Today I can announce I'm taking them to the High Court - but I need your help .

After taking them to court for recklessly endangering the environment and all life on earth, can we also sue them for criminal negligence and corporate manslaughter for failing to prevent thousands of avoidable deaths by mismanaging the pandemic and crippling the NHS.

Chris; this is precisely what the world and this country needs. Parliament don't hold these charletons to account and I, like many others would have done, have given up any hope and just come to the realisation that we're run by corrupt, greedy law-breakers, that do so with such distain for the people that put voted them into their positions as an act of trust. I really hope this gains some traction and that other like-minded, well-known people can jump on the band-wagon.

Can you answer my question thst I asked Chris?
@alanlivingstone148
@alanlivingstone148 8 ай бұрын
Well Steven, I'm not a scientist so wouldn't pretend to know the answer to your question, assuming your information is accurate. What I would say is that unless there is some vast conspiracy amongst 90 plus percent of the current scientists then I think we can say we do appear to have a definite problem. However, even if it's not as bad as they say it seems a very big risk to take and there is no question in my mind that we can and should be moving to renewable energy as quickly as possible anyway. As I'm sure you know, if we redirected the large subsidies to oil and gas and put them into renewables we'd get there a lot quicker. I reckon that you'll have your thoughts on renewable energy too, sun don't shine and wind don't blow etc, but having had a heat pump fitted nearly two years ago and an electric car for about six months I certainly see the future as electric. I follow these technologies quite closely and see being able to use your electric cars battery as a "vehicle to home" being a big part of the solution. Yes, the battery companies need to solve the problem of battery degradation with using your car battery to help run your home but they are working hard on that. We would then be able to charge our cars battery fully overnight as required using mostly renewable wind power (currently underused and very cheap, I pay 7.5p per KW between 11.30pm and 5.30am, Octopus Intelligent) and use some of the power in the battery to run your home. I'm not saying it is the solution for everyone Steven but with many homes having off street parking of some sort and many people working all if not part of the week from home it's certainly doable for a lot of people and that would in time make a big dent in not burning fossil fuel. It's a complicated subject Steven and one that people have varying opinions on but for my part I see lots of advantages of trying to go electric using renewables and I'm happy to take the chance that we might be being conned. Cheers Alan @@stevenvater8720

@@alanlivingstone148 "90 plus percent of the current scientists" Were did that figure come from? The most highly cited paper supposedly found 97 per cent of published scientific studies support man-made global warming. But in addition to poor survey methodology, that tabulation is often misrepresented. Most papers (66 per cent) actually took no position. Of the remaining 34 per cent, 33 per cent supported at least a weak human contribution to global warming. So divide 33 by 34 and you get 97 per cent, but this is unremarkable since the 33 per cent includes many papers that critique key elements of the IPCC position.

@@tvguy61 The current EPC grades are assessed in a way not suited to the actual upgrade of our houses. As such it is not the regrading that will change but the methodology. And all houses can be upgraded - it is just that some like my own, built with solid stone walls before 1919 are particularly difficult. There are many people working on the specific insultation techniques appropriate to different building architypes. The reality is that it is the failure of legislation over the last 50 years that is forcing us now to upgrade almost every building in the country.

@douglasrogers3918
@douglasrogers3918 8 ай бұрын
@@tvguy61 Not sure where you are but all the housing associations are required to improve insulation - here in Scotland the housing associations I have talked with are planning to extensively upgrade insulation to a very high level. And yes, external insulation is practical - Grenfell used flammable PIA insulation but there are many other insulation materials such as rockwool that are not flammable. You should be asking your housint association what the plans are to decarbonise all the houses they control - including moving to below 50kWh/m2y (50 kWh per square metre of floor space per year) and the introduction of heat pumps.
@douglasrogers3918
@douglasrogers3918 8 ай бұрын
@@tvguy61 Perfect system with a communal heating network the boiler is replaced with a heat pump to deliver heat to all the houses. The issue is that the feed temperature is a lot lower - but assuming your home is well insultated, this will work fine. There are replacement radiators that look the same as a double panel - double fin radiator with built in fans that can deliver as much heat if that is required. The only other issue is hot water. This is best resolved with an electric heater under the sink. All this is not cheap but we need to force all landlords to put in place a program like this. Yes disruption is a problem but external wall cladding does not require this and changes to bring in heat pumps etc. should not require tennents to be moved out while the work is carried out.

That cost is for a property with requiring insulation upgrades, pipework and radiator replacement. Not all properties fall into that category. For those that do there should be reasonable grants to cover the difference in cost from a property that doesn’t require such work. Any such Government mandated change should be subsidised to a similar cost to the the public as changing a gas boiler taking into account a say 5 years of the energy cost savings. There are also reports of some companies that are telling customers they need full radiator replacement when they don’t as its work creation to do so. Get two or three quotes from a proper heating engineering company such as one of those recommended by the heat geek to provide a quote. If your radiators don’t quite reach the temperature required in a main occupancy room a simple air to air split unit in this room can help as many people don’t need the whole house to be at a that high temperature. There is a bit of a hang up at the moment about efficiency being the main driver on the design, whilst this is important it cannot become the only criteria when the customer is paying for the capital works now. This is pushing up costs as companies are worried about being sued if they don’t meet COP 3.5 or above so they over specify to cover themselves without explaining what and why they are doing this to the customer.
