Donna has no idea what to do with the Coastal Motors memo she signed and struggles to find a way to protect herself and Harvey from the potential fallout of this huge oversight.
Season 2, Episode 6 "Break Point": Hoping to get in front of Travis Tanner's fraud lawsuit, Daniel brings in razor-sharp outside attorney Allison Holt to take on the case. Of course, Harvey being Harvey, he tries to get the suit dropped on his own, only realizing too late that his maneuvering has left the firm in a weaker position. Having discovered the memo, Donna agonizes over how best to protect both herself and Harvey. But Mike soon infers what is going on and though he feels for Donna, he makes it clear that if she doesn't tell Harvey, he will.

I hated Donna so much here . She shredded the document after Mike explicitly told her not to and then in stead of owning her blunder , acted all high and mighty like she did everyone a favour

That's what would happen in real life, though. It's human nature - we lash out when we panic, and we panic when we feel like the walls are closing in on us. Even Donna, perfect as she usually is, isn't immune to that.

Many here do not truly understand the value of an assistant like Donna. Yes, she made a mistake. Yes it was a crime. But she believed she was protecting the 1 person who she would NEVER turn her back on. Loyalty is priceless. So FORGIVENESS is what Harvey owed her. And protecting her in return was what I would have done in his shoes. Right or wrong, everyone makes mistakes. Everyone deserves 2nd chances. I would have settled and then offered to resign and take Donna with me. They started together. They should end together. But that is me.

I remember liking the fact that they did the right thing in firing her but the way she was brought back didn't really make any sense other than Harvey was "getting Donna back" even though she was fired for cause.

Jessica knew that Harvey would bring her back because he knew what Donna meant to him. The way Jessica looked when Harvey said he was bringing Donna back and the way Jessica and Donna interacted when Donna went back to work left me with the impression that Donna was sacrificed to appease Hardman and in other circumstances she wouldn't have fired her.

@@mia989-ms5vo agreed but it would have been better if they had found out that someone planted the document and destroyed it blaming Donna then it makes it more plausible for them to hire her back. Any other company she wouldn’t have gotten a second chance

@@Rheinmeister09 It's more about the relationship between Harvey and Donna because she's not just a secretary to him. She is partner ,friend, confidant, a special person and she deserved a second chance because loyalty is a two-way street.

The reason he was able to bring her back in b/c Hartman was behind the whole thing. He forged Donna's signature, buried the document and let Donna take the fall for it.

literally the only thing they had to do was "oh wait we HAVE this file, so it couldn't have been buried. look it's right here we aren't burying anything" and it would've worked

Well this is a misogynistic view. Donna gave up her dreams to become an actress to help advance Harvey’s career, because he asked her to work for him after they left the DA’s office. Donna helped build Harvey’s career (they were a partner). He couldn’t have been anything without her (and they even mentioned that in the show, on multiple occasions).

I don't know if she gave up her dream but I do know that Donna's skillset compliments Harvey's. Neither can fulfill the tasks the other can. Support staff are critical. Unfortunately they remain undervalued.
