Aligning oneself with love can be attained in infinite ways, even when living a solitary existence. Max explained that he wanted to follow his heart and be close to his family. My comment was to support him on his personal quest. Yours may be different. Either way, I'm a firm believer in finding your joy. 🥰

While I of course love my wife, kids (all grown up & moved out), & dogs, I do envy yours & Occys' life. I can't think of many things better than travelling around in a tricked out van like yours, with my best friend(s). @@MaxandOccy Max, One of the things abt Tyler & Todd that you may or may not know is that they are also both realtors. If you reach out to them especially name dropping (lol) the Vanwives who they’re excellent friends with, they may be able to give you tips for free abt purchasing land for off grid living. Idk for sure, just a thought. Also, you may want to reach out to Bryce (his videographer is his partner, Rasa pron: Rah-sah) of “Living Big in a Tiny House.” They have toured tiny homes worldwide & though since the pandemic they’ve mostly been sticking to NZ, Bryce might also have some ideas for you to find land. I know he’s written at least one book but don’t know if it covered land buying or alternatives or just covered tours & tiny home builds. But I’d give it a go to reach out to him from one ass KZfaqr to another. He & Rasa are on their 2nd tiny home they travel with. Can’t recommend any places in Australia bc I’m an ignorant American that way-seriously-have enough to do to keep up w/managing my debilitating illnesses & the asinine political system in the USA. Bluff Knoll, The only place where it snows in Western Australia. Did you see any Quokkas by any chance? There is a Colony down there, and they have been spotted in the snow at the top of Bluff Knoll .

Re: your off grid home, Remember on the east coast we have had fires and floods. Property that never flooded before have been affected. Also we have probs with termites so maybe look at doing a shed home and install a incinerator toilet to avoid the black water issue. Also speak to local council as some are only just coming to terms with shipping container homes. Good luck with your search , looking forward to watching. 😊

@MartyT is a New Zealander who has a house up on a mountain that he powers with self-made hydro-turbines built out of old washing machines. He's a very patient and logical mechanic and seems to specialize in rescuing lost/broken/abandoned machines out in the bush and making them work again then using them to improve his compound on the mountain. He's definitely worth a look.

It is a beautiful area. Nice people. Community housing, good food shop and very special people. I'm living in Germany. Good luck with the land search, roots are so important for your mental health. I’d recommend Girl in the Woods and Bush Radical, they’ve built a lot of off grid properties with lots of practical knowledge. You probably already know about Tyler and Todd but then there is Green Dream Project and Tiny Shiny home who build with mud❤️✨

Have you heard of Geoff Lawton, Zaytuna Farms! Definitely check out his videos. He is completely off-grid. I keep thinking about Australia. Just found your channel, and now I'm realizing that not only are the best healers from Australia, but WOW! Had no idea how gorgeous it is. Geoff's property is inland, gorgeous, but different. Life is definitely a mysterious journey!

It will be so nice for you to have a home base. I’ve lived vicariously through your channel and others until I can get on the road. Retiring early with a plan for home base in Masan’s in Arizona (SKP park in Benson). Working out the financial bits now. Just like you are studying off grid planning, I’m studying all I can to end up with the right van for me. So much to consider including budget. Your journey has been an inspiration. Not just the travel, but the importance of self care, kindness and giving back where you can. Thanks for the kindness you put out into this world. It matters!

I would look up rammed earth societies in Australia, kinda popular there. I like idea of tiny in a collection of structures...with passive house designs. Kirsten Dirksen is good youtube channel for off grid ideas and material choices. Also think hemp bales is good for insulation as it continually soaks up carbon dioxide. Rammed earth is flood, fire, insect proof. Maybe think about a tiled roof made with clay and basalt ash for fireproofing. If build tiny ...fun to explore "expensive" options...like slate roofs, attached sunrooms, or semi underground root cellars, floor heating to even out room thermal gradients. Pinterest has lots of diagrams for eco buildings. 🐕🐶

I also recommend Elsa Rhae and Baron. They have been successful living off grid for years in a Scamp trailer. After purchasing their own land, they slowly worked on storage container studio/off, and A frame guest house, and our building their small home presently. Though in Colorado, and a different environment, they really target sustainability.

I love Macenna vlogs for everything learning from scratch redoing most of her home. She didn't start off grid but she is remodeling a very old home. A lot of inspo as far as what I would want to potentially do to my off-grid home.

SO excited to see what you create next, Max!! I’ve recently decided that I want to buy some land and put an off grid tiny home on it, here in the US. With the outrageous and rising cost of living here, it seems like the best option. Crystal and Jaz did a wonderful job with their land and I’m sure that they will be a tremendous help to you. Also, after three years living in our bus, we totally get the need to buy some land to build a home to go to between travels. Max and Occy, love your videos. That water is just simply gorgeous. Can’t get enough of that scenery. Our water in Vancouver is a little darker, 🤣🤣🤣. One of the early items to do is build a garden, so you have some food during your build. It takes months to get a crop and around 3 years until you know enough to sustain yourself. I like the gardener from Australia. He's on KZfaq called "self sufficient me".

Hi Max, fellow Aussie here. I watch "The Indie Project" they're a lovely English couple that traveled in their van and then settled in Portugal, rebuilt an old barn and then bought another piece of land. While they were in Canada a wild fire went through, so they're now rebuilding the infrastructure. I also want to buy land and just breathe, as I come from a farming life as a child.
