Using the RAINDROP and CRUSHED VELVET techniques, I created these Melt & Pour soaps- NO RESIN was used, just 100% glycerin soap! Side by side, I show you how easy it is to translate these designs into Melt and Pour soaps. While I wouldn't consider this a beginner project, once you understand the melting points and layering temperatures of your particular glycerin soap, these techniques are fairly easy.
Follow my channel to learn the basics, improve standard glycerin soap skills, plus up your MP game with unique techniques I use in my Art Soaps, and experiment with me as I push the boundaries.

You started taking off the plastic wrap and I got flashbacks to struggling with a 23 lb block of Crafter's Choice! The soaps turned out so well. I've never seem the raindrop technique before
@msTsoap

LOL- I was feeling those flashbacks, too! Luckily it was much easier to remove, but I was trying to be careful not to tear it and leave plastic in my soap. I've seen the raindrop technique going around the resin community, but only fairly recently- I think the trend started last year. I could be totally wrong though. Thank you, and thanks for watching!

if you brush in one direction a color.. then brush another color over going the opposite direction.. they become 'color changing' when you move/roll it to see the pattern.. one color. turn it around and the other will show..

You used the activated charcoal dispersed with glycerin in this video. What other ways do you use glycerin with your soaps?
@msTsoap
@msTsoap 6 ай бұрын
What a great question, my friend! I occasionally add small amounts to thinner sheets that I want to remain flexible, especially if it's not my go-to premium crystal clear. Like the basic clear doesn't stay as flexible, so I add about a tsp per pound, especially when rolling or curving like in my Ribbon Candy soap. That's mostly it, except I include it in my sugar scrubs. I also disperse the titanium dioxide in glycerin. Thank you for the great question! 🥰😘

@msTsoap

Thank you, and yes of course! They are basically re-usable craft sticks/stir sticks. They are made for using in resin, but make handy tools in the general craft and skincare realms, too. They are plastic, but you can sanitize and reuse them indefinitely, unlike wooden sticks which have to be thrown out often, as they are porous and can harbor bacteria and mold. I found them on Amazon, and you should be able find them easily by searching for stir sticks. Hope that helps! 😁🥰

Thank you very much for this video, I can't wait to try this technique for my next project. Can you tell me about the activated charcoal that you seemed to have premixed in the "mustard/ketchup" bottle (for lack of a better a description), is this a premix of glycerin and activated charcoal that you keep on hand? I usually jut mix as I use, but I like your premade container, better. thank you.
@msTsoap
@msTsoap 11 ай бұрын
I'm so glad you liked the video and can't wait to see your project! Yes, the activated charcoal is premixed in glycerin, it is time saving to me. It mixes in beautifully with RA, too, but I just like to keep the glycerin mix handy. I put the little steel balls in that they use for mixing nail polish to help shake it up. I put about 1 tsp of charcoal for every Tablespoon of glycerin- but that really is an estimate. I go by the consistency- can I pour it, or does it end up like a paste? If it does, I add a little more glycerin. If you want super saturated, the alcohol is a little better, I just hate opening the jar as it flies everywhere, LOL. Pretty sure I just got condiment bottles from Amazon. Thanks for watching!🙂❤

Thank you for sharing your talent on your channel. I have learned so much. I tried this and the soap was beautiful. I tried it a second time but I used mica instead of activated charcoal and my soap turned out soft. Would using mica cause this?
@msTsoap
@msTsoap 9 ай бұрын
First of all, thank you so much for watching and I am so glad you are learning from my channel! The only ways I could see mica causing a soap to turn out soft would be if you used a very large amount of mica and dispersed it in a very large amount of rubbing alcohol, and even then, the alcohol would eventually evaporate and the soap would harden. If your mica wasn't soap safe, perhaps there were additional ingredients, or you may have dispersed your mica in glycerin or in oil instead of alcohol, that may affect hardening. To clarify, I only use glycerin to disperse Activated Charcoal and Titanium Dioxide. I mix my micas in rubbing alcohol. Adding waxes, or adding too much honey can cause a soap not to set up. I sure hope I was able to answer your question and help you figure out the problem. Let me know if I can further help you troubleshoot. Thank you! ❤🙂
@jabelshan4908
@jabelshan4908 9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your response. I didn’t think I used to much mica. I may have used to much rubbing alcohol so hopefully it will harden up. Thanks again so much.

Can you tell me more about the charcoal/glycerin?
@msTsoap
@msTsoap Жыл бұрын
Hi, Taryn! I mix my activated charcoal (made from coconut- the shells I believe), with pure vegetable food grade glycerin, at about a 3:1 ratio by weight. I'm sure you can mix it in with other things, maybe the fragrance oil- but I haven't done that. I've yet to have a problem adding glycerin in with my charcoal or with my titanium dioxide, when I use it. You may have to experiment to get the right amount for you and your soap base. Hope that helps, as I wasn't sure what you wanted to know! 😁 If this doesn't answer your question, just let me know! Thanks for watching! 🙂❤

Unfortunately, the resin soap did not work. At what temperature should you add the saran wrap to the soap and take it off?
@msTsoap
@msTsoap 5 ай бұрын
Well, I add it right after pouring, and I don't pour it real hot, but a bit over the melting point of the soap, between 127-130 F. You don't remove the saran wrap until it's completely hardened and set up. It takes a while longer to set because it is covered. I'm sorry it didn't work for you. Let me know how else I can help.

Can you tell me please, do you get sweating with your mp soaps? and if so how do you deal with it? thanks so much 🙂
@msTsoap
@msTsoap Жыл бұрын
Hi, Lisa! I do get sweating sometimes, as I live in Florida, where it's humid as heck! The best thing is to avoid it altogether, by NOT overheating your soap base, NOT adding a bunch of oils or butters, NOT putting it in the fridge to cool, and NOT reheating too many times. IF it does happen, as it certainly can no matter how careful you are, you can spritz with 91-99% Isopropyl Alcohol & then wipe it off with a lint-free paper towel, you can also rinse in distilled water, then spritz with the same alcohol, and then in both of those cases, let dry in front of a fan or dehumidifier, rotating them to get every side. I spritz more than once, it helps the soaps form a slightly thicker "skin" on the outside, which can prevent the glycerin from attracting the water from the air. Some people just wrap airtight with saran wrap or shrink wrap immediately after they come out of the mold. I find that's just not enough here in the Swamps! 🤣 I "cure" them (which doesn't mean saponify, as some people think, but means allowing them to lose water weight) before I wrap them, usually with a fan & spritzing a few times with the RA. Hope that helps. I plan on doing a troubleshooting video some day, and I'll definitely include this, as it's a common problem. 🙂❤
