One small note about the vegetarian thing: it's very much a city/student trend. More rural places still cherish the "traditional" swedish diet which is very meat- and dairy heavy.

Fair point! But I'd argue that that is true in most countries, and that it's easier in big cities in Sweden to be vegan/vegetarian than in big cities in other countries ~

Fun fact: there are six times more ex-vegans than current vegans. So yes, it's a trend among (very)young people and as such a short lived one.

Another great video! Usually when you get a list of things people like about a country, it's very generic and has a more broad appeal. This felt very personal and unique, but also showed off a lot of things to like you wouldn't think about right away. Also, right there with you on waiting for Japan to open up to live there!

When I moved to Sweden it took me 2 MONTHS to be able to have a Bank ID and Swish and a bank account to receive my salary. (Even though i got hired by a big tech company here) I was mind-blown of how slow it was.

@anders630

@@thelocalvibe Bank ID is about 20y old but if you're not a swedish citizen it takes more time to get registered for BankID which you get through a swedish bank. So there are controls for identity, registering at a new bank, probably at skatteverket (swedish tax office) as well. I expect it to be faster than 2 months but dont underestimate time of manual beauracracy, once you have the digital ID of BankID life is a lot more smooth. Salary can however be paid by other means, bank ID is not needed for that.

i spent last winter in Sweden up north in Boden, really loved it, the nature and so much snow, I loved watching all the tractors clear the snow, fika is such a good thing to have, its like Tea in UK but more structured, and seeing that princess cake omg made my mouth water!! and yes the flats(apartments) are always warm, its strange not being able to control your own heat, but in the winter there it just needs one temperature dam well HOT!

I really enjoyed listening to what you like about Sweden. Someone else has mentioned how other lists are generic and have more "broad appeal" and I'd agree with them. I've seen so many people romanticize the country, and while I'm sure I'd do the same if I were to move there (hell, even when I visit I'm sure), being able to hear a different side, even if they are small things, is a nice change. It allowed me to hear more about what's common there, things I had yet to even hear from anyone who has made lists or a multitude of videos of the country. Anyways, I'm excited all the same to visit Sweden as soon as I can.

I've been vegetarian since I was 15, I'm 23 now. In the beginning, here in Portugal, where I live, it was difficult to find really good products for vegetarians. About 5 years ago a greater variety of products started to appear, but it can still improve. Here where I live meat is still a very predominant culture and is found in many dishes. But Sweden is another level in vegetarian food. :D

Nice video thank you. It sounds like Sweden compensates for the terrible weather. There's something to be said for that. I live in Florida. Probably some of the most beautiful weather in the world as long as there's no hurricane. I have a slightly larger than average apartment. But there is no sound separation. And it's expensive. And there's no safety net for us regarding either healthcare or housing. I'm not sure I would be welcome in Sweden. Even if I were, I might be so Americanized that I couldn't fit in. But your story gave me a moment to imagine what it might be like.

One small note about Sweden’s low winter temperatures: Where I live (Skåne) it rarely gets lower than -3 during winter and rarely any snow. Would be cool to see polar bears but I don’t think they would like it down here :) I come from the Balkans which is 3-4 hours by car close to Greece and it gets -20 during winter! So no, not the entire of Sweden is fricking cold. Sweden is a big country by size :)

7:25 - at least it's properly labeled; in some stores, I have to harrass the store clerk to tell me the price of an item I may or may not buy - but that's on them for not having properly labeled the prices of their products, so it's their nerves (it's also inconvenient for me since I need to bring said item(s) to the check-out to go through this demistification process) - however, I fear that I may relish too much in this price interrogation and become a sadist.
