1st thing to do with first watercraft and trailer. Find a large parking lot and practice backing up. Practice, practice, practice. Learn to use the mirrors or open the back hatch or tailgate so you can see what you're doing.

It is sooo painful to watch these people backing down the ramp.

MBR is awesome..back in college I worked at a boat rental right next to a boat ramp...we would watch people doing these amazing boat ramp feats all day ..and with the same kinda commentary...you guys are awesome Btw I still screw up at th boat ramp on occasion ..it’s just life haha 🤣

About 6 minutes in when the dude in the Jeep is backing the jet ski trailer down the ramp the guys in the boat on the dock are rinsing the inside of the boat out with salt water!

For people who cannot back up your trailers. Hook it up one day go to an empty parking lot and take a couple of hours backing the trailer around in the parking lot. Concentrate on where you want it to go and start putting it there. Use the hand positioning of both hands at the bottom of the steering wheel and if you want the trailer to go to your right use the right hand at the turn it towards the right if you want it to go left use the left hand and turn towards the left. Keep in mind use the hands at the Bottom of the Steering Wheel not the top. A short trailer is more sensitive to your movements than a longer trailer. Do it slow and focus.

I still think the sandbar should be called SURPRISE!, because, well, surprise.

"Sunken Sandy" for the sand bar and.....It just never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that just don't know the basics of backing a trailer or how to put their boat or jet ski back on a trailer. For backing a trailer put your hand on the bottom of your steering wheel and when you want the trailer to go left then make your hand go left and the same for right. STOP backing your trailer all the way under the water. Your bunks should be between 1/2 and 1/3 out of the water when you stop and just drive the boat onto the trailer. If you have 4 wheel drive, use it. When you are lined up straight with the ramp then put your vehicle in 4 wheel drive. That way when your back wheels hit the waters edge and all that green slime growing just under the waters edge makes the ramp like ice you won't launch your vehicle. ps: As soon as you are out of the water take it back out of 4 wheel drive because 4 wheel drive doesn't turn worth a crap on blacktop.

I guess no one gets that the shorter your trailer the faster it responds to steering corrections if you turn hard it jack knifes faster keep it straight and make small adjustments also remember that when backing steer the opposite direction you want the trailer to go left=right right= left.

Speed dump for the sand bar

When I drove a big rig many moons ago one trick we'd use to cure over steer-itis was to start with your front wheels and trailer straight at your starting point(top of the ramp). Grip the "BOTTOM" of the steering wheel with one hand where your knuckles are pointing up and palm facing down. you're going to use your palm as a pointer. Whatever side you point your palm is where the rear of the trailer will go. For example; With a good grip on the steering wheel, move your palm to the left and the rear of the trailer will go left and so on. Slowly back down the ramp. Make small and frequent corrections as you go. It will become second nature in no time.
