I'm 66 with serious health issues, so my camping days are behind me. But if I was to try camping again, I'd try one of these cot/tents! Looks pretty cozy. But I am also 6'4" tall, so might have trouble finding one to really fit me. 😀

Agreed. Would like to see the ability to add two together, so a couple could sleep in basically the same rent. Shouldn’t be too hard to do, for the tent company, just add a second door, or all the way across the top, maybe. Possibly a whole different design. Who knows? Maybe they already have that. 😂

It was heartwarming to see you eat a Spam and egg sandwich for breakfast. I'm an American and many people I've encountered immediately say "YUCK! I hate that stuff" when I've mentioned Spam. I've always thought that reaction came from people who have never tasted it. When I was growing up, every now and then my family had Spam and eggs for Sunday breakfast after church. My father liked it cut in 10mm thin pieces and fried crispy on the outside. Before anyone comments, it's processed food so we didn't eat much of it. Anyway, that's enough Spam talk. I appreciate your videos and look forward to more.

@@thecatatemyhomeworkthat is very fair, I don't think anyone thinks it look appetizing in or just out of a can. Once you fry it spam actually looks much better and smells like any other breakfast meat. Whenever people are apprehensive I try to explain it like really tightly packed and salty pork sausage which helps some. It is worth a try just cut some slices and put them in a pan without any fat until they are crispy, then throw it on a bagel with a slice of American cheese and a egg.

When our church group went camping, everyone would help each other set up their campsite, which was so nice. And we had an option of staying in a tiny bedroom with bath and old furniture. But it was indoors and those of us too wimpy to sleep outdoors could "day camp" the two days we were out there!

The last time I went camping was with the girl guides was nearly 55 years ago there were 6 of us to a tent which were made out of canvass. We always camped near a small river. The laser time was for a week it rained solidly for 3 days the river burst it's banks and we had to move the tents twice. Everything was damp and I couldn't take anymore and phoned my dad to come and take me home. If it had been in one of those tents you show I'm sure I wouldn't have minded the rain and wet. I was only about 13/14. I've never camped since preferring a proper bed that wasn't just a sleeping bag on the floor and a proper roof over my head. But the tents you show are really quite lovely and comfortable.

I have two of these! Firstly, terrible for bad weather. BUT!!! They have three or four great utilities. 1. With two you can make a nice naturally closed off camp, get a windbreaker and it's a nice set up around a fire. 2. It's nice to sit on them. 3 (and this is big) I mostly use this inside other tents when you want an extra cubicle. I have a square tent and a couple of times with one other person I've used these so that we each have a private sleeping space. So pretty good.

Andy, I doubt very if anything could make you look bad my friend. Your videos are so uncomplicated they are very entertaining. When you say you love breaking down the whole duck, that is a way of paying homage to the duck, or so ancient hunters looked at it that way or getting back to nature. Yes, I do love camping and all things natural. Keep them coming mate.

My first time seeing this channel. Well, that was relaxing and entertaining to watch. Quite interesting camera angles, content and sights/sounds captured… I admire this gentleman having fun and being positive along with the work he needed to make this happen. Also, his testing of various gear is likely helpful to those individuals new and experienced at camping to see what may or may not make sense to purchase. Well done.

for that price, including an air mat, cover, inflatable pillow, AND sleeping bag, that's a proper china bargain, for a "one order" solo camping cot setup. i'm thoroughly impressed! (even if the air mat leaked) also: permanganate and glycerine are definitely a stylish way to start a fire. but i'm willing to bet, that glycerine contained too much water, that's why it took so long, and crackled so much. (it's VERY hydrophilic) if you get the good anhydrous stuff, and finer PPM, it get's going in

Went in the cupboard after this and there was no spam, gutted, you made me want that sandwich so much! I always wonder how Andy manages to find these empty woodland sites? I live in rural Oxfordshire which is full of rolling woodlands but criss-crossed with so many public footpaths and bridleways finding a nice, clear, quiet area where you can camp and light a fire is virtually impossible. They'd be a friendly Spaniel out with his owner on their daily walk appearing the moment you got the Sausages out!

The private land where I live is surrounded by secure fencing with signage making it very clear to keep off. To find who even owned it would be difficult enough let alone get their permission to drive though their woodland, cut down branches, light fires etc Whilst, as I say public land offers very little in the way of genuine truly secluded places. Especially in Kent which is a very urbanised county thanks to its close proximity to London and the South-East. I enjoy Andy's content but an genuinely curious about all this.

@@LilyGazou Believe me, it's hideous. Only last week there was a protest of "Right to Roam" groups seeking more access to land - and that's just to walk, let alone camp. There are even rivers to which paddling access is restricted apparently. I largely grew up in the UK but have lived in Australia for 25 years and land freedom (so much wilderness) is such here that I'd hate to have to go back to live in the UK. Enjoy your travels.

On the subject of building permanent shelters - particularly using wood. I've watched a number of shows made by some really enthusiastic and resourceful people who've built their shelters so sturdy they could conceivably qualify as nuclear-weapons proof. One guy was building a tiny shack using logs which were strong enough to qualify as primary load-bearing posts for one of the major cathedrals in Venice weighing a mind-boggling number of tons. Watching him labour made me think - "if everyone set out to do something similar the earth would be devoid of forests within a few short years." I think I'll stick with 3x2s.
