When I bought my house almost 8 years ago I never had my electric stove hooked up. There was no 220 plug only a hook up for a gas stove. I had 2 induction burners and a table top convection oven and that's what I've used all this time. I love my induction burners.

Hi there. WOW I’ve always wondered about those. Energy saver too! I love my gas stove, but cleaning it…uuuugggghhh. Try cooking steaks on each, see if one sears better than the other. You wouldn’t think it would make a difference, but you never know till you try it. 💖from me to you🇨🇦

My upfront warning would be how much more expensive the pots/pans/skillets are that you have to use for induction cooking. My husband got together with our contractor and placed an order for all the new major kitchen appliances during our house remodel following Hurricane Ike. Don't know where I was when that conversation happened, but ended up with an induction cooktop. Turned out was very easy to use, and I'm not mad at it - but nothing I had worked on it. So my trusty magnet & I had to go shopping for replacements! Steph, you're lucky you already had some compatible cookware. All in all, induction cooking is great - my husband hasn't missed any meals! Enjoy your Life & 🧡from Texas

My range is an induction stovetop and convection oven. The induction stovetop works by exciting the molecules of the pan and this makes the pan heat up. The burner itself does not heat up. The burner will only be hot because the hot pan was sitting on it. People say they like gas for stovetop because it's instant heat. That is not true. It's an instant flame but still takes time to heat up. Not as long as electric, but still takes time to heat up. Induction is instant heat. Yes, it boils water in no time. When you cook on induction you will want to adjust the setting lower than what you would normally use on electric or gas stovetop, otherwise you will burn the food. My stovetop has digital dials but it's still a dial. I've never seen one like this that has actual temperature settings. Seems like that would be very difficult to figure out how "high" you have it set. I love my range. My only complaint is the digital controls, which work by sensing your finger, are wayyyy too sensitive. The stovetop also scratches easily. Neither of those things have anything to do with how it performs or cooks though.

If you want more accuracy, you need to use 2 of the same size pans. The smaller pan the heat escapes with lower sides and more surface area. The taller pan the heat does not dissipate as fast and the pan is smaller in circumference.

In a fair and equal fight, the induction cook top would heat the water in about half the time as a gas or electric stove would.

I've been using a portable induction cook top for years. I disconnected my gas stove and removed all the knobs because I didn't want a counter surfing puppy to light it up when I wasn't looking. I never need more than one burner, but if I had to replace my stove, I'd go with induction. Your induction cook top won't get hot if there isn't a pan (made of ferrous metals) on it. It'll probably just sit there and beep to let you know it's on. It does use magnetism, and there's no heat when there aren't any iron atoms to get all hot and bothered.

I’ve had induction hobs for over 19 years now and I’m only on my second one (because we moved house). I love them for the safety aspect and that they are so easy to clean up, even whilst I’m still cooking, I just lift the pan wipe and continue and when you lift the pan the ring stops and restarts when you put the pan back down, the fact that there is instant heat to the pan and when you turn it off it stops is like cooking on gas but no waiting for the hob to cool before disassembling and cleaning, also, if you remove a pan and forget to turn it off, apart from no heat being generated it will also switch itself off after a few seconds. Being glass they do get scratches but there are mats that you can buy to cover them and still cook which I will look at for my next hob but I have seen someone, on KZfaq, just put a piece of paper kitchen towel over the surface and put their pan on that and it still worked, I keep meaning to try it but I always forget 🤪😂❤️

I sometimes use paper towels when frying to catch any splatter but to be honest it's hardly worth it as induction cooktops wipe clean so easily.

I watched this with great interest. I had a different brand I picked up on sale years ago for our camper in case we ran out of propane. I never used it, but took it out when we sold the camper. It was still in the box. Your video inspired me to find it. I got it out and found out that none of my regular pots and pans work with it, but my grandmother’s cast iron frying pans and my cast iron pot work like a charm. I have a gas stove that heats the house up when I cook to the point i have to turn the A/C down very low. I have started using air fryers to combat it so I think I will start using this burner. This won’t interest you carnivores, but mine came with a great bananas foster recipe. What a wonderful way to control the temperature when making it. Can’t think of a better device to flame run around.

You're going to LOVE it the temp is so much easier to control. I had a Nuwave version. Sadly I had it on the stove top while the oven was on and it melted the case. I loved it have to get a new one. The Nuwave has a safety mechanism that ft shuts down if the pay is not making contact with the cook surface.

The induction still is hot from your pan but not as hot as the reg stoves. It was hard to find pans 22 years ago. Now, it is much easier to find pans for the induction. You can clean it almost right away. I do enjoy my induction a lot more than electric or gas stoves.

My truck tailgate has a bed liner, so I have thought about buying a portable induction cooktop for when I am fishing or hunting and want a hot meal in the field. I have heard people using silicone mats on top of the cooktop to protect the glass. Others have used steel discs to heat non-combatible pans. Have you tried any of these tricks with your induction cooktop?

Cool. Induction cook tops heat the contents within the pan and not the pan itself, right? Love it. Love gas, too. By the way, you can make gas grates appear like new by placing them in a strong garbage bag(s) and adding maybe a cup of ammonia, and closing tightly. Leave outside overnight. Gunk is then easily removable. The gassy fumes do all the work. 😊❤

That's a really good idea, especially if you want the pan to get hot enough to ignite the towel which will then scorch the surface of the cook top...and scorch marks are next to impossible to remove. 👍
