So... I met Yoyoka and spoke to her and her dad. It was surreal haha. Wish her the best of luck in America!

You're that weirdo that once told me that you didn't want to react to Yoyoka's videos because you didn't want them to dominate your channel in views. So the 2 videos of hers that you did react to have been the ONLY 2 on your channel for going on 2 years now. You're nothing... if not a man of his word. That's probably why you're still hovering at 7k subscribers after all this time. Yoyoka has 8 major endorsements, mate. Zildjian, Pearl, DW, Remo, Moridaira, CYMPAD, Vic Firth and Roland V, which incidentally is the sponsor this video was shot to promote. In all the time you spent not watching her over the last 2 years, she's played with superstars on stage to combined crowds of over 60,000 people all accounted for, been featured at NAMM, been inducted into Drummer World's Top 500 drummers of all time, recorded with Billy Sheehan twice (he even laid down the bass track for a song on her last CD) and Ian Paice , in addition to a wealth of other accomplished musicians in Japan and in the U.S. and has been made an honorary visiting professor at Innovative University in Tokyo! In that time she's put up cover videos and insane collaborations of all kinds that have reached well over 3 million views all totaled... and THIS Roland V commercial is what you decided to react to....?? LMAO!!!! You're the same dude that said you were going to challenge her to a drum off on this channel a couple of years back too! lol And now all of a sudden you're excited to meet her? You're cornier than sin, my guy. Reacting to her videos works both ways, you know. It brings you traffic and it brings Yoyoka traffic. while YOU may not care about that part of the game, the algorithm being shifted in Yoyoka's favor, even just a little bit by "content creators" such as yourself could have helped the girl out a bit over the last couple of years. You're channel certainly isn't going anywhere, but you could have looked out for the kid. It doesn't matter you're a goof anyway.

@@johnmcsmith594 I appreciate your enthusiasm, I really do, but I was in the music industry from 1990 to 2008. I've been signed to all kinds of labels, indy and major and have shared the stage with more bands than I could think to name. But with all due respect, if you think that Yoyoka has "made it", you have no living idea what you're talking about. What Yoyoka has achieved right now, after 9 and 1/2 years of playing, is INDUSTRY RECOGNITION and nothing more. And that recognition is centered around the POTENTIAL for her capacity to grow and become her own musician. Presently she's a competent drummer who is primarily known for playing drum covers of other successful recording artists, half of which (the ones that are still alive) are 50 to 60 years her senior. All of that flies right now, because she's a child. But in 6 years she'll be an adult and when that happens (if not way before) if she can't come up with something more substantive than playing drum covers nearly exclusively, the first thing she's going to lose are those endorsements. If she doesn't begin to cultivate a fan base HER OWN AGE that can grow with her, instead of dying before her, she won't have a career. Unless she stays on KZfaq and continues to emulate classic rock and contemporary pop songs. But no one who's "made it" does that, let alone has made a substantial career out of it. Luke Holland, who started off his KZfaq channel by playing drum covers, soon shifted over to drum remixes and that is when he caught the eye of artists like "Skrillex", "Starset" and Jason Richardson. But the covers were a stepping stone to posting his own reimagined percussion pieces to those songs. And the artists were all CONTEMPORARIES of his age bracket. So, he was able to actually capitalize off his own creativity and become sought after for TRUE COLLABORATIONS with those artists in addition to becoming a sought after sessions player and even joining a band on his own. And Yoyoka isn't half the drummer Luke is at this stage of her development. Meaning that while she can cover other people's music with relative ease, she hasn't exactly set the world on fire with her own band, "Kaneaiyoyoka". And without original music, a contemporary fan base and people to support her original efforts as she grows, she will be relegated to one of the great novelty acts that could have made it, but didn't. Take my word for it. If Yoyoka Soma is going to have a viable career at all as a drummer, whether it's with her own band, as a sessions player or as an original artist, that's going to require the support and encouragement of people who want more from her than to relive their high school years through her emulated drum covers. To this date not one artist has asked her to contribute an original composition of her own creation to their music. No one outside of her own band that is. And the overwhelming majority of her "so-called fans" don't even know she has one. This is all too clear when you look at the average view count for most "Kaneaiyoyoka" song, versus any substantial cover that she's done. The disparity is abysmal. So, no, she hasn't "made it" and yes, she needs help support and all the encouragement and exposure she can get. Especially where it comes to continuing to write and develop HER OWN MUSIC. Even the most paltry of KZfaqrs can lend a hand in that.

@@johnmcsmith594 Yeah, I've seen every interview the kid has given (not just on KZfaq) over the last 6 years and I've been subscribed to her channel since she was 5 years old, friend. And you horribly misquoted her. She never said that drums isn't something that she doesn't WANT to do in perpetuity. She said she doesn't know if drums is something that she WILL continue to do after a certain point, because she also has other interests. But since we're talking about her drumming here's where you're totally disconnecting. There is an entire world of difference between what Yoyoka "wants to do" and what she "has to do" to get what she wants. Her obligations to her sponsors for example, which incidentally have to be fulfilled in order for her to continue doing anything related to drumming on a level that involves more than her making cover videos in her house. Endorsements are contracts, my friend. All that equipment that she has comes from those sponsors. She's a product endorsement for all of them. It's how the brunt of her trips across Japan and around the world are funded. Pearl and Vic Firth and DW and Zildjian and Roland V and Cympad and Moridaira and Remo U.S.A.... THEY NEED her social media followers up whether she's personally interested in that or not. Yoyoka is humble and she isn't seeking super star status through social media. But she's not stupid. She's a contracted ambassador for all those companies products. And she gets paid for that too! And this going to really blow your mind, but you can't go on a "world tour 1 time" if no one knows who you are and your tour isn't sponsored! In order to be able to do a "world tour" massive amounts of people have to know who you are and actually WANT to see you all over the world. Yoyoka has a LONG WAY TO GO before she has the level of recognition that would even pretend to warrant such a tour. Therefore her social media numbers need to continually rise so that she can keep putting money in her sponsors pockets and they can keep putting it in hers. Yoyoka is a brand and like all brands she is a part of a business and businesses exist to make money. What do you think videos like this are all about? And why is she never on a virtual kit except when she's basically doing a commercial for Roland even though she has one at her house? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7yEfbGdm9jWdWw.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9R3pb11x7fbdok.html The kid has been drumming for 9 and 1/2 years. This is not an arbitrary, take it or leave it, thing for her. She's very serious about being a great drummer and she's also extremely conscious of what needs to occur to make that happen. Don't misinterpret her. She's saying that she'll play the drums until such a time that she looses interest in them. And that's an "if" not a "when".

@@jackspratt7264 The problem with all Japanese musicians is BECAUSE they are in Japan. If she was in the U.S. and speaks English well like the natives, then she would have more following, a LOT more. Just look at Nandi Bushnell. She isn't half the drummer Yoyoka is but have 2X the following. She is in a bigger market, and also is a English speaker. It is a shame that Yoyoka is in Japan along with other Japanese musicians. At least Yoyoka is coming to the U.S. for tours, whether it is as an ambassador for the sponsors or not she is slowly gaining fans. I Hope she gets big. She has put out 3 albums already, but they are in Japanese and for Japanese market. These albums will hardly reach English speaking people which is a problem, but she is a PRODIGY. She isn't JUST a cover drummer who is JUST competent. She is more than that. Hopefully, she will associate more with musicians in the U.S. and other English speaking musicians. It seems you know a lot about Yoyoka but you FAILED to realize that she is a PRODIGY or maybe you do, but didn't state it. I know what you are saying about her fan's age and how it would effect her fanbase as she grows older. She is known for Rock and Roll classics but most young people are not into that which could be a problem as she ages. Hopefully she will mature into a better composer in the future but that will be up to her fate. I think she is getting better as she ages and it is pretty scary how fast she is getting better. Hopefully, she will be better known by Western artists because she deserves it. Ian and Grohl and other famous artists already do recognize her talent which is a BIG help.

@@1flash3571 The problem isn't that Yoyoka's fan base is averaging between 40 and 60 years older than her, it's that THAT GROUP only wants one thing from her and nothing else... covers of music THEY like. They don't care about her original music compositions. They don't care about her longevity. They don't care about her interests in music other than rock or metal. They don't care about the fact that Square Enix tapped her to lay down the drum parts in 2 of their "Final Fantasy" remasters or any of the other cool projects she has coming up. They only care about her classic rock and metal covers and that's the problem. If she continues to let those fans keep her locked in a box, she's never going to have wider appeal, especially to people her own age. See this? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kJuihLWHqL3alJ8.html It doesn't matter that Yoyoka is in Japan and that she barely speaks English. Or that Nandi isn't half the player that Yoyoka is. Nandi isn't the greatest drummer, but she is a marketing GENIUS! And in this age of "INFLUENCERS" she's smart enough to know that she needs to appeal to KIDS who are as old as she is, before anybody else!!! The problem with Japanese musicians isn't that they are "in Japan", it's that they can't see PAST JAPAN. And they end up stuck in primarily Asian markets. Look at how big BTS is all around the world, including the U.S.. They are HUGE!!! Why? Because if you want to be known all around the world, you have to have world wide appeal and marketing. Koreans are pretty good at that, shout out to YG. Because Korean everything is on the rise over here and around the world, especially K-Pop. Yoyoka wants to be known all across the world too, but her marketing to that end is a complete disaster. Old ass Ian Paice isn't going to gain her a broader appeal to other 12 year olds, but here's why Dave Grohl was able to help Nandi bridge that gap. Dave Grohl is a fun guy. That's how he presents himself. He has tons of energy and that comes through in his style of rock. He also has young kids of his own and is STILL A RELEVANT MUSICIAN today to all age groups in 2021!!! Ian Paice is a legendary drummer who most 12 year olds couldn't point to in a line up of 3 people. His time of relevance is OVER! And Yoyoka spends most of her musical efforts making cover music with and for grandpa. And grandpa doesn't give her the same level of attention when she plays music that she likes as opposed to music that he likes and grandpa certainly isn't going to go online and share Yoyoka's music with all of his 12 year old friends, because then grandpa will be going to jail. Do you see the dilemma she's in? Look at the view count on Yoyoka's, Dua Lipa, Silk Sonic, Maroon 5 and Paramore covers. Now look at the view count on ANY of her Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple covers. That's what I'm talking about. What people forget is that music doesn't require you to know English, because music is a universal language unto itself. It's very nature helps it cross language barriers and national boundaries. So it isn't her lack of English that's holding her back. She's Cartoon Network, as an example, was instrumental (no pun intended) in bringing Anime to broader American audiences throughout the early 90's and 2000's. Yoyoka comes from where anime is produced. Cartoon Network STILL shows a variety of anime on their channel to this day and Yoyoka herself is a fan of anime. And young kids love ALL KINDS of cartoons including anime. All the same pieces were right there. Nandi figured out how to put them together, Yoyoka didn't. Even from a Japanese only perspective Yoyoka just isn't that proactively forward thinking when it comes to marketing herself to a broad audience or even in Japan. And neither are her mom and dad. They're relying on talent alone to progress Yoyoka in an era where talent alone no longer matters. What Nandi made happen for herself could have easily happened with Yoyoka, if she or anyone on her team was forward thinking enough to make the kinds of moves that would help her gain a broader audience of young people. I.E. thinking of what young people really like and then putting Yoyoka in the middle of that. But Yoyoka hasn't done anything for kid's since she helped write the music on that Japanese kid's show all those years ago. So, whether Yoyoka is a prodigy or not is irrelevant if she can't figure out how to sell herself to a mass market with kids at the forefront, while she still is one. And time is running out. Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilerra, Britney Spears and Justin Bieber ALL started out when they were Yoyoka's age gaining fans that were the same age as they were. And as they grew older, their fans grew with them and that's why those guys have mass worldwide appeal, household name recognition and careers to this day. Nandi has major drum endorsements just like Yoyoka, but because of her personality appeal, friendship with people like, "The Arctic Monkeys", "The Foo Fighters" and "Lenny Kravitz", collaborations with superstars like Jack Black, friendships with Tom Morello and his son and the savvy to hook up with Cartoon Network and provide music for "The Teen Titans" as well as writing positive kid based music that addresses world issues.... she's going to sell A LOT MORE DRUMS to her own age demographic than Yoyoka. Yoyoka, her parents and her reps at Pearl, Roland V and Vic Firth had better figure out how to get more kids around the world interested in Yoyoka or she really will end up another great drummer relegated to the Asian market. Unless Yoyoka turns into a virtuoso over night, like this young man: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iJ6FepVjps-sqXU.html And then goes on to be the touring drummer for Jay-Z and Beyonce, like he did or figures out a better marketing strategy, that world wide thing that she wants isn't likely to happen anytime soon. Because as good as she is, right now, she isn't 1/10th as capable a drummer as Tony Royster Jr. was in that video from 24 years ago. And that dude is only 36 right now and his career has been stellar since he was Yoyoka's age. Luckily for her she's friends with him. She should probably start taking advantage of relationships like that.

As you alluded to Show-Ya are the Godmothers of Japanese rock formed in 81 and stabilised in 82. First record in 85 and currently playing as the original lineup after a change of singer in the 90s and a short hiatus. Guitarist Miki “sun-go” Igarashi is held as possibly the first female shredder in Japan. The band is also a big supporter of female musicians in Japan running the Naon no Yaon festival for female bands since 87.

It was probably a couple of days or week to mix all the video and audio before it was released. For her Family subscribers, there was a video posted of the making of this video. She is playing live (her normal one-take) but it looks like some of the gear is electronic (the cymbals) probably due to noise restrictions (don't want to wake up the nappers). We expect a detailed review of that live show or we'll be sending drones to your apartment.
