My own mother decided to not be apart of my life after I married my person. She didn’t approve and even after now having a little girl on the way she still refused and actually called the police on me to prevent me from contacting her again. I thought I’d be devastated but to be honest life is so much better now.

They all seem like really good couples, but the black couple seem like they really have it figured out. Like their relationship has a lot of maturity and wisdom in it. The healthier couple is the one that had a break. No high-school couple can be healthy all the way in my opinion. It's really difficult to get to emotional/relationship maturity with the same person on your side. You’re a stranger, and you don’t know anyone’s life and to tell someone they won’t last just based on how long they been together. Like one couple said in the video, we’re growing together. No relationship, by all means, is perfect. I have never once met any couple that has no imperfections, but yet they have been the longest couple together. So hop off and quit leaving unnecessary stress.

Don't stress guys, this one person is an idiot. My wife and I have been together since 8th grade. I'm 37 now. She is still fine as hell. 3 kids our son just turned 20. Having kids young is demanding but we knew we loved everything about each other. I own my own business and she is 3rd down from the top of her company of 500 employees. I'm a lucky man. Stay committed, honest, and loyal and there is nothing you can't do together. Instead of saying what is my partner doing for me, say to yourself what am I doing for my relationship today. I'm still with my highschool sweetheart too. 26 years and counting ❤ I can relate to the guy who's mom didn't come to rhe wedding. In my case, I broke up with my S.O. 3 times in the first 3 years because my mom was so against him. She would spray holy water at the front door after he'd left in the hopes the devil wouldn't return. We only really got her blessings on her deathbed. I was 21 at the time... I am so thankful for my husband, he never gave up on me, after my mom's death everything fell into place. I loved my mom, but I wish she would have been more supportive and accepting.

20 years together and 9 married. Feel very lucky, we achieved a lot with academics, travel, work etc individually and didn’t rush into marriage/kids. It’s been pretty special growing up and going through various life stages with the same person by your side 😊

As an Asian, the concept of a high school sweetheart is very foreign. If people have one, it usually means they're hanging out at lunch and behind their parents' backs after school, probably not sleeping together. And if your parents ever meet them, it'll be after college and you'll probably pretend you were never a thing while in high school.

I often wonder what my life would be like if I married my HS sweetheart, I was the one who broke his heart. I moved on though...had a failed marriage but had 3 beautiful kids (who are now young adults). Remarried and had 2 more kids that are now teens. My 21yr started dating her partner as he was graduating, he's 1yr older, and they are holding strong 4.5yrs later at college. My eldest & his HS sweetheart broke up and it was devastating to him. My 15yr is dating a 16yr young man we adore, they've been dating for a year in 3wks. I can see the potential for them....but I'm nervous. I know she loves him, and she's a very wear your heart on your sleeve type of young woman. But as a mom I worry about the heartbreak if they don't work out. ❤

I'm sorry I really think marrying your highschool sweetheart without having a break or growing in your own is a huge mistake. The one couple that did take that break seems the most solid and mature. Growing alone is huge in finding yourself and in turn a mate that works for the fuller human you became.
