A good way to gauge the dresser size in your room or closet is to either cut a piece of cardboard to the dimensions of the dresser OR use painters tape on the wall and tape off where the dresser would sit. It will let you visually see the size

My grandson and cat moved in with me two years ago. Every time I vacuum I am amazed at the amount of hair. I threw away a whole cat’s worth this morning 😁 I put my dresser in my closet and love it. It gives me more space in my room and all my important papers fit in a small bin that I keep on top of it.

I think you can do way better than an ikea dresser. I bought a vintage , mahogany dresser with serpentine drawers for around three hundred dollars. It’s sturdy, dove tail drawers too. The dog fur. Story of my life with three fury bablies. You’re looking really pretty.

Carla I know what you’re dealing with as I have two cats! Dust and hair everywhere and one likes to sleep on the floor behind the curtain!! I also cleaned my bedroom and rearranged it this week! I think you would be able to find a beautiful dresser at a thrift/secondhand store that is much better quality and not as expensive. My home is 97% secondhand.

I own a 140 lb mastiff. I get fur, not as much as you….but I get goober - on the walls, the furniture, the tv - the joys of loving a dog lol

I definitely can relate to all the dog hair. I have a German Shepherd and the dog hair gets out of control if I don’t vacuum every other day. Love your videos Carla.

Oh girl, I have days like yours too! Love, your Barbie outfit! My adult daughters and I all wore pink to see Barbie too! We also have a dog that when you clean out under the bed, there is a a whole blanket of fur! We have a Husky! Love how you always include Samson in the video! I can’t believe those electricians did such shoddy work! How unprofessional to leave a whole in the wall! My dad was a jack of all trades and remodeled his whole house and built a garage, and always did beautiful work! He often did odd jobs for friends, and I can sure tell you, he would never have left the wall like that! He always said, any job you do, do your best! It’s sad, these guys thought that was okay! Also, I laughed when you said it’s so hot and it hurts my feelings- me too girl, me too!

When I became a minimalist and severely downsized my wardrobe (can I even call it that anymore ? lol!) I got rid of my dresser. I don't have a walk-in closet. I did put those 3 drawers on wheels (plastic from Walmart for dorm rooms) That holds my undies, jammies, etc. Everything else is on hangers. On less thing to dust and gather clutter! Congrats on your new mattress!

I would say you don’t need a dresser! I used the same bin style throughout my entire closet and it helped organize folded items. And I only hang the super nice things and finnicky fabrics. Feel you on the too hot to function in the outdoors 😅

I don’t blame you for not buying anything for the bedroom in all that heat 😮…The cleanup was great, I’d just wash the curtains at the bottom, they look lovely in your bedroom. You can build the Hemnes dresser! I built the hemnes 56” double sink, the 24” sink, the 58” tv stand, and 2 of the glass door cabinets. The instructions are well written on those at least. So far so good but our tv stand and cabinets don’t have the soft close feature that our sink cabinets have, and the white stain isn’t as durable as the white paint option. Get the painted option!

You’re doing great, Carla!! That feeling of being overwhelmed can be so hard to cope with. For me, sometimes it can be downright debilitating. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I’m learning to be ok with taking a couple of days to regroup after a major decluttering job. The fur is a never ending battle for pet owners. I have to have a dog that doesn’t shed due to allergies, but if I wasn’t allergic, I’d have a Pomeranian and probably a couple of cats….so my house would be just wall to wall fur. 😂

I once had 5 cats, I kept finding them, I had to scrape my furniture before I could clean. Now 72, have two short hair dogs that do not shed much but hubbs and I both stopped getting haircuts when the pandemic started and our hair is long and falls out a lot more than when we were young, cleaning out the vacuum looks like we work in a thread shop. Enjoyed this video, super hot in Denver too, saps all my intentions, can only work in early morning. Thank you, you are adorable in pink!🙂

Agree with previous comments, perhaps venetian blinds or curtains that just sit atop the window sill. Mattress looks comfy. I know what you mean about trying to think in the heat.. impossible to make decisions. We lived in Australia where summer days reached 42°C (107° F) regularly, not good to make plans in those conditions.

Ok I am still decluttering and cleaning/organizing and getting rid of more stuff. Still in disbelief on how much was accumulated in 10 years after moving abroad. And when people give me actual gifts I get anxiety so I am only ever giving cash or experiences moving forward so I don’t contribute directly to anyone clutter. I need one final strict purge from every room and I will be in a good spot. Already seriously purged and organized my office. 2023 is the year!

Someone else also mentioned task rabbit to build the dresser. I’ve heard building them can be quite cumbersome so that would help save you the overwhelm! Do you have Home Goods and TJ Maxx? They have furniture already built ready to buy and you might get lucky and find something! 💜😊🌺

the UNglamorous lol it’s so true. I was looking at your curtains, and maybe you could hem them (or get a shorter pair), so that they hit just at the bottom of the window. That would still block light, but most of the furry part wouldn’t be there. Thanks for sharing!

I have put together multiple Ikea furniture and sometimes I need someone’s help here and there but I feel so good putting it together myself. That and user a power drill make me happy. However the last bed frame I bought from Ikea and had delivered (by mistake I requested for it to be assembled and had already paid for it unknowingly) so when they came to assemble it and it took them 25 minutes I was so happy! It would have taken me an hour or more I am sure. Whew! Sometimes that extra help makes all the difference!!

You chose the ones I actually have 2 of there drawers painted white and changed handles as well. They are beautiful ❤

As someone who had a husky mix for 14 years, I feel your pain! He was never once allowed on the bed but hair was in the bed frame just like yours 🤷‍♀️ I cannot tell you how much I related to you when you came out of IKEA without that dresser. Stores like that stress me out as there are TOO many options! Plus that heat would be on my last nerve too. 😂 Many have already mentioned it but that hair style is absolutely fabulous and makes you even more gorgeous than ever. glad you didn't buy something and regret it afterwards. I know the heat makes it extra hard to concentrate. I think part of it is dehydration to be honest. Have you considered maybe inexpensive blinds..maybe roll up kind...for your bedroom? One thing about laundering curtains that I remember from many eons ago when I worked at a dry cleaners. I learned that you don't see sun spots that curtains may have until you wash them in water. The sun spots can appear after you hang them back up and so..there's spots all over them. Just something I learned that it's better to just replace them after they've been in the sun for a time. Hope the movie was fun and that Cali will be cooling down a little this week :)

I have a free standing Elfa unit from the container store… I love it, you can have it on wheels and change the tops and colours of the unit.. and the best part was there wa little to no assembly required

Love the pink outfit! BTW - I get dog puff balls in the hall and my bedroom, especially under the bed. You have to constantly sweep or vacuum to keep them from taking over. It’s a conspiracy! 😅

It’s been in the high 90s with high humidity where I live for weeks now so the heat index is still over 108 most days. I have a mini dachshund & a chiwennie (mini dachshund/chihuahua mix) that also produce quite a bit of hair for little dogs! Thankfully our “little girls” aren’t long haired dogs or there would be a constant hair battle in the house.

Scope out your local thrift store, restore, or FB marketplace for a dresser and other furniture . A lot of vintage furniture have more drawer space than the newer stuff. Can’t believe the electrician was going to leave you that tube. I’m glad you told them to fix it. Get on the landlord to fix the hole soon. You don’t want any bugs from other apartments getting in your space. You can always say you’ll get someone to repair it if it’s not done in a certain time frame and deduct from the rent. Check with your loca” housing authority to see what your rights are.

Hey carla. Im glad you said something to them before they left. Its so frustrating when you pay for a joh and all you want is to be able to trust that their going to do a good job and do it right .then you have ppl who want to be lazy and take shorts cuts and hope u dont notice and still charge you the same thing and if they dont do it right you may have to repay someone else soon down the road to repair the problem again wasting your time and your money bc they just wanted to be lazy . Its ridiculous that there is so many ppl who rush a job and take shorts cuts and leaving a job unfinished or poorly done. Try giving Samson some avocado or other oil in his duet. You can also brush him with Avon Skin So Soft. Not only does it repel insects, it will condition his skin and he will feel so much better.

I brush my little one and get serious vaccum cleaning every two weeks. BTW If you were waiting to buy the dresser that long maybe you want to wait and check what Ikea is going to have for fall-winter if the one they have does not suit you perfectly?

Not sure if Ikea still has this Hemnes had a very tall and skinny dresser with 5 decent drawers) can’t seem to find it online now) but I love this for bras, undies, socks, etc. They used to have it in white too. It fits in those weird places where nothing else will. One of my favs!

Maybe look at second hand shops for a new dresser, you might find something perfect that does not require assembling. Also estate sales are a great source for good furniture, get on a few mailing lists so you know when they are happening.

Where did you get the white clothing rack thing that has shelves attached?? It's so nice! If you don't want a super wide/tall dresser that you worry you might not use, looking for medium sized dressers would be safer because each drawer would be for specific things rather than just extra stuff that need a spot. If that's easier? I don't know. For me I can't ever use dressers, it gives me anxiety knowing that sometimes you don't want to fold every single you put things away, and forgetting whats in the drawer because you can't see it from the front, so I use ones where it's just shelves. Different stuff give stressers. XD Gotta lessen it I love your videos!!
