I think before even finishing the video it's going to end up uneven and scratchy because you didnt use higher grit sand paper. 320 and 400 grit isn't smooth enough to transition straight to a buffing wheel usually.

Great video, this is pretty much exactly what I experienced polishing my mode 80. The oven cleaner is no joke, especially if you are using an aerosol can! Very fun project

well, for your first attempt you did ok. polishing needs time and do not skip any steps. all you need to do is spend more on the lower grit steps.

I dont know much about other polishing compounds like the one you used but have you tried mother's alu and mag polish? I've tried it in combination with some WD-40 and it does wonders

I actually had the idea to do this a couple weeks ago with the Saka68 I ordered, because I didn't like the ano color of the plate/badge I chose. The method I was looking into uses Drano instead of oven cleaner to remove the ano, as well as this product you can buy at the hardware store that shines aluminum without you having to buy a buffer or do a tone of sanding. Curious to see if the results are comparable to yours when I try it.
