Nerf Cat isn't like my cats, every time they see my trains running, they're mindset is like this "MUST ATTACK, MUST DESTROY EVERYTHING!!!" and you don't even have to put food to lure them in either! Thing is, I don't want them attacking my trains, lol!

One time, when my family still had a cat, I set up my train on a oval of track in my family room. The engines were 2 Athearn Blue-Box F7A's (One was a dummy) and were quite loud. My cat noticed it and proceeded to *knock the train off the track!*

I learned this lesson the hard way- turns out cats and Broadway limited locomotives don't mix well 😬

@SMTMainline next time you should try a bowl of canned wet food, like Sheba brand or something similar - my cat goes crazy for wet food. Just make sure to take it out of the can, as the can edges can be sharp, and try running the train at low speed to start off with, gradually upping the speed until either you get the desired result or Nerf-Cat gives it up as a bad job lol

Now my cat rather likes watching trains, so much so that when I have them set up and they're stopped he tries to make them move, which more or less results in him knocking them over

And yes, he knows what's on that train, he just isn't hungry and can't be bothered. Remember...cats only care about what THEY want to care about, and no force on Heaven or Earth will make them move if they don't want to. Frankly, I'm surprised that he didn't leave you a little present in one of your shoes....if you catch my drift...

I once had a cat named Nerf! My cats used to go on my N scale layout and try to knock stuff over. I also had a a Labrador Retriever who tried to take balls off of my pool table during a game,,,,he was big!

If you want to make the cat hyper active just buy a cheap Lazer pointer that is a low power one a shine it in front of the cat it will stare at it and if you move it on to it the cat will jump like it's on a trampoline and try to get away from it at any cost even though it is only a colorful light.

I look at it this way Nerf cat is so used to seeing your mainline layout his mind wasn't with it I'm afraid. But it was kind of amusing that he had no interest in it. This reminds me of a short lived commercial where a man in a park had a sandwich didn't like it so he tossed it to park & City pigeons, surprise those birds eat anything but not this they walked over the discarded sandwich! Nice video I guess he didn't feel like chasing the train I had a Dog that chased my trains until one day he stuck his cold WET nose on the track and got ZAPPED because I had the train running so the power pack was pumping out current he got zapped and must have jumped back 10 feet he never did that again he didn't get hurt but he learned a valuable lesson.

You did fine. the problem is that Wilderbeast's whiskers were touching the bowl. Cats hate for their whiskers to touch anything. It is a very disturbing feeling. If you try with a bowl that is flatter, you might have better luck.

I get what nerf cat’s doing. Nerf cat knows that you’ll stop the train if he doesn’t interact with it while it’s running, so he waits for you to do so. Once you stop the train, he feasts on his goodies until you start the train again. This pattern helps nerf cat eat cat treats without chasing the train. 😂😂😂😂😂

It's possible he doesn't see it very well, cats aren't good daytime see'ers and the way he keeps sniffing the ground before realizing what's there kinda reflects that It's also 100% possible he's like "Ah ffs...my owner has his little moving boxes out again....I'm just going to stare at him with disdain the whole time"
