If Milwaukee makes a PACKOUT rollout case with one big sliding drawer it is going to sell like crazy. Nothing worse than stacking all your PACKOUT boxes and then needing to get something from the bottom of the stack

You should make yourself a little ramp that locks onto your bumper or some kind of magnet that temporarily holds the ramp so you can load and unload any rolling carts from your van. I did something like it and it worked a lot better than I thought it would, as the boxes were kind of heavy to pick up, and at the end of the day or at the end of a job anything easier is always better. From one wood butcher to another a little joke for you, I once saw a carpenter throw a long, pointed tool into another long pointed tool… awl in awl, it was a cool experience.

I have the Rigid,,, now these drawers ..oh no,, now I am tempted to spend,, Ahhh 1.Tip for you, use the 4 wheels. 2.Tilt one side to the van floor , then slide it in laying down .. 3. Go inside the van, then tilt the hand truck back up. PS , you need better wheels on your dolly. Great set up..

Another great video.I modified a hand truck to get my Dewalt boxes around.I use an aluminum folding ramp to get mine into van .It sits right on bumper then I just fold it in half and I have it store on back door of my van works great.A real back saver and also very easy to get in and out of van without having to step up into (for those of us getting older).

Nice. I just got into the packout system yesterday. I've watched too many old tradesmen make it look easy and fun to not do it myself. I have a gangbox on my truck that is coming down so I can have my bed space back

I just bought into the packout system today and decided to buy 2 drawer units and one larger box, forgoing the wheeled box. My thought was to customize a hand truck so I bought the exact base you have. Looks like my gut was correct because this video demonstrates everything I was thinking of doing! Thanks!

This and the last video I watched of yours confirmed what I have already been thinking about the Packout Drawer stacks. I have all lid stacks and it sucks because to get at anything, you have to remove every box to get at anything that isn't on the top. I will be changing over to the drawers as cashflow allows. This would also allow me to keep the drawer stacks in the shop, and then move them into my trailer when I need to get to a jobsite. Love it. Keep up the good videos. I really enjoy your content!

Thanks for this video!!! I was strapping the packout stack in my trucks backseat. So I have to unpack it everytime I want something in a lower box. I bought a 3 drawer and a 2 drawer with a base unit. I am going to try using 1/2" plywood for all layers of the dolly just to keep it lighter and lower. I bought 3" wheels (200# each) so I will never overload those. I only use a hand truck to get it to my truck. The dolly will be great in the garage. I can remove the wheels easily when stacking them in the truck. This is such a great improvement! Thanks again for a great idea!

Your such a great guy and so generous with your content. thats a great custom dolly with an elegant solution.Will be interesting to see how this evolves..I run the festool box's in two of my own self made sys port knock offs on dollys..( allows access to all boxes when stacked).. it works but I can see its not as flexible as your new set up...great channel ..

This is one cool thing about Milwaukee, imo. Can take the packout pieces a d custom mod them how ya want, if want to. So, as they do offer there own solutions.....they did give us options to let our imaginations run wild; and that’s cool. Great idea for dolly, and definitely gonna make one too.....as like low profile for edges👍🏻 Cheers✌🏻

Great simple idea thanks for sharing this. I’ve been trying to find easy modular and quickly movable solutions for the bulk of my tools to make my van easily convertible between work and camping. This is great! I was able to make my Dewalt dolly box swivel around like yours by replacing the wheels with much taller ones, so it increased the box height enough to fit swivel casters under the front. It works excellent for me, but the wheels ad 3” width on each side. And it would be great if they just made a dolly with no box attached, like Festool, or the tstak trolly.

Also, thanks for showing the process, even if you have to show it all with one hand (while recording).

They make hand trucks that have brackets just foe going over steps, curbs Ect. I used to deliver beer in the 90's . Look on the beer trucks. Miller, Coors. It will give you an idea. I'm sure you can figure something out. A (D) ring handle on a hand truck is the ticket, 1000 times better than a horizontal handle. If you could find an EX beer hand truck with an extension you would encrease productivity, and not screw your back up. You have a good channel. Not a bunch of B/S just to the point. If you work like that you will go far. New subscriber.

Two rounded wedges above the wheels. Attached perhaps with a slot cut for a hose clamp to pass through and around the hand truck post. Just a quick idea.

Great idea. You could add an aluminium triangle or something similar above the wheels on the frame of the hand truck to help keep the wheels off the bumper.

There is a hand truck with three wheels set in line on both sides. Delivery guys use them for going up stairs (might help getting over the bumper or your van) also a bonus if you have to negotiate stairs on the job site. I’ve been brainstorming over this same subject for the past 4 months. I really liked the fact that Milwaukee came out with the drawer idea. My hang up was the big box (the rolling one). I do use that box for bulky items. Just received the notice this past week that an “xl box” had been brought out. Now we’re talking. My dolly that I use for numerous things, drawers for the small, frequently grabbed items (bits,blades, etc), big box for the bulky stuff. I think I can pack it all up and only have to shuffle two boxes. Game changer for sure. My only change is probably going to be to leave the wheels off the dolly part. Or if adding the wheels, leave the slot out entirely. The space between the wheels should be enough for the dolly. I do see the reason you did it your way

Very good setup and ideas you have going. Maybe try getting some aluminum bar stock and attach to the hand truck in a triangle fashion. Add some plastic slides to the contact surface. This may allow everything to skid past the bumper and such.

Thanks for the content, have thought of making a dolly/hand truck similar to the festool? I’m making one right now with extruded aluminum frame and mounting the packout base to attach the drawer boxes . No need for a separate hand truck. Love the drawers, so tired of stacking and unstacking boxes.

I figured at some point you would just build your own cases but I'm sure the "plastic" ones are lighter. Great idea getting the one with the lid on top. I know that was an essential goal. Hard to find a hand truck with runners that also folds open like yours. Would be nice to have both features in one.

Those two drawer pack out modules are the best Milwaukee has in their system. They didn’t have those when I was looking around and I would have bought them.

Make a quick light weight plywood box with a slot on top for your hand and a ramped side. You place it against the back of the van, then roll the hand truck up the ramp for a smooth transition.

As for the handtruck wheel problem; check out Magliner's accessories for Handtruck stair glides, they mount to the wheel axle and bolt to the back of the frame, may need slight modification to mount up to yours but I have no doubt you could get that one on.

Loved the golf clubs in your van! You’re prepared for anything! Look into an appliance moving hand truck that has a track type set up for climbing stairs. Size may be an issue, though!

DAMN IT. Wished I'd seen your video a day earlier. Just bought the Milwaukee dolly yesterday. I had been debating over the dolly, the had truck or the tote with wheels for a base for my system. This set up is awesome because it give the dolly plus the portability over uneven terrain. Very nice indeed.

Great video and ideas. I didn't go with Packout but If I ever do switch, I'm doing this. Only needing one dolly for multiple stacks is great. You should add a link to one of your newer videos where you show the larger wheels with locks you changed to.

Boy am I glad I found this video. I have that exact hand truck, which has exceeded my expectation and works incredibly well for someone with a smaller van (Mercedes Metris). I've been eyeballing those Packout Drawers and felt unsure about buying them since I have a lot of non-Milwaukee tool organizers and a hand truck already, but this video really gave me some great ideas. I actually feel better about pulling the trigger on that purchase. Thank you, Spencer.

With all the woodworking talent you have, apply it to metal using a grinder and build yourself a extendable ramp for the back of that rig

I’d think about making a drop down ramp for the van. Eliminating the step up would be greatly appreciated after a long day!

You need a foldable wheelchair ramp , as I've gotten older I new eventually I would ruin my back , Titan ramps are good.

Adding a pair of UHMW triangles to the back of the upright support tube of your hand truck. Look at appliance hand trucks, they have a “tread” that really helps. I add some roller blade wheels to one, it didn’t work to well.

Great video. I'm looking at the Packout as well as the Craftsman TradeStack system. Packout is great but also quite a bit more expensive vs the Craftsman. No question the Packout is top shelf. I'm just a regular homeowner who likes tools and wants something like this. What I don't like about any of current dolly systems or the base units with the built-in dollies is the height with the handle fully extended. I'm 6'4" tall and want a dolly with more height so when I am moving it around I don't have to bend over. The dolly you use highlights how much more leverage you get with additional height.

Next time show us your custom golf club rack LOL.. Have you ever considered a flip down ramp on the back of your van ?

Try an appliance dolly. They have tracks on the vack of the dolly frame for that very reason

Pretty cool! I might copy and tweak your idea, i have 2 packout mounting plates already. Concerns i have are with stability. I think the packout is wider to get the wheels to the corners for stability. The other thing i would do for sure, is 3-4" non marring (grey rubber) rolling casters, 2 of them being locking casters (front 2).

I seen this video awhile back and just watched again. Great ideas and enjoy your delivery. Could try an appliance dolley, they are larger than the one you are using but have the back rail that aligned with the wheels that allows you to manage stairs better.

Thanks for the great design! Even the Milwaukee ruling box doesn't handle stairs well when the boxes are heavy. A hand truck make more sense and your design saves space.

@13:40. The wheels and the bumper....as a carpenter, you already know the answer. Make a jig, of course! 😁 A mini-me ramp that goes on the bumper? An aluminum extrusion (like T tracks) to make a half an A Frame to go on the back of the dolly?

I also did a custom dolly for my packout drawer stack but I went the opposite direction - maximizing the footprint for stability and using the overhang to store stepladders, levels, folding tables, etc. As always, it's all about what works for the individual

I made my own packout dolly using 1/2" HDPE, 4" casters and Kaizen K'NEX two years ago before the Milwaukee dolly became available, eventually I'll make my own hand truck for my packouts.
