#polycarbonate #3dprinting #recyclingplastic
Ivan's channel (Polar Day) / @polarday
Hello my friend!
Today I will try to print with high molecular weight polycarbonate. It is not a recycled polymer.
A friend sent me this pellet. Awesomely beautiful granule, how diamonds shine, if only such a jar of diamonds.)))
Usually I extradite the filament at 170 degrees. I did not notice the extrusion and decided to unscrew the nozzle. This is the horror I saw. The granules themselves are not melted at all, and even mixed with the previous plastic.
I decided to raise the temperature to 250 degrees, it is clear that the motor is slipping, but the extruder is still trying to squeeze out. Of course, it was necessary to raise the temperature more. At 250 degrees, the filament goes well, very difficult.
After ten meters, the material will become clean and transparent.
Let's print a test disk. It wasn’t there, my baby’s temperature was sorely lacking. But more on this printer can not be lifted. At about 265, the printer goes into protection.
I had to ask my friend to fix the printer firmware. Remove temperature restrictions. Ivan is a firmware professional.
The Teflon tube in the throat will not withstand such a temperature. Temporarily I had to install just such a design, this is a thermal barrier made of stainless steel with cooling.
I have not printed at such temperatures yet, it seems to me that if you stuff PLA, it will easily catch fire.
Nozzle temperature 315 degrees, became 70 degrees, pitch 0.20mm. nozzle diameter, 0.4mm.
And now we will create a wonderful glass using the spiral printing method. The polycarbonate material left is just enough to test the spiral print. If any error or failure occurs, then this
the experiment will fail miserably.
I print this cup or vase at a very low speed. Still, the full temperature of the polycarbonate melt in the specification is 330 degrees.
Another glass, let's say, from exotic materials, has been added to my collection.
I wanted to print something else, but I no longer have filament.
Do not be ill! God bless you and your family! See you.
