Today I outline the differences between an American and German household I've noticed since living here. What surprised you the most? Comment below!

@1:28 Off course, there are "Klosetts" or "Donnerbalken". 😘 Walk-in closets on the other hand aren't considered a necessity.

Haha, you just got caught by a "false friend", meaning something completely different. A "Klosett" or "Donnerbalken" as you named it, is some kind of an old fashion toilet. A closet Lauren was talking about is either a section of the room covered with doors or even a completely room (Ankleidezimmer) on its own where you store your clothings in. Those are uncommon in Germany - we use a "Kleiderschrank" which is more or less a "wooden box" to put our clothes into. But when it comes to translating we name it either wardrobe or closet as well...

I am glad you enjoy Germany. „First of all“ Hermany is not Europe. Spain for instance has built in closets. 😊 Christmas is so special that the 25th and 26th are national holidays. Usually days to meet with family and have a special dinner.

We have underfloor heating and are barefoot all year round

Very nice! My host family was probably just dirty then 😂 If I went barefoot, my feet turned brown

1:19 “they all do wardrobes” *stares at the closet in my German bedroom*
@LaurenMarie323009 ай бұрын
wait, really?? Someone told once that closets are counted at rooms in German tax code so that’s why many people don’t bother building them in. But cool!! Sounds like you’ve got special digs!!
@TurtleStormer9 ай бұрын
@@LaurenMarie32300 I think that is true! But with how many rooms are in my house I don’t think they care too much

It also has the shelves baked into the wall so you can’t step into it

With respect, what you claim is completely wrong. We distribute presents on Christmas Eve, but it is not a holiday. Boxing Day and Boxing Day are public holidays and are therefore much more important than Christmas Eve. Your statement is probably due to the American consumer perspective. Have, have, have.

USA is a great country but too many guns and gangs in the streets.
