Just wanted to share to everyone that this mindset shift is the key. I had every anxiety symptom in the book in the past year, and at times some were 24/7. I am now at a point where I feel very little symptoms- calm and peace is actually attainable again. And it feels much sweeter once you go through this. The ONLY thing that has worked to get me to this point, was to stop fighting it, and change my relationship with it. Everything Dan preaches here. Keep responding to it in the right way, and you’ll get there in time. The subconscious takes a little time to get the message, but it will learn that you are safe. Also, once my symptoms almost completely went away, I got a new symptom of dizziness(more of an off balance feeling), typical symptom imperative- but I responded to it in the same way as the anxiety without being impressed by it, and it went away in a week and a half. This stuff works, folks. Thanks so much Dan for your videos- they have helped me a bunch in the last year when I was having doubts and my fear was getting the better of me

Wonderful story John. Love your resolve to remain calm in the face of a new symptom. Call it out for what it is. Give it little to no concern. Gone in a week and a half. Love it.

The sensations we get when we are anxious are the same as when we are excited. The difference is the thoughts we have around these emotions. Anxiety gives us negative thoughts, excitement gives us positive thoughts.

Anxiety was really horrible for me, when I wasn’t aware of it that the symptoms came from my current state of mind: anxiety - being anxious about something. Once I realized it, that I was dealing with anxiety and the symptoms are only the „storefront“, I got much better. I still have anxiety with its various symptoms from time to time (right now actually - new job coming up), but I try to accept it and ride on the wave (I know it’s hard sometimes). However, use the opportunity to practice what we know (TMS), when symptoms are high. Nice song btw: Santana - Practice what you preach 😎

I'm not anxious about anxiety! I'm anxious about falling again and getting broken again and ending in hospital, and as I live alone and would have to manage on my own this is major. It doesn't matter that I probably won't fall again, my body has kept the score. I have PTSD and I freeze. I can't get across a road. I'm not anxious about it - my legs won't move. I can't go forward or back. I've done all the stuff, talked to my brain etc etc but my legs won't do it.

Sat up in "my" park looking at the trees too. I ❤️ spring. Crap morning when builders turned up outside my bedroom window 7.15am, grr. Had a debate with the manager. Got myself up to church for some space, calm and peace. Telling myself life too short to suffer anxiety etc over building works and other stuff out if my remit. A few weeks and it'll be done. Made some difficult phone calls, why is it that common sense seems to have vanished from most situations 😂. Definitely gonna take a new approach to the anxiety. Stay with it, knowing I'm safe. Thanks for today's video, appreciate. Anxiety is like premium "fear" fuel.

What a wonderful topic! Anxiety as a wave. Let it pass through and over. Much like our thoughts as an open house. Come on in! Have a look around. Let me know if you have any questions. The doors are open. Come and go as you please. I get tickled at myself when I have thoughts that are anxious or angry or fearful. It seems to help me to ask myself why I might be feeling this way or that. As if I am an outsider looking in… hmmmm, why am I so angry with her? Then, answer honestly. She is controlling. She makes me feel small. Ohhhhh, okay. She makes you feel small. Am I less than? No, you are fine and you cannot control her behavior. You can only do the next right thing. Changing my internal dialogue to a “curious interview” has helped so much with anxious thinking. Have a great day everyone!

Dan, I had persistent one-sided neck pain for 8 months and attempted various treatments, starting with physical therapy and acupuncture and exploring different topicals and massages. Unfortunately, none of them seemed to provide relief. Then, one fortunate day, I stumbled upon your videos and began to watch and comprehend the underlying logic. Remarkably, my neck pain has significantly diminished, and I no longer fret about it. While it occasionally tenses up due to my computer work, the improvement is substantial, ranging from 80-90%. Every time I listen to your speech, I experience a sense of tranquility and an immediate reduction in anxiety. While I still have some other health issues, your guidance has helped me eliminate one of them! Much respect and heartfelt appreciation from Estonia!!

I have white coat syndrome, I-go to the doctor and my BP is was up there , 170/100, as soon as I see the cuff and feel the cuff squeezing around my arm, I feel a huge surge in adrenaline. They want me to go on meds, but I’m not going down that path….. I get home and my first reading is usually high now too, but over time as I feel myself calm down so does my BP. I read a book by Dr Russell Kennedy recently, (Anxiety RX)he has a similar perspective to Dan’s, get out of your head and into your body This video today was just what I needed to hear, I took my BP earlier, I could feel my anxiety build putting in the cuff…155/94 ATHOME!!! After telling myself I was safe and focusing on breathing into my belly, it came down to 136/82 in a few minutes Crazy stuff this TMS/PDP

I have come to accept that I have TMS and agree with all you have said both on this video. My anxiety is mostly from the issue of the pain meds I was pit on 5 years ago. They have me dependent on them and I have cut back and I do go through some mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms. The problem is that over the last few months it has been harder to get my script filled. I have a huge fear of going into withdrawal and feel it might take me a year to slowly taper down to zero. But every month when it is time to fill my script I hear they are out of stock or the meds are back ordered. It's crazy because if it was just the pain I was worried about I think I could make more progress.

Hi Dan, thank you so much for your daily videos, that I watch every single day for 7 months now. I appreciate your tireless and passionate work to help people who struggle with TMS/PDP. I suffer from ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia and have symptoms 24/7. I can stay pretty calm towards all the weird sensations such as tingling, twitching and also the pain, but it seems to be almost impossible, not to fear the debilitating fatique, because it keeps me stuck in bed for a year now, unable to live my my life or distract myself. I am also sensitive to screens and lose my ability to communicate with people, because every conversation triggers strong bodily symptoms. That makes me feel really anxious and desperate. Any advise how I can dig myself out of this dark hole?
@PainFreeYou

Decide that you are not in danger. Stay away from the CFS and Fibro communities online. Disconnect yourself from those medical labels. Those labels carry around a ton of fear. You have TMS/PDP. It's all driven by fear. Your sole task is to KNOW you are well and dial down the fear. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLmdh8hp37a8mGQ.html

Good morning Dan and PFY community ❤ I had free-floating anxiety for over two years at one point in my life. It would hit out of nowhere and yes, it’s really uncomfortable. The only technique that I found to be helpful was to lean into it and breathe through it. The word anxiety actually comes from German, and it means a closing off of the channel. Our natural inclination is to breathe shallowly so we don’t feel the anxiety but what we have to do is actually the opposite. It does come in waves when I first got my TMS diagnosis from a Doctor Who studied with Sarno I had heart palpitations for over a month and a lot of anxiety. It takes a lot of courage to walk this path. We are all brave warriors 💫🦸‍♀️

Another version of "accept and allow", especially during a panic attack, is to deliberately try to make and hope for your symptoms to become worse. It seems to be the most powerful version of accept and allow and really can make the anxiety burn out quickly. The problem is that you can't use the technique to get rid of the anxiety. You need to truly be fed enough to say 'screw it, give me your worst' and then paradoxically it seems to just wither away. Michael Norman is the person I heard about the technique from. I imagine you could use it for any symptoms though. I know it works for depression as well.

Many people find that just quitting coffee and all other forms of caffeine significantly reduces their chronic anxiety and in some cases even gets rid of it completely. Caffeine is in a lot of things, not just coffee. Mountain Dew for example has caffeine, so does black and green tea, so do some painkillers like Excedrin, so does chocolate.

Brilliant video, thanks so much for all you do Dan! I am healing from ME/CFS. The NS disregulation has caused a lot of anxiety, which I absolutely know is rooted in my brain perceiving my situation / life / movement / symptoms as unsafe. My challenge is that the anxiety results in debilitating post exertional malaise if I don’t nip it in the bud relatively quickly, which has definitely created anxiety about anxiety. Do you have any wise words here? If I just leave it there in the background whilst practicing indifference towards it, I end up with PEM. Feels like a bit of a chicken and egg situation! 🙏

Dan, I have two questions: - do you think it's even possible to employ the 'dare' response -- a version of the 'bring it on' attitude -- when the pain is really, really bad (CPPS in my case)? Is there a Buddhist in every mortal, waiting to be discovered? :) - do you think doing one's best to remain reasonably calm and indifferent to the symptoms is a more feasible strategy than this somewhat counterintuitive mental gymnastics of 'welcoming', 'embracing', 'curiously observing and describing' the pain?

I’m losing an 8 year relationship (we have a 2 year old daughter together) because he’s stressed and “sick of me not trying to get better” -meaning doctors, pills, and the conventional route. Every day he tells me “your book isn’t going to cure you” in reference to a Sarno book I have. I’ve given up trying to explain the mind body connection to him. Quite frankly he just doesn’t care and I think he’s wanted out for a long time and is using my sickness as a convenient excuse. Either way it sucks and it’s making my healing journey even harder. I know you’ve went through breakups and divorce during your journey. Any tips?

His opinion doesn't matter. This is an inside job. Decide you can get well anyway. these two videos touch on relationships: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNB0g9GWzt3Fp40.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bNh3g7Ohz5jYep8.html

Let anxiety “wash over you like a wave at the beach.” It’s a great self soothing thought and visualization, that’s the gem I’m taking from todays video! Tractor boy 😂
