I made $40K+ on upwork in 2 years and regret it. First, they charged so much in fees. Secondly, you have to buy their connects to apply to projects. Third, even I've been a TOP RATED PLUS freelancer, there is still a lot of competition, its not really easy to win projects nowadays. So yeah, you're absolutely right. Now I have direct clients, and I get paid via Payoneer which is convenient for me, faster payouts and very little fees.

Thank you for this. I got so sick of Upwork. The amount of crappy clients. There are just not enough good clients on there and the competition is crazy. Even though I'm top rated and 5 stars, I still have a tough time finding clients. Either way it was helpful because I built lots of skill thanks to the platform. So thanks to you and outside research, I decided to really go in on cold pitching. Let's see how it goes!

yeah I totally understand - it can be suuuuuper frustrating. Honestly at the point you're at, I'd definitely be diversifying your client acquisition to be off upwork!

and its getting worse. Upwork made it so some jobs cost 16 connects to apply. And some clients post jobs and never hire someone. seen clients with 3% hire rate. still watching the rest of your video while writing this. is there any other platforms you would recommend?

Hiya! I'd first think about who your target client is and where they're hanging out -- then I'd create a repeatable marketing system that allows you to get in front of those people with a great entry-point into your funnel of nurturing them.
