Shotgun Chess is GENUINELY a cool game that also happens to frustrate me a lot, which is my own cross to bear. It's a bit like chess meets XCOM meets Into the Breach, and it shows. Check it out!

Respectfully, there’s something very cool about taking items that lower the kings hp and just lobbing a kingly alm grenade and killing him on turn one. It’s how I finally beat Very Hard mode

The soulstrafe round was like those scenes in slow motion when the character narrowly avoids bullets, knives and obstacles while classical music plays on a gramophone in the background.

I had queen's soul into the moat, knight's soul to below the king, then step back down into the moat to get out of check. His move ended up being better since it got a kill too.

It feels like the backseating for this game is even more egregious than most. At least for some of the other games the backseating is decent advice half the time. This game it feels like the backseaters are just yelling advice without any actual knowledge on how the game works (or how chess works even)

Game's simpler, yet way more difficult, than what chat is used to. Chat gets more confident as simplicity goes up, and dumber as difficulty goes up.

What got me was that he has strafe, all he had to do was strafe soul at 37:38 and very likely to kill but he never uses strafe when it's actually useful xD

the "take the loafers CHALLENGE" continues. AND IT CONTINUES AGAIN. WAIT. WAIT. THE LOAFERS HAVE BEEN TAKEN. WE POG? *BREAKING:* Local egg misuses strafe once to get the wrong idea, moves when he could strafe all the damn time, then takes the worst synergy possible and kills the run. Egg unlikely to take strafe ever again ... he takes loafers immediately the very next run AND HE'S GOOD (enough) WITH IT NOW? +2 MOAT, LOAFERS, SACRED CROWN, KNOCKBACK. THIS IS HAPPENING. ... that Floor 10 left me with no words. AND THE RUN SUCCEEDS?! Truly, one of the worst/greatest to ever do it

he misused it pretty much the whole time, he ignored probably the best use for it (being able to shoot things while moving out of check) and instead just used it on every single shot he could possibly find to use it EXCEPT the best use for it

Yeah, that's all well and good, but do it on their own time when they're the one playing the game. The problem is those people project their playstyles onto others thinking it's the only way to play a game and anything else is a complete waste of time and wrong.

1,5 hours of Shotgun King, let's gooo. I can't get enough of this game. Completed it on every difficulty though not feeling like farming for the achievements (at least until the difficulty update comes out). I hope workshop support will bring many many more hours of replayability.

Shotgun king, but you're now starting with 8 pieces. On the opposite side of the board stands a sole white king. He's got a shotgun. It's now your turn to watch your people get blown to smithereens as one vengeful son of a gun hones in on you. (Probably not the most fun long-term, but role reversal is bound to tickle someone's fancy) Not sure how you'd do the leveling, 12 rounds to stop the AI seems like a lot of time invested on one run

It was funny when the bishop round where everything promoted he could’ve won because the last bishop was on 2 hp but he moved instead of shooting it and then they promoted to another bishop

D&D player here. Always take the buffs to your action economy. Being able to double your action throughput makes you too agile to pin down.

Sniper is actually really good...When he got it though he was basically already lost because the opponent had 2 rooks and a queen and almost no pawns to block them so he was mated on like turn 1. With sniper though you can take out a lot of pieces from long range. Even though it takes a turn to load, you can fire out your whole clip. It makes a really strong opener as you can take out the knights before they come anywhere close to you, and when the opponent's queen manages to get outside of its pawns you can take it out before it becomes a threat.
