Ben, I’ve been where you were. I was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. My wife was very upset and I promised her to lose weight. I started with eating better and jumping on an exercise bike for 20 per day. I’ve gone from 315lbs down to 210lbs and I’ve been steady at 210 for the last 2 years. The key for me was no packaged foods. I use nothing but fresh meats, vegetables and spices. I only drink water and 1 coffee in the morning. Good lunch in your journey my friend. ~ Don

You should build a sculpture first with the pieces of coloured skewers, popcicle sticks and balls then cast it in clear resin and shape it into something neat.

I have a small sphere mould, I found i could seal it by really pushing the middle together, I also have used hot glue around the join, and tries washing tape. They were all successful. Just a few ways to try.x

Walks are a great place to start, I don't know how Jake can walk, talk and play Pokémon at the same time not once walking into a lamppost 😂 he's a lovely young man helping Dad, I loved the walk. Sphere looks so cool. I've seen folks use hot glue around the mould seal, if not that I try electrical tape, I buy the cheap stuff and it has a lot of uses. The polish is amazing, really impressed the result by hand. Thank you really enjoyed that, I think Jake should start a channel, who knows where it will lead, I don't do Pokémon but that doesn't matter, I'd subscribe, view and hit the like button to help him. 🐾🐾🐾🐾💖

Let Jake be your personal trainer. What helped me was an eating diary for 4 weeks. Easy cause you only write down teaspoon, table spoon, cup etc. Helps create awareness about your eating habits. Please take care of yourself. The world needa friendly loving peiple like you. And Jake should have his own channel. My kids had pokemon cards like Jake. They are his age too.

*giant hugs* SO PROUD OF YOU! Taking care of yourself is often the hardest but most rewarding thing to do. Start slow, make lifestyle changes, not fade diets/exercise/etc. Having an accountability partner in Jake will make a world of difference too. You got this! Kookaburras are one of my favorite birds so I'm really jealous :) And yes, Jake should start his own pokemon channel! :)

MN is my home state!! When you saw the kookaburra, that song immediately popped into my head. No kookaburra here but in Minnesota we get a lot of Canada geese which are really big. This time of year they are raising their goslings and they are really adorable babies. They hold up traffic all over! 🤣

Whatever you do with the brightly colored wood items, make sure to stabilize everything like you do for the burl pieces. I’m sure your plans won’t require everything to float on the top of the resin.

wow love the birds! love watching your channel, I also like watching the channel Pouring your heart out ,she is also in Australia and does a mix of stuff but most is resin art but also does paint pours ,makes crystals, hand knitting, she sells resin molds on etsy ,sometimes she adds little videos of her feeding the wild bird on her deck and she breeds dogs so we get to see her new puppies! she be a bizzy girl lol

Absolutely beautiful where you live. My son, also called Jake, is nearly 30 and he goes out for long pokemon hunting walks at the wknds. I'm sending him a parcel tomorrow with a few things I've brought/made for him, his girlfriend and the cat, including 5 packs of pokemon cards.

You might want to check it color sticks before you do anything turning on them to see how deep the color runs through them, because you might put all the those colors together and when you turn them it may only come out in wood grain. 🤔 As for you working on your health and weight loss kudos to you my friend, I too have been working on it for a little over a year now and have been doing pretty good myself, mostly watching my calorie intake and over the last year I have totally been feeling better. The last couple weeks I have sluffed off and gotta kick my self in the butt and get back on track. It's a tough journey but worth it for sure. I know you are going to do great keep up the great work. 👍👍👍 Had get back on the right track and get some better groceries in the house again this week. I started last year on a 1200 calorie a day lost really fast but it was hard to stay on that amount, but now I do my best to keep it under 2000, usually about 1800. Some days are tougher than others but it does work pretty well. But you doing the walking is really going to help for sure. Keep it up my friend I am rooting for you. 👍👍👍 The orb looks pretty cool so far can't wait to see it finished up. I like the spill too, I love blooper and mess up and mistake videos, It's kinda cool to see that not every project comes out as planned. And sometimes they are fixable and sometimes, well not. Would love to see a compilation of stuff like that sometime. But never stop with the good stuff because those are always great 😃👍👍👍. And once again I'm right there with you in the weight battle, and I know we can both beat it and anyone else that wants to band with us, we can all do it. It's worth the battle. 🗡️🗡️🗡️👍👍👍

I would have used tiny clips to keep the mold together 💡 Maybe get two cilinders and fit the sticks upright in between them in rainbow 🌈 order and pour colored resin between them 🤔 or something like that

Loved hanging out with you, today! Walking is important.. I'm disabled and in pain most of the time, but I try to keep moving as best I can. Stick with it, Ben! You've got this.. The sphere came out really neat. Can't wait to see it cleaned up and on a light! As far as the Pokemon thing. I'm not a fan, but if Jake decides to make a channel regarding it, I'll check it out 🙂

I carried an extra 5 stòne around for nearly 30 years after having my youngest daughter. I lost it about 6 years ago for my health. I know how hard it is but take things slowly and take care

that sphere looks so cool! always fun to see the family. i was really into pokemon in the 90s. i played the games, watched the cartoon and had the cards. i even had a holographic charizard, but my binder full of pokemon cards got stolen one day. i just hope that thief sold it right away so he's not making hundreds off of it today 😂

I’d try binder clips on the sphere mold. They are black spring clips used to hold paper together.

That was fun! I enjoyed going on a walk with you and Jake. It was such a pretty day. Great job on the US abbreviations! I remember studying for a test on those for days. That sphere is really cool looking! I really don't like those two part molds though. It's hard to keep them from leaking. Using a glue gun on it works pretty good I think.

OR is Oregon, as a native Oregonian I can confirm. Also I wish you luck on the weight thing. Last year I reinjured my back, doctors couldn't help, physical therapy didn't work. I started getting on a treadmill and I stopped gaining weight, but I really wasn't losing it. I decided to go all in cause I was tired of the pain and changed my diet. I was 310 pounds at the time, now I'm at 260. I still need to lose about 50 pounds but the pain is mostly gone. It is well worth doing, you just really have to be dedicated.

What a sweet guy that Jake is, Dad says help, and he's on it! good guy you got there! it's gorgeous there, my boyfriend lives waaaaaaay over in NSW by Sydney its pretty there once he goes down by the beach, but his immediate surrounding is houses and concrete blehhhhh. My daughter just turned 27 and does the pokemon go game too!

Hey, Ben. I remember back in 2018 I went in for my yearly physical, stepped on the scale, and it said 302 pounds (about 137 kilo). It was a shock to me, and a wakeup call. I changed what I was eating and how much, and over the course of about 18 to 24 months, I lost 100 pounds. I've gained 15-20 of them back recently, but I'll get them off again. I've struggled with weight my whole life, and when I saw that number, something changed in me, and I was able to lose the weight easily. I know you can do it. You're so disciplined with your channel and your Etsy store. This will be nothing for you. You've got this.

If you just need to hold the sphere together, try insulating tape (electrical), it stretches, and is more controllable than rubber bands, stretch it as much or as little as you need, it will retract a bit to hold it together, maybe cross it over the top, it may not stick to the silicone, but will stick to itself I'm not into pokemon, and i'm unlikely to follow jakes channel, but he is obviously passionate, and those are the best channels, i bet he'd build up a following quickly. What about a central (waste) core, glue the flat sticks on edge to the core leaving a gap between each, put in a pot and fill with a clear or tinted epoxy, turn on lathe into a vase or similar, removing the core.

i think Jake should start a pokemon channel and visit you more to help you exercise and while you guys are out walking you should both be catching the pokemon it might make it a little more fun for you and give you something to help motivate you to want to walk so you can get more pokemon. lol and yes i would watch lol

I used to buy my now 36yr old son 5 packs of pokemon cards once a week at Mr Toys Toyworld in Beenleigh when they were first released. We ended up with a full set each to keep and lots to play with and some for his brothers. We have a first edition holo Charizard that's still in the plastic wrapper and never opened or played with... It's been kept safe by me for many years now. I have no idea how to get it valued to sell etc but oneday will do something with it 🥰 Also a suggestion for keeping the mould shut ,.. the one piece stainless steel clothes pegs you can buy at Woolies, Bunnings any shop like like that really cheap but strong.

I have a sphere (or maybe a bigger egg) idea for your coloured sticks but I'm not sure if I can explain this well - Two (or more, depending on space) rows of sticks in different colours, but the sticks alternate positions. The only way I can think to explain what I mean is crochet - if you look at rows of crochet stitching they don't line up with the row above, but sort of fill in the space between. Hopefully that makes sense 😅

Also my mom and I used to play pokemon go together we would drive and walk around, for hours when it first came out. My only regret is refusing to go the last time she wanted to go... It is a good game to play together

My type 2 got worse. So I cut way back on carbs. Almost no carbs. Cut out sugar. Started using stevia. And now I my type 2 under control. I still take meds. But not like I would if I hadn't cut the carbs and the sugar out. And I've lost about 60 lbs since. And I don't do a bunch of extra exercise. But everyone is different.

Hey Ben! Just thought I’d mention that alcohol inks in resin are not color-fast and will fade in time. Depending on how much UV they are exposed to. You live in Australia. JR resin products are from Australia. They have colors for resin that are resistant to fading…just sayin’! Even though I love Japan, I don’t have interest in Pokemon. With a few small changes, you will get healthier in time!

Ben small steps amd before you know it you will be loosing pounds 👍 like nicole im also diabetic but ive managed to loose 3 stone in weight, think the worse thing for me is the snacking replacing those bad temptations with healthy ones is a big adjustment. Im 47 and still play pokemon 🤫🤫

Have you seen those re-usable water balloons, I wonder if they would make a good mould. I've definitely seen them in toy shops in the UK, not sure about your part of the world but they are made in China and look like they'd be all over.

Just a curious question; if you magnify the sunlight that is shining on the uv resin does it cure faster or is that not how it works?(uv resin or uv rays in sunlight). If it does make it cure faster, how much faster, and can you use a magnifying glass to cure a specific spot faster than the rest of the resin?
