I picked up the EF-135 2.0 a year ago for $500.00. With the EF/RF adapter on my R3-perfecto! No need to spend the extra bucks as the EF is known as the sharpest lens Canon introduced many years ago without any upgrades, till now.

Haha, you should be on stage! My first thought was wow, it is a bit of a monster but considering the relatively minimal weight difference, [and the adapter] it's not really any difference, it must have the magic RF construction, which usually seems lighter like for like, most of the RF L primes seem to be chunky, I got my 135 f2 for about 500 and I don't think I am likely to replace it because it can pull double duty up on the M50, but the RF 135 is perhaps the first serious RF L that I want, shame it's not f1.4 as previously rumoured,. I love the 24-105 f4 as a jack of all trades very handy walk-around lens, but if I'm being honest, I'm really a prime shooter by default, it can just be a bit of a tricky way to be! I really wanted an RF 85 f1.4 IS, but they went and made that odd DF thing! So, I'm still using the EF version!, some of my favourite glass still does not exist in RF form, and sometimes I think the advantage of RF over adapted EF is minimal if anything at all.

Pre-ordered it already before I saw your video, because it‘s one of my favored focal length‘s. Your pictures with that lens are impressive. Believe, that lens will send my 200/2L in retirement. My wedding photographer has this lens for his R5! During my wife and I's wedding back in August his R5 and 135mm were at their doctor and he was using his sony kit. On top of that, it poured. So when the leaves started changing in early October he got ahold of us and took us out for a secondary shoot with just my wife and I. The R5+135mm combo was present. The photos turned out beautiful. Such an amazing set up!

Thanks looks like a great lens. Too bad I'll never own one because its absurdly priced at $2,100 but I shouldn't be surprised, nearly everything in the RF system is absurdly priced. Its a real shame too because I owned and loved the EF 135 f/2, which was a great value at $999. Too bad Canon forgot what a great value was and priced themselves out of the market for longtime users like myself and many others who have moved to more affordable systems that offer more variety of both cameras and lenses at much better prices.
@michaelbell75

@@wendystumbaugh695 Except that Sony has 3rd party lenses whereas greedy Canon does not. Sigma makes a fantastic 135 f/1.8 ART for $700 less than this Canon and Samyang makes a very good 135 1.8 for a whopping $1,100 less than this lens. Canon is pricing themselves out of the market quickly and their refusal to allow 3rd party lenses is a huge mistake. Its the main reason I sold my RP, R6 and RF lenses and switched brands after 18 years with Canon.

In the USA, its the same price as the Sony version. Sorry the Canon pricing sux in your country (or maybe the Sony price is inflated in mine). Ive not fount the EF135 to be all that sharp or fast [focusing]. I see why it (and the matching EF200) have been discontinued by Canon. The Sigma is much better, but a bit unreliable (adapted to my R5) in low light.
@Marcus2233
@Marcus2233 Жыл бұрын
@@riotrob the rf lens would be around 3050 dollars on the current exchange rate pounds to dollars, my ef copy is fairly sharp, not as sharp as my 105 1.4 sigma art but the weight and size the ef 135 gets used far more, a day of motorsports takes its toll on your wrist with heavy lenses, looked at the sigma 135 but the weight again put me off as a primary motorsports lens but it's better than the ef 135 in every way bar weight 👍

I borrowed the EF 135mm f/2L several years ago (shooting with the Canon 20D) and I loved it! Always wanted to get one but never got around to it. Pre-ordered this lens yesterday, and I can't wait. Curious to hear how others configure their lens buttons. I like your crop idea for the 45MP R5, but I'm mainly shoot with the 24MP R3, so cropping in-camera on that body isn't as ideal. Very cool that Canon was able to get all that technology in this lens and still keep it light and small. When I heard rumors about this lens I never expected it to have Image Stabilization. I really dislike the ergonomics of the new RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (the RF 70-200mm f/4L version has better ergonomics, but I need f/2.8). This RF 135mm f/1.8L will (mostly) make up for that!

@@bngr_bngr but when we're talking about these distances, if your're doing an event or a family shoot with kids running around, it *is* easier to see your subject's face and what they're doing and it helps with deciding when to press the shutter. It helps to select your subject within a crowd to track them before fully pressing thr shutter. And it can affect the metering depending on the lighting conditions.
@gerrya2133
@gerrya2133 Жыл бұрын
@@bngr_bngr Sure, but some people prefer primes, and the ability to crop in for the mentioned benefits gives added options. And even with a 70-200, the crop can help. I'm speaking from experience. You can be on a walk for a family shoot and a couple of kids will run off with excitement. You don't want to wrangle them to stay close and capture that excitement. Having the option to crop in is useful.
@gerrya2133
@gerrya2133 Жыл бұрын
@@bngr_bngr okay, use the converter and then turn off the camera and disconnect the lens and converter, put on the caps to store it, put back on the lens without the converter, and then take more photos as they run back towards you? Sure. That makes sense./s Just becasue it's a feature that you don't use doesn't make it a gimmick. You sound like those people who called articulating screens a gimmick and could not help but comment about how useless they are every time the topic came up. Or any countless number of new features that have been introduced to cameras.

@@bngr_bngr Great. Zoom lenses are a great option and if that works with your style and gives you the results you want then I'm happy for you. But now we're back to square one where I mentioned how some people don't use zooms and they shoot primes. But we're also back at square one and it's clear you don't understand there's a wide variety of options and approaches to photography. If it gets results, it's a valid technique.

I love my EF 135L 2.0 on my R5 and it's too bad Canon is pricing the lens over my $1,000 US budget. The ending was great! ( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛) LOL

You don’t use a lens hood??? 😮 ok, I don’t really care. My ghetto non-L lenses don’t have them anyway. BUT, the 4 minutes of commercials inside of the 10 minute long video… we can talk about that! 😂

It’s so cute when people don’t get that videos cost money to produce and that money has to come from somewhere other than my kids mouths. And I am transparent. Told you about the ad in the beginning and checked the KZfaq notification for it too. And idk what the point of 10mins for the algorithm is. 10mins isn’t ever a goal of mine.
