I made this audio oscillator on a breadboard

In this video, I demonstrate how to make an audio oscillator on a breadboard. This is a RC phase shift oscillator which uses positive feedback to generate a sine wave. The oscillator is very simple, and uses only a single NPN-transistor (BC547), since the oscillator is based on a common emitter amplifier. I also demonstrate that the DC-blocking output capacitance effects the resonant frequency.

why do we have to do a phase shift of 180 degrees? cannot you just take the output of the first amplifier on the left and feed it back directly to the base of that amplifier?

Thank you for this wonderful, informative video! I do, however, have two quick questions. First, I noticed that the lower ends of the first two resistors are grounded (thus putting them in parallel to the signal chain), while the third resistor is not in parallel, but in series with the signal chain; why is this done, and how does it effect the frequency, gain, et cetera of the circuit?

what way round does the capacitor go round from the oscillator to the amp I'm assuming its an electrolytic like the other one . Thank you my friend. Gary

Yes, the 10 uF capacitor is electrolytic. The positive (long) lead should go closer to the positive side of the battery/power supply. In the video, you can kind of see which is the long lead of the cap, since the long lead is bent when fitting it into the breadboard.
