house problem is there's a chance that I'm going to fail my call times again this month which is going to generate a third write-up and so I would have next month but if there's no improvement I would get literally fired because there is no forth right up first it takes 30 days to close on a house whereas I will have the money by the middle of next month that I have to match with the bank but I'm not going to have enough time to close on a house before I would possibly get fired I really don't know what the fuck to do. I'm a lot of things right now I'm angry I'm upset I'm sad depressed confused scared. I've been trying to transfer into another department however I've basically been okie dokie and then when I go to our internal application to see what jobs are posted they really don't have anything and what they do have requires all kinds of stupid college degrees even though I have over 20 years business management experience. My boss told me that I would be pretty good at being a product specialist except they don't have that opening. So where we would most likely buy a house it's true that I would most likely have to give up my work from home job and go back into the physical work environment but on the other hand I'm not certain where we're going to buy it so I'm not really ready to give it up I would if I can find acreage particularly in the middle of nowhere and I would be forced to give it up at that point because I would not likely have proper internet speed to do the job. But that trade for land house would be worth going back to the physical work test and I'm frustrated enough to basically say fuck it all. Of course that's part of my frustration I want so bad to throw my arms up and just say the hell with it but I can't sleep I know that that is most of the populations frustration I'm not the only one I know that it's literally becoming very hard for everyone they've made everything very very sadistic retail management back in August and I went to this job and it's been really awesome but then of course like I said they want to shit all over it with stupid micromanaging bullshit. And of course we the common pee on worker have zero recourse. Of everything I mean the reason why I decided to look in as I don't want to have to pay some jackass anywhere between 1600 and 2200 every 2 months just to live why would I want to pay rent I mean if I'm going to throw down anything close to that amount of money I think that I would much rather have an opportunity to own the joint. Not to mention I come countryside I cannot stand the city I was basically forced out of business and I was forced to move into the city 6 years ago I've tried to make the best of it however I am out of my elements where the hell are we supposed to go what are we supposed to do I think anymore of the general system is making it quite clear that we're basically just to work and pay taxes and die they don't give a fuck if we have a dinner plate yet they expect us to perform as if we're the tip top shape. So basically where I'm at right now is trying my ass off to you do better and get my call times down and meet the impossible requirements which I don't really think is going to happen and I hate to say that because everybody says that well if you think that way then it won't happen blah blah blah now the problem is that is being held to it for 4 months out of training and I'm still not doing wonderful I've come a long way the numbers certainly aren't as high as they used to be but I mean they'll write you up if you're too fucking points over. Cricket I know I'm not the only ones subjected to it my coworkers are more situ ation but I asked questions not only because I just generally wonder that and not only for myself but frankly I wonder where the fuck is all of us going to end up somewhere in the next 6 months to possibly 5 years out I mean everything is literally under garbage anymore even our jobs are basically how to get us it feels like honestly fuck that they are I should know I was in management. Basically towards the last of my management career I guess I was seeing as a lousy manager because I didn't care to go and randomly ramble to staff about stupid horse shit I also refused to fire people over nonsense like for instance at one point I worked for all these Park in the outlet you know yeah there's motherfuckers are crazy they want to fire people over a damn points card. And then they really will that pick at micromanage I mean I had the store assistant manager come to me and tell me how to literally stand while I put price stickers on shit but I was actually the third manager in charge of the store I was to run the front end which means handling their stupid points card shit they wanted me to literally write up and fire cashiers over not getting supposably enough card recruitments.

I got my class A when I turned 18, grew up around trucking and thought I loved it. I’m 25 now and no longer love it either. I used to do it because I loved it but now I do it for a paycheck like a normal job. I love driving trucks but hate trucking. I’m local and even that doesn’t help. I make more trucking than I would at 99% of the jobs around me. I feel kind of stuck at it because of the money aspect. Long story short is I can’t blame you at all, in fact I’m jealous you’re done with it

I left OTR trucking to be a Fireman. Now 27 years later I’m almost ready to retire. Can’t wait. Fireman has been the best job ever. I’ve looked forward to going to work every day. Always fun. But I’m ready to retire now and just fish, hunt and camp. You have to enjoy what you’re doing or you’ll always be miserable. Find something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. That was being a Firmen for me. And the money is stupid good if you work for a large department. Way more than I’d ever make driving or even owning a truck. 👍🏻

Dave...as a fellow driver of almost 13yrs now. I was told and I might have said it to you. This profession is a love or hate profession. I love it. Always have. I enjoy the road more than not. If you aren't happy, get off the road. Don't be ashamed. You always have to be happy and passionate about what you do and life. I recently just did a 43 day turn around (I'm a self authority o/o.) I enjoyed every day and Mike. It has been an absolute pleasure to lay down in my sleeper and watch you drive. Or whatever you do. All I beg of you is to NEVER change you outro song. It truly suits you and it is like my cheers song now. I'm looking forward to what you do next. If you decide to take us along I'm her for you. I will NEVER unsub your channel. As a ex soldier as well... "Ride or die" and as your riding with dave..I'm riding brotha. ❤❤ P.S. If you go through North bay, ON I hope to possibly meet you.

27:00 if you ever go back to trucking, you migh want to do short deliveries, city deliveries.. Something which let you be home every day or at least every 2 days. So you don't have to be away for months too. Good luck with everything! You ispired me to some very good ideas for my VTC on Euro Truck Simulator 2, I know is not real life, which is a complete different thing, but I love the way you showed all the stuff in real life trucking ^^ Good luck with everything :D BTW, best outro ever with Escape song

You have great content! When I found you I was amazed at how much you talk and Segway into multiple conversations. I will certainly stay on board with you. Do what you do. Create an adventure for yourself and bring us with you! Think of Seinfeld. The show was about nouthing. That was the whole premise. It turned out being one of the biggest tv hits of all time. Your positive and upbeat way of filming is great and contagious. So many of us live vicariously through our channels as some of us can't get around or are to old OR We are stuck where we are with no leaving options. From my point of view you already have to voice and spunk that makes u a hit! Think about it, there are so many channels that are out there that never grow even tho they know there craft and do a good job. But it's there delivery that sucks or they just can't sell it even tho other channels can. You have the talent to grab attention. You have the following that will hang on and see what's next. And you created the desire in those of us that have subbed. So you do you and when ready come back and crush it. We will be waiting to see what's next . Be well and drive on!

While your trucking vlogs attracted me to this channel, it is the random things you talk about while driving that keeps me interested in watching your channel vs. other truckers. Looking forward to more of your ramblings with whatever direction you take. The only part that has me confused is that if the issue is being away from home and not so much trucking, couldn't you have found a middle ground by getting a local trucking job and being home every night?
