Disclaimer : We receive a ton of emails and messages from people telling us we filmed them at the ramp this past weekend and they want to know when the video will air. This is not a question we can typically answer. We film from three or more ramps every week and have a massive back log of content and sometime it could be weeks or months after an event occurs before we air the video. We put stuff out as fast as we can but we only air three videos a week and in a typical weekend get 6-10 episodes worth of content meaning we get content faster then we can air it. Thanks for watching and just be sure to keep watching looking for your content it will air but probably not immediately after it happens!

I've noticed over the time that I have watched this channel, and a few others, that the lack of or poorly set up trailer guide poles leads to a lot of extra and unnecessary work and aggravation for these captains trying to pull their boats. The center console to the right of the "power boat" had a nice set of guide poles, but they were way too loose. When your boat is properly centered on the trailer and on dry land, simply set the poles up so they are in contact with your rub rails with a little bit of tension. With this set up you will never have to repeatedly back in and out at the ramp to have your boat properly set for your trailer home. And it is a huge help on those windy days or if you are fighting a current. Just my two cents.

When I purchased my new boat and trailer, the first thing I did was set the trailer up to where I can load and unload the boat by myself without problems. It saves a lot of grief.

Never used any guide poles, been unloading and loading my 22 ftr. since 07, by myself, never used the motor to load. I just hook up the winch strap, and pull it up. Pretty simple, never had a problem.

Can't say this enough if you are planning to buy a boat or already own a boat 4×4 is almost a must have idc what set up you have or tires you run or how much power you have some times when the tide is low and the ramp is slick at the bottom haveing that extra little pull in the front on clean dry payment can make the world of difference

I've never trailered a boat but I have used utility trailers so I understand the importance of getting more than 50% of the load weight ahead of the trailer axel center line. Evert time you mention that someone doesn't have their boat loaded properly I wonder how many of them get an uppercut when the unhitch.

I use the ramp at the Belaire Boat ramp in Pinellas county, and on moon tides the water is way far down the ramp and it is green slimy and slippery. I keep 20 lb bags of kitty litter, yes kitty litter, and chunks of carpet in 4 ft strips for getting out of slippery situations. It works like a charm. Just be sure to pick up the carpet, no litter please, and the kitty litter is bio-degradable. Try it next time you head out to the ramp.

I remember before they redid those ramps they were even worse with a lip the longer trailers would get hooked over, youd have to unload the boat and drive up and start over again, once we learned the trick of using the boat to help it saved us a few times lol I probably shouldve rerigged my trailer though to set the boat lower. I think thats the cause of a lot of having to back too far down to launch and retrieve.

Just a tractor would do it, especially with chains, as the tractor would be on dry level ground. I've posted before, I'd have three prices: [1] low, pay up front before you try, [2] medium, pay when you've tried and failed, [3] high, when you're stuck and at risk of losing your vehicle.

Legit question. Why the hell would you groove the ramp vertical instead of horizontal? I can see the idea of getting the water to run back but their is literally no traction doing it that way.
@3-2-1-.

I have seen many ramps with lines that are at 45%, so the water drains from the center to each side. Vertical doesn't make much sense to me, either.

That dually should've pulled that little power boat right out. Looking at the ramp from a KZfaq view, it seems that the ramp is built for drainage. All the ridges appear to be running up and down the ramp. That's gotta reduce traction. The tracks on the ramps here in Pensacola are all horizontally oriented. Seems like you get better traction. I cant see that dually noy having power to pull that boat out and slipping 4 tires is crazy.

07:03 Dragged vs. drug: Drug is a dialectal variant that appears in many areas of the U.S. Though drug is common in these areas and cannot be considered wrong, it might be seen as out of place in more formal writing, where the traditional dragged is always the safer choice.

I never understand why nobody clears all that seaweed off the ramp. That stuff if super-slick and it's always going to be tough to get any tractor with all that on the ramp. ..... If I was launching my boat there I would take a garden rake with me, to clear the weed from where my truck was backed down.

This might be a dumb question, but why doesn't the city or whoever manages these ramps, do something about these ramps. Everyone has a hard time pulling their boats out without spinning their tires. They could resurface these ramps. they could also regrade them, so they aren't as steep. Our ramps are no way as busy and are way better kept up. They are cleaned all the time. You will never see a crap load of seaweed on the ramps.

Why doesn't the local govt. authority keep the band of flotsam/crap/trash that floats in at high tide cleaned off the ramp? A lot of the trouble with pulling up the ramp seems to be the drive wheels on that crud that settles on the ramp. Might speed things up and that would benefit everyone using the ramp.

I'm in the Tampa area. Our boat ramps don't have anyone around managing them like this Miami one appears to have. Honestly, I feel like the ramps here are an afterthought and not very well maintained. I do understand to some degree, sometimes the ramps are nice, and the next day they can be full of seaweed. To have someone check that every day could be costly, especially when you don't know if it would need cleaning or not. Plus during the summer these ramps get crowded, early morning fishing guys heading out, then the family's start filling up the ramp. To find the time to clean it might be hard in the summer months. From what I see on this channel is people are towing with a vehicle not designed to pull boats they are towing. I'm no different, at one time I had a diesel dodge ram to tow my boat, truck had plenty of power but with 2 wheel drive and crap tires I got stuck every now and then. Never again, I got a 4X4 for the next truck. I've never been stuck since. I'm guessing these people either never had the experience or are waiting for a marina. I've been waiting on a marina since March for my boat in Tampa. I was told I might get in by new years, but that was accelerated since they rose their prices and people are now leaving or sticking to boat ramps. If it wasn't for that I'd be waiting longer. I'm sure Miami is worse.

I think its the cobblestone ramps. It looks like the bumpiness reduces the amount of tire contact. Plain concrete would be better maybe?
@matty6212
@matty6212 Жыл бұрын
@@bradwaah Most of the ones in Tampa are not cobblestone. I still see people spinning. I will admit, some ramps have a way steeper slope then others. Also tide plays into this. On those really steep ramps some days you are fine, others (super low tide) you might be spinning.
