Sisi, you are one of a kind. The way you make recipes of different tribes is amazing. One would just think you are a native of that place. You remain the best food content creator I have ever seen. Keep up the good work and may the Lord increase you beyond your imagination.

This is God's truth! This was exactly the comment I left on one of her posts on Facebook. She does it like she's a native everytime, regardless of where that meal comes from. She's been my go to food blogger for donkey years! Well done, Sisi Yemmie.

I used to like ofe onugbu until I grew up to fuo onugbu. 😪😪😪😪😪😪😪. The never ending wash and rinsing. You start with lots of leaves and end up with a tiny amount for all your efforts. Don’t get me started on the Ogiri 😔. I always always had green nails for a week, picture going to school and church with those nails😫😫😫😫😫😫

This is the soup I want to make this weekend but the process of washing the bitter leaves is discouraging me. Dear ndi Igbo, please are there easier & quicker ways to wash bitter leaf? Help a sister out biko. Also, what can I substitute ogiri with if I don't have it? P.S: I've never made bitter leaf soup before. I've only watched videos of how it's made here on YT so wish me luck. T for tenks

Sis, I hear you!😂😂 As a kid I used to dread washing the bitter leaf to get the bitterness out but as an adult I’ve come to appreciate the slightly bitter taste and the nutritional benefit of the bitter compounds in bitter leaf. It helps to “cleanse” the liver and also lowers blood sugar.👍
@onyinyeokechukwu4074
@onyinyeokechukwu4074 Жыл бұрын
You can buy washed leaves in the market. But you’d have to boil them and wash them a bit before using. Also onugbu without ogiri cannot be complete but you can do with just maggi. Or you can try okpenyi

Washing bitter leaves reminds me of my Mum, I used to love assiting her washing the leaves which totally foams out like soap. I get so intimidated with using stock fish 🐟 to cook, I get scared cause of little bones for my kids. Does the Ogere stink like iru 🤔 😳 🥰

Similar process, different leaves. Some people off the charts go further with the concept of oha and use the rose-akwu extracts with nchuanwu/mint to cook certain types of jollof rice with.
