the scariest part of this for me is that the friends just tapped out on him the moment he showed frustration. like they had no empathy or sympathy about their friend’s discomfort with his situation. they said he was choosing to give his blood but of course he wasn’t. that would imply that he had another option. and then he was just fully alone. that’s terrifying.

Yeah. They were all able to pay their rent, so to them it looked like OP was getting so much as a bonus. So much extra time and money! They didn't consider that OP had neither of it at the end of the day because this practice kept him too exhausted and drained to earn any money or use any of his time. And instead of listening to him and trying to understand, they immediately judged him as uncharitable and ungrateful.

How is it good writing when the entire story ends with a court case that makes zero sense. Even with corruption, the case could easily be posted online and spread around. Unless every person in the world was a vampire except the MC, the story doesn't make any sense. Being able to write a story and make it go dark fast is not good writing, it's just how creepypastas are written. The first half was fine, the second half revealed that the author has no knowledge of court systems or corruption. By having the MC be sued for blood, it's immediately illegal and would go nationwide on news and this ancient vampires entire system would be uplifted. This has to be one of the worst stories I've heard on a creepypasta channel....

@@MageMinionsOP I like the political commentary about our court system. Obviously the specific case in the story is exaggerated and ridiculous, but that's the point. Corruption and unjust outcomes are a reality in our world, and this story is satirizing that by using an extreme example. This is really a fairly common technique in tons of different works, so insulting this story for being unrealistic is just missing the point entirely. You dont have to like the satire, and it definitely is pretty out there, but it's definitely not a terrible ending.

The only similarity was when I had all my money taken from me and was told it was never enough. The cost steadily increasing. Fines out of no where for no reason making it harder to pay. I was searching the comments for something like this. I enjoyed the symbolism. The Vampire is a wealthy landowner who runs the town and doesn't care about anyone... only what is owed to him. When he wants something, he appears kind and helpful. Once you're in his debt, he shows his teeth. The blood is money or credit. The writer basically called (greedy) landowners all heartless bloodsuckers. Not that they all are this way, but that is a type.

I think the court would’ve ruled in favor of the narratator if the lawyer would’ve argued that one could only donate once every two months.

As I’m listening to this, I never heard the protagonist once talk about looking for a job. If he had one, he could have saved half the rent each month, and donated every other month. I know , I know, I’m talking about him like a real person😂. Great story!

Or at least ones that do something interesting with the idea, like this one. I'll admit, I never thought of one's identity as one being an open secret as they use their influence to abuse the legal system before, and I kinda like it.

Having actually been to a landlord/tenant court case due dispute... This is so far unrealistic that I checked out. I know its a spooky story, but that broke my immersion. PS: if this ever happens, fight as "agreed under duress" and "contract purposefully made in bad-faith for abuse". You'd easily win.

Regardless of whether you signed a contract or not. In the United States, I don’t believe it’s legal to sell your blood. Therefore, the contract would be void in a court of law.

This story is so well written but also straight up infuriating 😭 I feel so bad for the main character. At that point I would have just tried to end it all to stick it to Durham, it’s not like I’d be living a proper life anyways thanks to the contract.

Giving all the "debt" now would have probably been a good option. He'll pass out, due while unconscious and the blood would be useless to the vampire (a vampire needs to stop feeding before the victim dies as their blood because poisonous to the vampire at the moment they die).

This is a good vid to put out there... Please donate if you can. Blood or plasma, find a center near you and give if it is possible. The need is always there, and it may one day be you in that ambulance needing the charity of others blood. I persont donate plasma 2 times a week, and have been doing so for over a year, just passed 100 donations. There are no side effects, and honestly, it's made me eat healthier and drink more water. Plus, plasma donation pays a stipend for your time, so it's a win win

I don't know if this is supposed to be a horror story, or an analogy for the utter hopelessness of the current generation trying to just live while the wealthy continually sap us dry, leaving us as husks who just work ourselves to death in hopes of having a place to sleep and some glimmer of a future.

If you are a Vampire that needs a set amount of blood a day why not make an arrangement where you take a healthy amount of blood every two months provided you have enough tenants doing the same you should still get your fill

Honestly, this could all be solved amicably, negotiated behind closed doors with lawyers present. A little transparency and honesty at the negotiating table (along with longer rest periods) would have allowed them to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement. Durham's just an asshole.
