I'd pick your board but it's a close call. Your use of flock and colour for the ground covering is superior but I really like how Benji added areas of bare ground to show there's been people coming and going, like you'd see around a village.

Yeah good prices are ridiculous As soon as I get back from my deployment. I’ll be starting my own garden. For all hobbits have a love for things that grow. On top of that I’ll be getting egg laying and meat chickens. The majority of the meat in our house comes from deer. But once a year we get quite a lot of beef, when the wife’s family slaughters a cow. Show us a video of your garden if you ever get the chance! Keep up the good work.

1. Just for appearance, I would stain and clear coat the wood trim. 2. Use that MDF board or a piece of plexi glass to make a top for each side. Plexi probably weighs less. Could be screwed to the top of the rim and protect the surface not being played with. Could also be done in sections so when you play 4x4 the unused space is still covered and becomes a table top for removed minis, dice trays, and beverages. Also protects from dust during storage times Love it. Hope the move isn't wearing you out

Wood and expanded polystyrene both aren't air tight and are breathable. So using PVA should be fine. I would leave it overnight before you apply paint and stuff, to allow the air in. Paint and glue for flocking will stop air passing through so you'll want to give it a bit of time to get the air in there.
