I think he liked having some water in them so when he caught a keeper he just dropped it in the boat with the water. Granted it's not salt water but I'm sure it's better than just throwing them in a dry boat.

A good trick we use for Pike and other slippery fish is having a Nail or screw head protruding out of the wood. You push a small hole at the tail overtop of it and use it for leverage. Great on a tiny space!

Same with catfish, nail through jaw bone or, we used to nail them straight to a trees, cut around head and down spine, put skin off with pliers, then cut filets straight off

I love your construction and the number of fish you caught was amazing, they're all new species to me. You are inspiring, I was going to do the same years ago but with a large jetski with 2 vertical poles for a hammock setup. Now I will settle for shore fishing I think so we can just hike and fish and camp.

For the eel, you just gut it, remove the head and slice it into chunks and cook it. You don't usually fillet it.

I'm from KANSAS USA I used to have a Bic245 also!! Be careful that the rope should drape along the sides. If not it's nearly impossible to climb back into if you're wet. Lots of fun and beers in the 245
