Watching this video brings back learning to ride 30 years ago on these very trails. Of course, back then we were on 26" fully rigid rim brake bikes with 72+ degrees of head angle and no dropper post. These trails get interesting real quick on a bike like that. These very trails were on a regular rotation while living in Eugene. As for the switchbacks, you have to remember that most of these trails predate mountain biking and were built as hiking trails.

I really got a better perspective on my riding abilities from the comments that you make as you are riding. Like the first person that commented (Ben), I learned to mtb in the Oakridge area in 2001. My reaction to your comments about the corners was the same as Ben's. All of the original trails were hiking trails. The tight switchbacks were just part of a good challenging trail. The early guys that rode these trails in wet conditions with just rim brakes were masters at the skills. The first time I rode in wet conditions with rim brakes was my last time. Fortunately, disc brakes were readily available. I hooked up with the local mtb group, DOD, within a few months after I bought a bike. Those lunatics rode all through the winter including every Wednesday night. I can honestly say that I rode the majority of the Oakridge trails at night before I every saw them in the daylight. Any day or night riding the back country trails back then could end up being a true life adventure.
