One day, jumps will just click for you. My wife and my brother kept telling me that I keep crouching on jumps, and I was like, "I'm crouching?" Turns out it was my attempts at scooping up the rear that caused it, so I just stopped trying to scoop up the rear at all and it suddenly clicked. After a little bit of practice and unlearning that bad habit, this is what I've come up with that has helped a few friends learn to jump: *At the appropriate trail speed, crouch down at the bottom of the lip and then push away from your bike and extend your arms and legs as you go up the lip until you look like a standing meerkat. DO NOT scoop up the rear or pull your bike up towards you. Only relax your arms and legs once you've achieved liftoff, NOT a moment earlier or you won't get enough air to clear the jump. This is what they mean when they say "Relax once you're in the air." or, "Be loose, don't stiffen up." Your bike will arch naturally without going dead sailor. After that it's just a matter of figuring out the timing of the whole thing with a bunch of repetition and practice.* A couple years ago, I thought I would NEVER figure out how to jump. I was convinced that I just didn't have it in me to be able to do it. I'm glad I kept trying though. I'm pretty comfortable on most jumps now. I'm not an expert by any means, but I know it's just a matter of practice and acclimating to different sized jumps and different shaped lips. I wouldn't ask a pro how to jump. They're rarely ever good teachers. They've been doing it so long that they have no clue how to explain it beyond, "You just jump, bro. It's easy." I'm rootin' for you Brian. I hope you read this and give it a real try. I look forward to the day that I'll see you clearing a medium sized jump comfortably. Best of luck friend.

And when you get sick of making the ride back up to Jesse's the All American Jump line is right there waiting. Thanks for posting the video. Good to see the weather and trails looking so amazing. For jumping think about jumping on a trampoline. Transfer those body mechanics to jumps. Think of the transition of the jump like it's the mat and springs of the trampoline. You have to put energy into the mat and springs to get into the air. Same thing with a jump.

That’s a good way to put it, he never pushes or pulls up when jumping, not much rider input. When you watch most riders that huck they seem to lift up with timing?
@TyBaumMTB
@TyBaumMTB Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it's very similar to a trampoline. Honestly, people can talk technique through the roof but keep it simple and build up the size and style of jumps. The people who are really good at jumps learn by hitting some ghetto dirt jumps as kids until we figured it out, hundreds of reps.

You are the first I’ve heard not just raving about the new transmission. It’s actually a bit refreshing because up until now it’s been all glowing reviews by every channel that has one. The problem is, they are all sponsored and/or SRAM dealers that are doing the huge media push saying it’s the “next best thing.” One thing is for certain, SRAM’s marketing department is absolutely killing it on the launch of their new product. It will be nice to see more real, everyday people buying and using it to give their perspectives over a longer period of time.
@EMBIKES

that all sounds good until the part about real everyday people owning them. What everyday person is dropping $1500-2k on a drivetrain??
@MikeOn2Wheels
@MikeOn2Wheels Жыл бұрын
@@EMBIKES well not me, unless they start hitting the used market for cheap haha. However, lots of people must be buying all these $10k super bikes or else they wouldn’t keep making them more and more expensive. So I suppose those people will start using them in the real world and start giving their feedback.

Nor Cal and the Bay have a bunch of great parks to skill up at. What's better about jump lines instead of trails is the you can get 10 more runs in on a jump line then a trail. 1. Stafford Lake Park in Novato 2. Dirt World in Richmond 3. Elk Grove Bike Park 4. Auburn Bike Park 5. Truckee Bike Park 6. Incline Village Bike Park (my favorite) 7. Bijou Bike park in South Lake Tahoe Best jump trails (imo) Hoot and Scott's Flat in Nevada City off hwy 20. They just did the Dirt Days Festival there on May 6th, 2023

And you still have trails right outside your door or not very far in Bella Vista! They are building a new WMT campus to house all their people, it's even going to have a Marriott hotel on campus. Older somewhat rundown home, especially those close to the new WMT campus that are between 1k-1.5k square feet are selling for between $500k-$1million dollars depending on how big the lot is. Plus many of those lots have the 3-story residential code. They are razing the old and building million+ dollar homes and they have no problem selling them. The amount of progress in Bentonville has been unbelievable over the last 15 years. They want it to be a ski town, but for bikes!

Bummer to hear about the Transmission issues especially at that price. You mentioned not having access to a bike stand on the road, have you ever considered building a hitch mounted bike stand setup for your van? Shouldn't be difficult to do at all and a pre-made solution may already exist and will make things a lot more convenient on the road while being easy to break down and store.

Maybe it’s your suspension setup either got bumped over time or isn’t set up right that is causing your jumping to be off, I’ve had that happen before and it makes a difference. Might be something you mess around with. There is a guy that rides my local downhill trails with way too fast of rebound that has no idea how close he is to crashing every time he jumps and he hits the big jumps that way, I just don’t know how to tell him he has been jumping wrong this whole time!
