As a puppet builder, I'll tell you Halloween might be a great time to start trying to make articulated-face puppets, because Michaels and other stores have a lot of animal skeleton props around. You can pattern faces by using masking tape to build a pattern, much like you would with cling film and duct tape to make cosplay costume patterns. Adam Kreutinger has some great tutorials online about puppet pattern making.

For the ever impatient like myself I'd recommend getting fabric hot glue, works the exact same, but because it's meant for fabrics, it dries flexible so you can still use it for projects like this without sacrificing your posing

For anybody wanting to learn needle felting for free... Evan and katelyn just recently in the last year or so started doing needle felting. Both of them are 100% new to it and they both were super nervous at first ( which is so relatable ) but by the end of the 1st live stream they did ( shorter versions available on their first channel too ) they both felt confident enough to try different versions of felting. The full versions with step-by-step process is on their second KZfaq channel ( evan and katelyn 2 ) so if any of you ever have the time to watch it I would suggest watching. It made me personally feel way less nervous and more confident to try it myself by watching beginners instead of watching the others who have been doing it for years. They even give links for the products they used to do each project in their description box. Most items are from Amazon so they should be available still but not at a steep price like custom stuff can get. Happy crafting everyone!❤

17:33 airbrush nozzle vanished. Bet you anything, if you find it, it's broken. I was airbrushing foam pumpkins and managed to find my airbrush nozzle after it randomly went flying and I ordered another one (ridiculously expensive with the "higher quality" air brushes). It was broken along the threads. The "high quality" nozzle replacement literally broke apart when gently twisting it in place. Bought the "cheap" nozzles and haven't had an issue since. Go cheap. Seriously, it's a way better deal for a cheap multi pack. Also, the madness of looking for these tiny things is real. Along with realizing your art area, no matter how much you think it's cleaned, mid project, is a mess. Especially at the cookie crumb size of an airbrush nozzle. Madness. (Love how Momo came out!!!)

4:40 for anyone interested the glass dome sculptors use for the eyes are called “glass cabochons” and I believe can be bought at any local craft store and Amazon sells large packs for cheap. They’re fully circular and have a flat bottom so overly round surfaces might pose an issue

Fun fact: you can always scrape paint off of glass. So if you’re painting a face with an airbrush in the future, you can take a needle and scratch off the paint afterwards 🙃 Also, if I recall correctly, isopropyl alcohol can help to soften airbrushing on faux fur so that the fur doesn’t become crusty. I think a fine soft brush, like a toothbrush, is what Kaypee used, but it’s been a while since she mentioned it in a video so I don’t remember 🙈

I think you'll really like needle felting whenever you try it, it's quite relaxing and honestly pretty straightforward

Quick tip: I've seen other makers mask off eyes using poster putty (also called blue tack), a sticky but easily removable substance used for hanging (very light) things up without damaging walls. I have not tried it but it seems to work well for folks to mask small parts while airbrushing.

I've been dyyyyying to learn needle-felting and seeing as I plan to cosplay Sokka sooner than later (as soon as the top of my hair grows out so I can shave off the bottom of it LOL), I feel like making my own little Momo would be a good first project. I've definitely seen that eye technique before. I was also thinking you could use resin. I took a Primate Conservation class in undergrad and actually did my final paper on Coqueral's Sifaka lemurs. My prof has a French accent so he pronounced it like "Shi-fak(a)". I do think that was a great species to model Momo's face after, great choice! At the point when you were working on the clay face-sculpt around 8min, he was definitely looking pretty Sphynx cat-esque 😂
