Thank you for 24:40 of your time. After a couple of years spend in a basement a fried bring me this laptop and ask me to do something with, but on a budget. The issues are result from heavy water damage. If something cannot be repaired as it is, it can be transformed. Now is not a laptop but is a functional, fast, slim desktop PC.

This is an amazing use of old hardware. All this was missing was ditching the wifi card for a USB wifi dongle to leverage that M.2 key connector for an external gpu riser and then slotting in an Rx 560 and sfx PSU. I would happily use that as HTPC.

Great work, one idea though: Rather than a normal desktop it's a better candidate for a low power NAS since it has 3 SATA ports. There are 2 normal ones and a smaller one for optical drive which can be converted to a normal one with an ODD-to-HDD adapter. Use one as a system drive for NAS OS and you still have room for two data drives.

Love the videos man. It would be nice to see some more cooling mods, would make the case build way more worth it if you didn't have any thermal throttles.

I'm impressed with how much pertinent information you manage to get through while making that many english mistakes. It's mostly verb tenses so I guess that's why it's easy to understand anyways although it is a bit distracting. Cool computer project! Keep up the good work!

What I thought before watching the video : -High End Hardware Upgrade -Visual Upgrade (Hardware) -Superb High Performance Improves What actually happened : -RGB -Wood Case -Minimal Hardware Upgrade -Minimum Performance Overall : -Rig looks great because of the wood and rgb build -Performance still in 'meh' level considering it took 2-4 sec to open youtube. -Its a laptop in a wooden chassis. -Video still enjoyable because he explained everything he did and also the reason behind it. -Quality 7/10

Any one else confused to why he referred to the ssd as a disk? Ssd’s don’t have disks, that’s why it’s called a solid state drive? No moving parts!!!

you can't just swap out the lcd panel to anything, that's a bad idea. even if the display connectors are the same (they usually are), it doesn't always mean the pinout is. you could potentially short circuit the motherboard, exactly like it happened to one of my old laptop projects (RIP) anyway.. loving the way it turned out and thank you for the inspiration. i'm definitely going to try and build something like this in the future :)

Another thing, correct me if I am wrong, but one LCD might draw more amps than the original, so you could fry the board.

With all that heat damage, I suspect someone to repair this motherboard by putting it in the oven.

@Chris Valin I thought that as well, but no one with a heat gun is going to do that type of damage unless they didn't care. Ive seen what boards look like after they have been put in the oven.. This looks dead on. Sure a heat gun could do it, but why? and wouldnt the damage be localized instead of the *entire* board?
