What is a First Level Subdivision?
A First Level Subdivision is the first level of administration under the national government. Some examples of this would be the States of the USA (e.g. California or Texas), the Countries of the United Kingdom (e.g. Scotland or England), or the Provinces of South Africa (e.g. Gauteng or KwaZulu-Natal)
There is a difference between an Administrative Subdivision and a non-Administrative Subdivision. I am learning the Administrative Subdivisions. Iceland for example has regions, but these are only used for postal codes and census reporting purposes, not for administration. Therefore we go one level further down in subdivisions to municipalities, which are used for administrative purposes.

I study Geography and love it, but i've never met anyone who can name 20 African Countries, let alone ALL SUBDIVISIONS in whole Africa, this is PURE masterclass, this needs more recognition, well done

I can name every country in the world... but I can only name Australia, Canada, and the United States of America's first level administrative divisions... I agree, this was so impressive it's almost scary, lmao!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you learn this? This is absolutely insane. I've memorised basically all countries and about half of their capitals, but the sheer idea of subdivisions is just crazy. Do you just sit down and look at a a map and memorise them? Also crazy impressive how you also know their geographic positions on the map.

how do you first know of all these places? I get memorization, but where do you read about these places first. Are there certain sites that you use that easily list off these places on a map. If you do use a site like this, can you please comment below.

i honestly think he uses wikipedia for the subdivisions list, because this is how i do that, but i can be wrong
