5 жыл бұрын

I join ChrisFix, EricTheCarGuy, Humble Mechanic, and Matt Maran Motoring for one final road trip in my Honda S2000. This is all thanks to Shell for sponsoring the video and getting all of our cars together!
I bought my Honda S2000 in 2016 and I've loved it ever since. The car has been used for over forty videos, whether it's a DIY on how to change the oil or transmission fluid, to tests on various tires and brake packages, to modifications like a torsen limited slip differential with higher gear ratio, centrifugal supercharger, or titanium exhaust. The car's in a perfect spot, and partially, that's why I'm selling it. Any further might be past the point of no return, and where it sits is a very good package. The car has run its course on this channel, and though I love it dearly, I'm ready for the next project.
A huge thank you to Shell for sponsoring this video, coinciding with the release of the latest formula of their premium fuel, Shell V-Power NiTRO+. This latest formula is designed to protect against gunk, wear, corrosion, and friction. I've quite enjoyed using the fuel in my S2000, and it was a blast going for one last road trip with all of my favorite KZfaq friends.

Exactly, that's why I have 3, and none of them are reasonable daily drivers, all of them are older than 20 and were never meant to be daily cars in the first place... even though I know all of my occasional financial problems are a result of maintaining three relatively high-cost cars and a motorbike, I just can't get rid of any of them. I put every one of them up for sale in the past, and when the buyer called, I just couldn't tell them to come get it... it's a disaster to be a petrolhead isn't it. The only car I could sell was my first car, a very boring Ford Mondeo 2.5 V6 Ghia with countless issues, but even that hurt.

@@kiyoponnn My girlfriend tried to intervene before she drove them and decided they're perfect. :D 1997 BMW E36 328i Convertible, 1991 Ford Scorpio Mk1 Cosworth, 1981 Skoda 120L with a 1,4 MPI engine + turbo stripped out (about 800kg, rear-engined rwd car, 130hp) and racing suspension setup but it does have a license plate. ;) She wanted me to sell the Skoda, but that's the one I have more than 4 years of work put into so it's not going anywhere even though I don't have time to race it anymore. The other two are mint condition cars, the BMW has some tricks including a KW/Eibach suspension setup and some mods to reach 240hp from the 2.8, while the Scorpio is a very rare car and it used to be my grandfather's from the factory, I restored it completely as a side project... so yeah. They did grow on me.

@@EngineeringExplained I can't disagree with that. I guess 2019 is the 70th so at least it's a nice round anniversary. It's just a shame to see it go because you took such good care of it. You should make the buyer sign a contract stating that they will "emphatically love the car with their whole being and drive it like it was meant to be driven at least once a week." or else bring great dishonor on their family. I'm happy you got to take a fun trip in it. Memories are maintenance free and generally last longer than cars and you got to make this one on Shell's dime. Thanks for sharing the journey.

Engineering Explained still... the S2000 is basically perfection. Even today there’s probably still only a handful of cars that can best the f20c hp per liter while NA. Out of them how many are FR layout and manual transmission though? For what the S2K is and does, I don’t think there’s a car that does it better, or has a higher potential, and you have to remember that when they were making this car Honda was dominating motor sports, Senna was alive driving a Honda powered McLaren in F1 not too far back when they were probably designing this car, and they released it on Honda’s 50th anniversary. Obviously it’s your decision and you seem to have already made it, and yes ultimately everyone else’s opinion but yours doesn’t matter. But it is my opinion that *_YOU’RE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE_*

You went about the S2K completely the wrong way. 2 biggest annoyances of the S2K is the exhaust drone and the high engine rpm at cruising speed. It's hard to enjoy the car when cruising at 70mph @4k rpm's and the exhaust drone punishing your ears. This is why you shouldve turbod it, and INCREASED the gear ratios. Adding a turbo to the S2K muffles the drone, and transforms the car to a personal jet plane. With a turbo and longer gearing you can cruise 70mph @3k rpm with no drone and teleport to 90mph for a quick pass. That's the best way to enjoy the S2K imo

Hi there Jason. First of all, a million thanks for creating such informative videos! I'm a marine engineer who loves cars and a great fan of yours from the Philippines! And by watching your videos, I get to understand how things work inside. I have a question which is off topic from this video. I've bumped into a video of yours promoting the OBDLINK LX/MX. I own a Toyota Innova D4D (2KD) Asian version. I've read on a car forum that Toyota (Asian version) uses MOBD, not OBD2 - which OBDLINK support. I am not sure if it is gonna be compatible with MOBD. So before I purchase that, do you think it will work on my car? Thanks in advance!

Really sad to hear you parted with the S2000. You videos were a part of why I brought mine. You can claim you don’t get attached to a car when you compare it to your a Tesla, but I will wager you will have another one of these wonderfully designed cars before too many years go by. You will pay a lot more, but you will come to regret your decision. I know mine is staying with me. My 2 sons can fight over it when I’m gone!

when you added the supercharger, did you replace your cam to reduce/eliminate overlap? some say having valve overlap when you are on a supercharger just makes the engine dump boost into your exhaust, some say that turbos don't have the same problem because turbos introduce backpressure.

I definitely know the feeling special, Jason. I was a traffic controller during a special truck ride here in the Netherlands. I had to shut down crossings to let the trucks pass and "race" from crossing to crossing, and we were allowed to speed and overtake and such by the police to do our job. Overtaking a police car doing 70 in a 35 zone over a double yellow line is a very special feeling when the cops wave at you for doing a good job instead of pulling you over.

That slap at 10:28 was Karma :D (for all the traffic skipping and being 'rude'). Thanks for the video, Jason. Sad to see the S2000 go, though. As for fuel, I got an older (14ish years old) engine. General throttle response is a nick better, and avg. consumption is lower when fed Shell V-Power fuels (tasty performance one), over the others in Hungary. Not entirely sure of the composition of these fuels, but for me, Shell has won. The only thing I would like to do is take a measuring device and just see how much of it is actually Ethanol, and how high the octain in it really is.

I'd like if you tested regenerative breaking relative to speed on your Tesla. If you break from 60 down to zero in x time verse 2x time, is the regeneration the same?
@jaydunbar7538

No, if you decelerate slower you get more regeneration as it does not use the actual breaks.
